okay, I love this set-up where two similarly nerdy people find each other and perfectly fit together before their romance even really begins. and spooky/bff shenanigans? just right.

This fall will be packed full of so many fun romance reads! Haunt Your Heart Out is probably my favorite fall read from NetGalley in 2024! It had me laughing and cheering for the characters. It was a fast read because I didn't want to put it down! This will be at the top of my list to recommend to "sweet" fall readers looking for romance and fun!

This book was so cute! I loved the combo of the spooky references but during the cozy winter time and combined with the love story. I also really loved watching the heroine go on her journey!

Lex loves her small town and all it's ghosts. When out-of-towner, James, starts frequenting her book shop, Lex finds herself forced to make space in her small world for him and his documentary crew.

I enjoyed the moments where we got to see Lex's love for books and her grandfather's house. Along with her friendship with Natalie. However, at times I found myself taken out of the narrative by a few aspects of the plot.

I wish that there would have been more drawn out tension between Lex and James in the first half of the book. Her reluctance to form an attachment to this out-of-towner was resolved so quickly and it would have been interesting to have a little more angst. Some of the side characters read quite one dimensional and whilst there was some representation of LGBT characters this was almost mentioned in passing and could have been explored further. I also found myself wishing that we had James' POV to understand his character and motivations through more than just his dialogue. But, this is perhaps just my preference for dual POV narration.

Overall, a good quick read to cosy up to in the colder months. This could be a great choice for a spooky Halloween read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Alcove Press for the opportunity to read an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review

this book started out so strong for me and then...I hate to say it...I got bored. I really wanted to love this. I love the premise of the book and the characters are so likeable. I just don't know what happened. It was quite the push for me to get to the end.

This was a really cute book! I thought it was gonna be Halloween-ish vibes but it actually took place around Christmas time. Alex was very relatable to me in terms of her anxiety issues and wanting to keep her roots planted in her hometown. James was a very sweet love interest, and they had great chemistry together.

Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.

I love spooky romances!!

This was adorable ?!?! And how they incorperated the podcast?! i am sold.

It was amazing to see, that sometimes people suck.. and they will continue to suck. Just because they are your family doesn't mean you have to forgive them!
I was rooting for the bookstore, as a bookseller how could i not?!?.

Thank you netgalley for giving me this arc. I had such a fun time reading it!

The Haunt Your Heart Out by Amber Roberts is a cute romance with quirky characters.
The main character works at a bookstore in her hometown where her family lived for generations.
What drew me into this book was the cover and the title. It was not at all scary (local legends) and it was somewhat entertaining.
In some points, the main character was very relatable. But I felt something was missing.
This book is a cute late autumn/Winter cosy romance book with some spooky vibes.
Thank you Netgalley and Alcove Press for the ARC of this book.

I love a book set in a small town, complete with charming stores and quirky characters. It's even better when there's a bookstore and a hint of ghosts involved!

The main characters, Lex and James, brought a lot to the story. Lex manages a small, not-so-successful bookstore called Dog-Eared (such a cute name) in a town where her family has lived for generations. James comes to town to help film a documentary on local hauntings and myths. While the ghosts in the book were more local legends than actual spirits, their presence added a nice touch 👻.

Both Lex and James share a love for books and animals, and their complex family dynamics made them relatable. However, while the setting was charming, the budding romance wasn't as convincing to me. Since the story is told from Lex's first-person POV, her character felt well-developed, but James seemed a bit two-dimensional, which perhaps can sometimes happen with single POV stories.

Overall, "Haunt Your Heart Out" is a cute and charming book. Although I expected more spookiness based on the title, the story still captured the spirit (pun intended) of a cozy small-town romance. I'd recommend this to readers who enjoy books set in Stars Hollow-like towns with delightful characters.

This is an adorable fall read. This gives me Stars Hollow in the fall vibe.

I enjoyed seeing an older FMC. I could easily relate to her and the struggles with anxiety that she has worked through. I enjoyed reading about the “snow globe” town she lived in. This is a great cozy fall read.

This book knows the way to my heart. A small-town girl who runs a secondhand bookstore, and a city boy who loves books just as much as she does? It's just a recipe for success. I loved Haunt Your Heart Out from start to finish!

Lex has found her perfect home in Vermont. She lives in her grandfather's house that she inherited when he passed away and it holds so many memories from her childhood. She works at a used book store and dreams of the day she can afford to buy it and take it over for herself. She never wants to leave Vermont and doesn't date much because everyone she meets is just passing through. She assumes James is one of the seasonal tourists and tries to resist her feelings for him. When he reveals he will be in town long term filming content for a ghosty documentary, she allows herself to explore their feelings.

This was a really cute romance. Lex and James were so sweet and caring for each other. The ghost stories of the past were great tie ins but I did want a bit more from that part of the story-line.

LOVE!!!!!
Our FMC who is perfectly happy in her small town working at the local used book shop, then comes along a ghost documentary producer and throws a whole spanner in the works.
The ghostly paranormal aspect is fun and the love story is so well done!!
In conclusion - read this book, it’s fantastic!!!!

This was a fun read that was equal parts swoony and cute! The perfect story to read if you’re looking for spooky vibes during Christmastime!!!

This one might be better enjoyed if read seasonally. It has both spooky Halloween vibes and Christmas vibes. It is cute and fluffy. However, I felt it took awhile for the story to get going and it was difficult to feel invested. The pacing felt slow at times and I didn't love the lack of communication towards the end of the book. For someone looking for a spooky, fun, and comfy read, this might be for you!

A cute romantic comedy perfect for fans of Halloween without the scary haunts. Stowe made for a cozy setting and is perfect for a fall/winter read.

I always enjoy a charming small town. This was a cute and enjoyable read. The main character sort of became tedious to deal with but overall this was fun.

I found this to be adorable, fun to read and highly entertaining. There were points where the main character got a little monotonous in her anxiety/complaints but it didn’t detract from how cute the story was and how much I enjoyed it!

Haunt Your Heart Out feels like a cute little Hallmark movie.

It takes place in a small town in Vermont, the FMC works at a book store & the MMC comes into town for a ghost investigation based on the FMC's childhood Youtube channel. Without giving too much away, this dynamic sets up for a unique set of circumstances.

I appreciate how this book touches on mental health, the FMC is in her 30s, and it has LGBTQ representation. The setting also feels cozy & I could easily imagine spending time in this town.

Where things fell a little flat for me was the pacing and the relationship between the main characters. I never felt like I was giggling and kicking my feet. I also found myself skipping sections because I was trying to get to the meat of the book. I wish more time was given to building up their romance so we were truly excited for their connection.

Thank you for the advanced copy!
