I'd give this book a 3.75 stars.
I really loved the plot and that's what really drew me to this book. I truly enjoyed the story and journey that was followed throughout the book and I will definitely be reading the next book!
The reason this book fell short of some stars, for me, is because in the first 50% of the book there is a lot of repetitiveness. Both between Evelyn and Kade, they repeat themselves and the same thoughts over and over again. I am not usually picky about things like that but it was enough that it stood out to me. Also, Evelyn says multiple times that she has "lost her flame" but she has her flame... which was confusing to me. I think it could've been explained as, her powers don't feel the same, or her powers aren't what they once were. And one more thing that stuck out to me was the first fight with the White Lady/Demon, Kade was no where to be found until Evelyn was injured and it wasn't explained at all where he disappeared to. He just vanished and then reappeared. I just wish there was some detail explaining what happened, even if it was just one sentence.
But, that being said the majority of the last 50% of the book was a lot better. Less repetitive and got more into the story telling and solving of the mystery. The ending of course was a shock and something I wasn't expecting. I loved Evelyn's attitude at the ending and will be interested to see how Kade navigates finding Ev, and for that reason, I will be looking forward to the next book!
I absolutely loved this book and would give 4.5 stars if Goodreads ever allowed half a star.
I would say it’s Throne of Glass meets The Honey Witch.
Such an easy read yet not boring. The plot twists were predictable but in a good way. I felt emotionally invested in the book but it didn’t absolutely destroy my soul - which sometimes is good!
* betrayal
* fated mates
*magic
*murder mystery
This was such a good book! The story has magic, a runaway bride, murder mysteries, witches, werewolves, vampires, AND faeries! The world building was beautiful and the side characters were lovable. I loved that it focused on the FMC’s journey with self-doubt and learning to believe in herself. Her character growth was so relatable and inspiring to watch. I also loved that the MMC was extremely patient, encouraging, and devoted. And the ending?! It was a complete shock! Overall, I loved this story and I am eagerly awaiting the next installment of this series!

Evelyn has been on the run for 2 years. As a witch with a power given from the Sun Goddess herself, she is Daughter of the Sun Goddess and destined to end the darkness that vampyrs have created. Her flame from the Sun Goddess is the only thing that can truly kill a vampyr. In order for the prophecy to come true she must marry the Son of the Moon God, Kade Drengr.
Kade Drengr is the Son of the Moon God and a werewolf. Taught his whole life about his duty to his people and to the prophecy.
Problem is, when her parents died she lost her flame. Without her flame she is nothing. So she fled in order to try to protect her people from finding out the truth and to keep a war with the vampyrs at bay.
Kade Drengr is sent to find Evelyn and bring her home. Powered by rage and duty, he finds her in the small town of Callum. She goes by the name of Saige Ferriweather. Kade hides his identity as the huntsman, Cyrus Skender, in hopes of trying to find out why she fled 2 years ago.
When murders plague the small town the two have to work together to find the killer.
You’ll have to read the book to find out the rest!!
I definitely enjoyed this book, but I do feel like the world building was lacking. It was definitely a slow burn, which I really liked. It gave the whole book time for their relationship to fully develop and it didn’t feel rushed.
The ending felt a bit random to me, but maybe the second book will give me more insight.
Thank you C.C. Tyler and NetGalley for providing this ARC!

Of Faith & Flame is a breathtaking story of witches, werewolves, vampyrs, humans, and a little bit of faeries. C.C. Tyler does a beautiful job of diving into this fantastic fantasy realm.
Evelyn Carson was prophesied to to join a union that would defeat the vampyrs but that all changes when her magic deserted her. She now runs in order to protect her people so that the vampyrs don't learn the disastrous secret that she holds.
Kade Drengr is on the search for his betrothed, Evelyn, as they were both prophesied to defeat the vampyrs together. Kade hides his true identity and once he finds Evelyn, they work together to solve a murder that plagues the small town of Callum.
An evil darkness is plaguing these mysterious murders and Kade and Evelyn work together, under guises in the beginning, to solve the case. Kade struggles with his duty and furthering his relationship with Evelyn. Evelyn struggles with what is the truth and what becomes betrayal.
Of Faith & Flame is a beautifully written book. Evelyn and Kade both face inner challenges as they work together and eventually they overcome those challenges. However, just as they do so there is a major plot twist at the end! The plot twist lest my jaw dropped and was very well done and looking back the foreshadowing was very well done.
The story of Kade and Evelyn is beautiful, the writing from C.C. is fantastic, and the world building is very well done and easy to follow without getting lost! The book definitely left me on my toes and I am excited to see where this story goes in future books!

