Thank you netgall and Crooked lane books for giving me ARC.
This book is so good, i was afraid because the author is new to me but she did the work so good.
Jessica has been missing since her younger sister Lyndsey was old enough to remember. Gone in the blink of an eye, much like the 3 other missing college girls, the case has been cold for years, Now a podcast has brought new life to the story and Lyndsey is old enough to investigate what really happened on the day her sister walked out to her car and disappeared. Was it the jealous boyfriend, the creepy college professor.
The story is fast reading and can't put it down, i am recommending this book to all my friends.
Wow! I had no idea what to expect from this book. This is a new author to me but I will definitely be reading more of her books. This book is a great story that you will not want to put down until the end. I thought I had it all figured out, but then TWIST! The Lake of Lost Girls is about a family whose daughter went missing while in college. We find out she’s not the only girl missing from the same college. The author takes us through many possible answers to who took her, which kept me fully invested in this book! If you’re looking for a book you won’t be able to put down, this book is for you!
totally unputdownable.
intersecting timelines? check. multimedia scrapbook storytelling? check. at least 4 times i thought i knew the answer only to be hit with the most massive plot twist RIGHT before the end??? this was insane. the characters felt so real, honestly it was almost like watching an episode of law & order: SVU, and i was hooked the WHOLE read. devoured it in a day.
i was given an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read and review The Lake of Lost Girls by Katherine Greene.

Was it the jealous boyfriend, the creepy college professor, or some random serial killer set on terrorizing young girls? While I started to clue into the twist of this story, I didn’t have it figured out completely. Once the truth was revealed, I was left wanting more. This was a fast read and if you like stories set in academia, you’ll love this twisty thriller,

✨Told through alternating timelines of true crime podcast episodes—titled Ten Seconds To Vanish—and real time, The Lake Of Lost Girls is a harrowing account of multiple girls disappearing from a sleepy town.
✨ Jessica goes missing in broad daylight outside her home. It’s 1998 and several female college students at Southern State University in North Carolina have disappeared as well.
✨In present day, Lindsey, who was six at the time of her sister’s disappearance, teams up with a mysterious journalist, and is made aware of shocking discoveries—some of which are hitting too close to home.
✨As bodies start surfacing and Lindsey learns more of Jessica’s not-so-rosy college days, an ungodly truth begins unfolding, putting Lindsey in harm’s path.
✨ Perfect for fans of true crime and podcasts, The Lake Of Lost Girls is a sister’s quest to find answers when no one else will. A thrilling and disturbing ride, yet not one to miss!

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book. Lindsey Fadley’s sister Jessica was one of four female college students who went missing 24 years ago. Lindsey was 6 years old at the time and her family was never the same. Lindsey is now an adult, and with two podcasters revisiting the mystery of the students’ disappearance, she is determined to find out what happened to her sister.
This book was a complete page turner. What a ride! Written in dual timelines (Jessica’s and Lindsey’s), it pulled me into the story right from the beginning and I couldn’t let go. The characters were all very well developed, the writing was strong, and the suspense kept building in the best possible way. If you pick up this book, be sure to not have any plans for that day or you’ll just end up canceling them. One of those books you just know from the start that it is going to be a wild ride.
i read this book in one sitting, i just couldn’t put it down! i kept thinking i had the ending figured out, and i definitely didn’t. this would be a great book for people who enjoy podcasts like crime junkie.
thanks to netgalley for the advance copy.

📚THE SYNOPSIS:
It’s 1998. Female students are going missing at Southern State University in North Carolina. Freshman Jessica Fadley, once a bright and responsible student, is going through her own struggles. Just as her life seems to be careening dangerously out of control, she suddenly disappears.
24 years later, Jessica’s sister Lindsey is desperately searching for answers and uses the momentum of a new chart-topping true crime podcast that focuses on the cold cases, to guide her own investigation. Soon, interest reaches fever pitch when the bodies of the long-missing women begin turning up at a local lake, which leads Lindsey down a disturbing road of discovery. Told in alternating timelines, The Lake of Lost Girls uses suspenseful podcast clips to weave a twisty tale of a missing student and her sister who is desperate for answers...
📚MY REVIEW:
I'm going to sum up this book in just two words: "Holy Sh*t."
And after finishing the book in a feverish flurry of page-turning, I had just four words: "I Need A Cocktail."
This book absolutely blew me away. I thought I had it figured out once, twice, then a third time. I suspected everyone, I suspected no one. But I sure didn't suspect the ending I got.
This book pulled me in immediately. It was one of those books that you just inherently KNEW was going to be good. It was a fast read -- I'm surprised my Kindle app kept up with the speed in which I was turning its pages. This book is the definition of unputdownable. I read at bedtime last night, with coffee this morning, and at lunch today. Before my laptop was even finished shutting down at the end of my work day, this book was back in my hands and I read until its unbelievably spectacular end. Whew!
Thank you SO MUCH to Net Galley and Crooked Lane Books for this advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review. If there's a book tour for this one, SIGN ME UP. I'm in.

