This book was so fun! I love thrillers like this one. In the beginning we’re really introduced to the characters, the setting and the overall story line. It’s very easy to read and fast paced the whole time. I couldn’t put this book down, I found our narrator very interesting and easy to follow. I had so many theories going on in my head at once trying to figure out which way this book would turn. I was questioning every character, rereading some parts to make sure I my thought process made sense, and still I was shocked by the ending. I did see some of the minor details and twists coming , but the overarching plot twist was a total shock and the ending of the book is wild and action packed that left me with my amped up and excited to read other books by this author! Highly recommend checking this one out!
This was gifted by the publisher & Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
I wanted to love this book, but unfortunately the pacing was just off for me. I didn't like the longer chapters and how the characters all felt very similar.
It was very much a cliched book and I wanted something a little more original. Additionally, the narrator didn't sound like a teenage girl. She sounded like an old woman.
Overall, I would pass on it.
This was a really good YA book. After the first few chapters, I was hooked. It was a slow starter, but as soon as I got really into it, I couldn't put it down. There was a little of the Good Girls Guide to Murder vibe.

The Summer She Went Missing is a great YA mystery book. There is a little romance with a slow burn and of course mystery. While it did feel like the adults in the book didn't seem overly concerned with having a missing daughter, it did lay the groundwork for the main characters to do some sleuthing. This is a quick read and teens and adults a like will enjoy it.
This book is a great YA thriller.
It centers around teens and their summer drama along with some murder/mystery/thriller. If you're into these types of books, I think you will enjoy it.
The narrator of the book was pretty decent. She did well telling the story.
I got a little annoyed by the main character with her "old soul" that would randomly come into play and seemed to always get dizzy or light-headed for no reason at all. I thought eventually it would explain her symptoms but I am guessing it's just her. I also wasn't a huge fan of her not listening to holding off while she was told to wait. Course, that is a pretty typical teen girl.
The "edge on your seat" moments were written well. I didn't know what to expect and who to expect so it kept me wanting to find out.
First off, the narration of this book was fantastic. I can't put my finger on exactly what differentiated it for me, but I loved it and it really pulled me into the story.
This one is going to be better if you just go into the story blind.
I thought it was fun and fast paced with a lot of twists and turns, and I was fully engaged in the story. It was fun as an adult to follow along with all of the teen drama which at some points seemed a little over dramatic, but that's teenagers for you. I loved Paige and Dylan separately, but not so much together. You will need to read to see how that turns out.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and would recommend it to YA and thriller readers. It isn't often that an ending catches me by surprise, but this one did.
A great YA thriller that will keep you guessing to the end. The book has some good twists as Paige and Dylan search for Dylan’s missing sister Audrey.
Mixed with romance, intrigue and mystery the story is a quick read that should appeal to fans of the thriller genre.
I received an audio copy and enjoyed the narrator Amy McFadden.
Thank you NetGalley and Tantor Audio for my ARC.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I really enjoyed this audiobook. I was hooked from
The beginning. It was also hard to tell that it was technically a YA novel too. Narration was well done. The separate timelines thrown in kept you guessing. The ending was definitely a surprise.
Well done by the author.
Page and Audrey are besties, they're inseparable and share everything...or do they?
I loved this book from beginning to end. It’s entertaining and takes you down a rabbit hole. I loved the twist; it wasn’t what I was expecting.
Page and Audrey spend every summer together, but this year something feels different. Audrey is distant and keeping secrets. As their friendship begins to unravel, Audrey suddenly goes missing without a trace.
In an effort to find her, Page and Audrey's brother Dylan embark on a dangerous mission, uncovering shocking revelations along the way.
As they dig deeper into the mystery, things only get more intense and dangerous for them.
Thanks to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for the free audio copy of the book.
This sounded like it was going to be a book right up my alley. Unfortunately I found the writing reminiscent of my six grade transcripts of my version of the babysitters club. The narration was completely annoying in the ending at best average. I feel like the book was quickly put together I didn’t feel engage with the characters nor did I feel like I even knew the type of people they were. I had high hopes for this book but sadly I was disappointed I love Tantore audio and YA mysteries but this one was a letdown including the narration the girl read it as if she ran into a stop sign at the end of each sentence I don’t know if this makes sense but it’s as if every sentence is punctuated with a big full stop. I want to thank Tantore audio and Net Galley for my free arc please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
I always appreciate a good mystery, and this one was written pretty well. The ending (about the last 10%) was very exciting and I loved that several different characters were able to come together to end the mystery. The summer house setting was also fun, and I could easily picture the teens hanging out around a river during a hot day.
My biggest complaint about this story was that it didn’t feel high-stakes enough and the reveal of who the bad guy was felt like it wasn’t too shocking or that big of a deal. I was never on the edge of my seat or nervous for the characters, even when they were in tense situations. It might have been better if we got to learn more about the characters and their personalities away from their summer lives, or maybe if the girl that went missing happened recently and the characters feel like they were on limited time? I’m not sure, but I wish there was something extra to keep me more invested in it.
Still, I think this could be a great summer read for someone looking for a simple YA mystery that won’t scare or shock you into being too scared to turn the lights off at night.