This was my first book by CC Tyler and I really loved it I tore through it in one sitting! I’m obsessed with Evelyn and Kade and I really enjoyed getting to know these characters! It was a slow burn but once it got going it was spicy! I also loved getting lost in the world of witches, wolves, and vampires. Very well done! I really really enjoyed it!
4.5 ⭐ I love a good murder-mystery vibe tied into romantasy! C.C. Tyler did a great job tying in the werewolves and witches, along with vampires, faeries and loads of other creatures.
I really enjoyed the FMC and MMC's journey together and was on the edge of my seat the entire time....especially following that cliffhanger of an ending. I'll definitely be following the remainder of this trilogy.
Thank you to netgalley and C.C. Tyler for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
I was torn between 3 1/2 and 4 stars for this book. While I enjoyed the story, at times it felt monotonous. Once it got more into the conflict between the main characters and the vampyr, things started to get better. It did feel somewhat dragged out, and I had a little bit of difficulty getting through parts of it. Overall, I liked the story but I didn’t feel myself getting attached to the characters like I thought I would. I will still read the next book with hopes of finding what I felt like was missing. Spice level- like .5, it was a lot of cut scenes with only a little bit of info.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is well worth the read and is a great blend of lore and world building with characters full of personality, all while following a captivating story.
If you're looking for a story with:

Then this is a book for you!!
The storytelling was brilliant, I fell in love with Callum and the townspeople there. The writing was so descriptive that I felt like I knew them all personally and what a community they are. Evelyn was a relatable lead, a witch with so much pressure put on to her by other people and bound to a prophecy but riddled with self doubt and the inability to see all her strengths other than her flame. I loved reading as her character developed and she began to believe in herself more. Kade definately helped her start to open up and I enjoyed reading how their relationship developed even with their guarded secrets, showing the real depth of their feelings for each other. They worked well as a team while investigating the mysterious murders going on and as the plot developed I was excited to discover all the different and new enemies they encountered. As for the twist at the end, I had a feeling something was off about them, but I did not guess what they were hiding.
I'm sad now the book is over and I have to wait for the next book to see what happens next and how Kade will react.
Thanks to C.C. Tyler and Netgalley for my arc copy of this, I was more than happy to give my honest review of this story and cannot wait to see where this trilogy takes us!
A brilliant debut from C.C. Tyler, I read Of Faith & Flame in one sitting and could not put it down. Will eagerly await book two!
I should have KNOWN things were going too well for the book to end well... But DAMN was I not expecting that twist!
I will not reveal what said twist is, but it shook me! I have so many questions and I don't know when I'll get my answers 😭
As for the book itself, Of Faith & Flame was amazing! The character growth was beautiful to watch, especially with Evelyn. She went from molded and belittled to the Bad Bitch™️ she always was deep inside.
And can we talk about Kade? 🫠 I don't know how she resisted as long as she did! The slow burn tension is real in this book, and we're basically just edged at the end... It hurts so bad it's good. 😩 I really want to see them TOGETHER together, and not just for the spicy bits, but also because I grew to love them both. 🖤
The story was epic as well, full of magic and creatures of all sorts. The underlying plot is interspersed with a bigger and more immediate threat that must be overcome (spoiler alert: it doesn't happen in book one!). The story kind of gives Serpent & Dove vibes with a similar story flow and relationship build up, which I loved.
There honestly isn't anything I can think of that I didn't like, except for the cliffhanger ending (but I knew it was book one on a trilogy, so that's to be expected!). Read this if you love romantic fantasy that is heavy on intrigue, mystery and action with a sprinkle of slow born passion!
Thank you NetGalley and C.C Tyler for the early access to this book in exchange for my honest review!
“Unfamiliar feelings overcame him.
Evelyn conjured something wild and ravenous inside him, something he feared and craved all at once. It unnerved him how out of control he became, how under-prepared he felt around her. It distracted him from what he was here for, what he’d come to do.”
This story was exciting, and took me into the world of magic, witches, vampyrs, and werewolves effortlessly. I was so deeply invested in the characters Evelyn and Kade (or Saige and Cyrus) and I cheered them on with every interaction. Being given both POVs was a gift and allowed for better understanding of their inner struggles. A third born daughter of the witches and a third born son of the werewolves bringing a prophecy to life. Their union is meant to save the world from the destruction of Vampyrs that have wreaked havoc on the land. The loss of Evelyns power sends her running, and Kade duty bound goes to find her and bring her back. This slow burn romance includes, mystery, fantasy, and adventure.
I loved the attention to detail surrounding the world building, and the importance the author had in really creating the scene. We weren’t just thrown into the town of Callum, we were guided into the coastal town with great attention to detail to the sights, sounds and people. I couldn’t put this book down and just wanted to consume more and more. It felt incredibly cozy even with all that the characters had at stake.
This book reads at a slower pace, if you’re more interested in a fast hot and heavy romance (or something darker) this isn’t for you. This book is comforting, and warm, as is the romance of the two characters.
I so look forward to the next book and to see what comes from this story as well as what comes next for this author.
This book was definitely interesting! I did not expect the ending. Werewolves, witches and vampires! Do I need to say more? So crazy
Thank you net galley & publishers for allowing me access to this arc.
This book has it all witches, vampires, werewolves and a good old slow burn.
C.C does an amazing job immersing you in the world of callum.
Cannot wait for the next installment!