I’m tempted to declare this 4.5 stars. This was such a captivating story!
Lindsey’s sister Jess went missing 24 years ago. After decades of no new leads there’s been a break in the case leading to Lindsey becoming overwhelmed with information she never knew about her sister, her family or the case.
The story jumps back and forth from present-day Lindsey and Jess 24 years ago, and is supplemented by podcast segments and newspaper articles. A picture of what happened the night Jess went missing slowly reveals itself, but is it what it seems?
Good character development. Good writing in general. I’m definitely going to read more of this author.
First book from Katherine Greene and it was pretty much an all around great thriller! Dual timelines ( and one set in the nostalgia of the late 90s) and use of podcasts and modern media throughout to give insider and outsider perspectives to a multi-faceted story. Loved the clues that were dropped throughout, yet the only thing that nagged at me was the development of some of the stories in the periphery meant to throw off the reader form the actual suspect. The story line of father and daughter throughout the novel was a bit irritating and still not fully explained. If it would have had more depth and understanding in the dynamic it would have provided a more powerful punch. Yet, even with this small critique aside, I really enjoyed this book! Will be checking out other titles from this author. #thelakeoflostgirls #katherinegreene #netgalley #goodreads
Although not typically a fan of reads that weave the format of social media elements into the narrative, "The Lake of Lost Girls" was able to blend the traditional narrative with mixed media elements while keeping me interested and creating an immersive reading experience. Told in a dual timeline, the transitions between past and present are seamless, with each timeline complementing and enhancing the other. Overall, a satisfying read for fans of mysteries, dual timelines, and the use of multimedia elements.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read and review "The Lake of Lost Girls" before its publication date.
More than 20 years ago, 6 year old Lindsey's older sister Jessica disappeared right from their front yard. She wasn't the first girl from her college in their small town to disappear that school year, but police were weary to acknowledge the possibility of any connection. Now, bones have been found and the town is buzzing with journalists looking to solve the 24 year old crime. Armed with new evidence and the information heard in a true crime podcast, Lindsey meets people from Jessica's life and uncovers secrets that shock her as she tries to unravel the mystery. Alternating between Lindsey and Jessica's narrations, this gripping book twists and turns along a path to a truth that will shock you. Tapping into both current true crime podcast obsessions and 90s nostalgia, this book is sure to be an instant hit.
I enjoyed the way we find out information in this book, the way it's set feel unique to me. This added to the build up of suspense and tension.
This one surprised me in the absolute best way. I couldn’t put it down. The format, the pacing, the writing… it all worked perfectly and didn’t disappoint.
I just really love any thriller/mystery with a unique format and the combination of podcast episodes, flashback chapters with alternating perspectives, and the random social media posts peppered in really just made this one so enjoyable.
Some of the big reveals were a little obvious with the way they continuously dropped in breadcrumbs, but it didn’t take away the book’s overall ability to keep me guessing and wanting to know more. And the final twist was executed perfectly. I could see this one being picked up by HBO for a tv adaptation.
4.5 stars and definitely will be highly recommending leading up to the release!
Lindsay turned her head for one moment and her big sister vanished. Years later, there is still no clue as to what happened and Lindsay wants answers. This book is excellent and a must-read for mystery and suspense fans. Unpredictable twists, dual timelines, and podcast episodes made this a real page turner. I’ll recommend closer to publication day and I think this would make a great book club pick. Thanks so much for the opportunity to read!
Before I start a book I write down in my reading journal if I feel like i'll like it or if I may be meh about it. I read and write against if I liked it or not. And here I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did. The book peeked my interest of course but I didn't know if it was going to be that good. I mean Ive read dozens of books on here. But dang I loved this book.
4.75/5 ⭐️ - Rounded to a 5 for the vibes
This book is the perfect mix between A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (Holly Jackson) and The Last Time I lied (Riley Sager). The format of the book made me want to continue reading each chapter right after the last, finishing in one session. The podcasts, newspapers, and everything was really refreshing in a thriller book. A very nice choice, and very promising from the very start.
While I did guess the ending, I do not fault the book in any way. At each chapter, a new twist and turn came; but it was not overdone (a normally huge complaint of mine). This book was incredible from start to finish!
*I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book had a fun premise. I did notice a mistake in the American podcaster referring to the girl going to Uni. Americans would not say that. Maybe the author is British? I felt like there were some other Britishisms assigned to Americans, but that is what stood out the most. I feel like the main character was very childish. I know she still lived at home and it but every time they said she was 30 I was shocked. She read like a 12 or 13-year-old. That made some of the passages sort of uncomfortable like the one with the reporter in the beginning I guess in real life you might be sort of stunted if this happened to you but I don’t want to read about an adult woman who seems like a child for no real reason. That really dragged the book down for me.
