A great read for new intrapreneurs who are seeking to drive innovation from within. Gump outlines the value of intrapreneurs, how they differ from entrepreneurs, and the advantages they may have by working from within. Gump also shares the characteristics of successful intrapreneurs, the tactics they employ and how they drive business value while working with the company culture and norms.
The Inside Innovator provides a refreshingly practical guide for managers who are looking to build or scale a new business within a larger enterprise. Most business books focus on entrepreneurship of a new business with a fresh setup but in reality, most new businesses originate from a larger corporation. The soft skills of getting buy-ins from your boss as well as those who are not naturally aligned to your causes are absolutely critical to the success of this type of companies. The book gives practical advice that are easy to follow and is highly recommended
This is such a fascinating concept - intrapreneurship … sparking change from the inside of an existing organization. I related to this so much from the perspective of my role within an agency. Great listen for anyone looking to be the catalyst for change - from business development, branding, strategy, Human Resources and beyond!
I found this to be a very interesting read. I think the author does a good job explaining topics but also showing he’s research and also citing other people who have researched in this area which personally made me feel like this was more credible since I’m not familiar with the author.
I liked that there were topics in here that would be good for anyone in any stage of their career, with an emphasis on leadership. I also really enjoyed the chapter summaries, I felt based on the subject matter these were helpful to close out what was covered.
Along those lines though, I felt like we bounced around too much. I think if it had been easier to track through it would have been a stronger book for me.
Overall I think it’s a good book but I’ve read a fair amount of inspiring books similar to this and this one just missed the mark for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, Fast Press and Louis K Gump for an ARC of the book in exchange for the opportunity to share my unbiased feedback.