3.75 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
What I liked:
The characters were great, it took a long time for Evelyn to grow on me, I’ll admit, but taking all of her into context made me appreciate her more (also FMC 25 years old, love that). Kade could do no wrong (except for his pancake topping choice, no judgment but can’t say that’s my first choice). The other characters were lovely, I want to be besties with Aster (and I crave honeysuckle wine).
The birth order role is exciting, the witches' lore sounds interesting, loved Maxie and would love to learn more about familiars. Interested in learning more about the werewolves and vampyrs too.
What I didn’t like as much:
The stakes didn’t feel high enough when they were supposed to be, everything just seemed easy. I was never truly worried.
Information was either repeated, or new information would be explained too late.
I hope we get to learn more about world-building and magic in the next one, I was left hungry for more than what I was given.
***
It was a cozy read, the book felt like milky tea and a blanket. I did audibly gasp a couple of times. If you want allies-lovers/witch-werewolf-vampyrs/and a murder mystery, then this may be the book for you.
I really like the first half of this book and the characters are really well written! It's interesting and the slow burn allies to lovers romance is full of tension and climax About 70% of the way through some of the details got a bit repetitive but by the end I was happy with continuing it, the ending is a great little cliff hanger and I'm real interested to see where it goes in book 2!
Thank you #Netgalley for this Arc!
I'm gonna need the next part of this story on my desk by the end of the week. 😩
This one really got its claws in me. Murder, mystery, romance, and SECRETS GALORE!! The kind of secrets where you just know shit is going to hit the fan once the characters are finally honest with each other - and they know it too - so they hem and haw and torture us along with themselves.
I really enjoyed the chemistry & conflict between the MFC & MMC. And just when you think things are getting all ironed out, the rug gets pulled out again!
I also really appreciated the depth of internal conflict with these characters. They both lack confidence in themselves, though it comes from different sources and is displayed differently, but it definitely comes between them. It's rewarding to see them work through those issues.
I can't wait to see how the story changes as we get to see more of this world. The twists and turn in this book have me frothing at the mouth for the next installment.
3.5 stars!!
The lore of this book is so incredibly cool: the third daughter of a witch family is prophesied to save the world from darkness when paired/mated/married with the third son of a werewolf family- and it just so happens that Evelyn and Kade are set to be those who will change the world. One problem, though, is that Evelyn has lost her special magic that is needed to make this difference- and so off she goes across the sea, hiding her name, her magic, and anything that could connect her back to her old life. Kade, however, is frustrated that his bride-to-be (that he's never seen) has disappeared and sets off to rescue her. A case of dramatic irony hits us as he knows who she is, but she doesn't know who he is and assumes he's just a human huntsman. The two get paired up to investigate a string of murders and the attraction between the two sizzles, leaving them both confused and unsure how to share the lies they've told.
This is a classic, simple romantasy book that leaves mysteries abounding, romance flying, alliances shifting, and magical characters of all kinds appearing!! It leaves off on a big cliffhanger (with a twist I sneakily suspected!!) so book two should be a very exciting endeavor.
Thank you to CC Tyler and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review. Of Faith and Flame comes out on March 15, 2024!
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for access to this ARC.
Wow! I couldn’t get enough of this book. Witches, Werewolves, and Vampires - all my favourites in one story. However this was so much more than that. I’m jot usually one for romance throughout, but I really did find myself involved in their depending love - it felt very authentic. The time was given for the love to develop; rather than forcing them together too quickly.
What was most powerful for me was the theme throughout of self belief: we are often told we are defined by our best attributes, whether that be our intelligence, our skills, or our looks. However this book fought against that - making Evelyn (and the reader) see that those attributes are nothing without us. Believing in ourself is key - “Because Evelyn did believe. Instead of believing in her flame, she’d believed in herself.” This was such a powerful message throughout and one that we really resonated with me and how I feel at times.
A truly good book goes beyond the twists and turns of the plot to leave a lasting message. This did just that.
Given the ending. I NEED the second book as soon as possible.