The Summer She Went Missing
Author: Chelsea Ichaso
YA Thriller
This was a fun fast paced ya thriller read. Reminded me of Holly Jackson.. the story centers on Paige, who spends her summer in Clearwater Ridge. Her best friend Audrey goes missing and a year later her case has gone cold. Her and Audrey’s brother, Dylan, end up teaming up to try figure out what happened to her. It was twisty, and kept you guessing. I really enjoyed it and I can be pretty harsh with my thriller reads. Super greatful to be given this ARC! Thank you so much 🙏

This is perfect for fans of the show Cruel Summer. A lot of it you’ll have to suspend disbelief for, especially at the end. But overall a really solid YA mystery/thriller.
Thank you Tantor audio for this gifted ALC. I think the narrator did a great job conveying the characters and the story, the listening experience was very enjoyable! I don’t read, or listen to, many Young Adult books, but I wanted a little more from this in the beginning. It was so slow to start, and hard to get into the story at first. I almost gave up, but told myself I would get to at least 50% and I am so happy I did. Once the book picked up, it didn’t stop. It had me anxious and so zoned out to the outside world. I put my headphones in and didn’t even realize I had cleaned my whole house! That’s when you know it’s a great book. I thought I had it figured out, but I was wrong on so many accounts. And I love that in a great thriller too! This is a solid YA book, once you get past the setting up in the beginning!
This was a novel with unexpected twists. It was a little too young adult for me. I enjoyed the read.
This book was a pretty typical summer themed YA thriller. I didn't find anything to be super new or noteworthy. If you've read books where a teen girl goes missing one summer and then her friends/family try to find out what happened then you've read this book. That said, I didn't guess the ending (mostly cause I wasn't paying the best attention to everyone's names in the beginning). I did think the narrator did a decent job and was happy with how things turned out in the end though. I really wish this was more of a dual timeline so that we got to see exactly what happened the summer Audrey went missing. The title is a little misleading.
I absolutely loved this story! I listened in one sitting. I think my favorite character was Dylan and I found Paige to be a tiny bit annoying at times. I think everything tied in really nicely in the end. I honestly didn’t know how it was going to end (or who Girl was) and I love that.
The narration was fantastic and really drew me in. Thank you so much to Chelsea Ichaso and Tantor Audio for allowing me to listen and review!
What would you do if your best friend shut you out and then went missing? Would you think she did something unforgivable? Audrey's best friend and brother decide to figure out what happened that summer after the police stop investigating. Interrogating friends and acquaintances on the way. They stumble on the truth and must fight to survive. Good story and character development. Reminiscent of Holly Jackson and Maureen Johnson.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very intriguing thriller. I was in awe of the ending and was shocked by the outcome. I really enjoyed Paige and her detective skills. Her antics added some levity to the book.
What?! I didn’t see this one coming. It was written well and the only part I didn’t love is when the girl talked. I honestly think the story would have flowed just fine without that piece. Other than that though, this was a good one. I liked that it was a mystery and romance all in one too.
