Lately I have been really loving YA thrillers and this one didn’t hit it for me sadly.
A lot of the story I could predict easily and I thought some parts were slow.

The Narrator did a fantastic job and she made it very easy to listen to! Managed to finish this in two days.

I found Paige great but Dylan I found very annoying and irritating!
I know this is based on teenagers, I found some things that was said very stereotypical.

There were some good twists that kept the book interesting.
Overall it was decent and enjoyable.
Thank you Netgalley for my audio arc.

Book comes out March 5

The Summer She Went Missing
Author: Chelsea Ichaso
Source: NetGalley Audible ARC
Pub Date: March 5, 2024

The Summer She Went Missing was a miss for me. In audible format, the story comes off as super whiny and teeny-bopper sounding. I may have liked the book version better. Three teens, Dylan, the brother, and Audrey, his sister, and her best friend Paige, are celebrating summer when Audrey disappears. They blame it on her bad behavior, but other girls have “disappeared” in the past. After a year with no good news, Paige and Dylan join forces to figure out what has happened, and the result is a lot of twists and turns. I had a few issues with character development and the story’s pace. I also found the ending a stretch. But this book is a hit with many people, and I’m sure it will be a hit in the YA genre. It should appeal to the pre-teen reader. It’s not a bad book it just missed the mark for this older reader. #TheSummerSheWentMissing #SourcebooksFire #ChelseaIchaso @Netgalley #thriller #missingteens #mystery #whodunit #fiction

I adored Chelsea Ichaso's previous work so I was so excited to read this book and I'm so happy this was just as good!

So many twists and turns. I loved it being a thriller with romance, since I could have anxiety but also swoon at the same time lol.

overall its a great read! fast paced and easy to follow! Can't wait to see what else Chelsea Ichaso comes out with next.

Audrey and Paige are best friends who spend every summer at Audrey’s summer house. When one summer Audrey is distant and then goes missing everything changes. Paige and Audrey’s brother Dylan work together to figure out what happened to Audrey. As they investigate they learn there is more to story.
I liked the story and how it progressed but I wasn’t a big fan of the the narrator of the audiobook.
Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy of the audiobook

Maybe based on the title or the recent hype of the summer I turned pretty, this book had me right back into the pages of a book I have already read. Luckily it quickly adds in some mystery and curiosity to keep readers hooked! There are some sections of the book that are a little bit lengthy and had me starting to lose interest, but then got hooked right back in. The different pov’s definitely helped keep me engaged.

This upcoming release by @chelseaichaso is such a great read! If you are a fan of the ‘A Good Girls Guide To Murder’ series, this is a book you have to add to your TBR!

This book is filled with mystery, adventure, and summer love! As Paige and Dylan diligently try to find out what happened to Audrey they start uncovering questions and secrets from the previous summer that hopefully will lead them to answers!

This book is one I definitely recommend! Watch for it on March 5th!

Ooo yes this was everything I look for in a YA thriller! The end was surprising and unique—at least I’ve not seen a lot of these types of books end similarly. I do wish we got a bit more of the “why” and the “how” and the aftermath because the big reveal is always my favorite part. The romance was a bit flimsy at times, but that’s just the romance reader in me.

I really enjoyed audiobook performance as well. I’d definitely listen to the narrator again—she has a good range of voices. It was a quick listen with a few different POVs scattered throughout.

Looking on goodreads, it looks like the author has a solid amount of books coming out in the future, and I’ll definitely be reading them!

This story follows the timeline of Paige through the summer her best friend Audrey went missing, and the summer after, when she is trying to investigate disappearance herself, alongside Audrey’s brother, Dylan.

Keep in mind that this is a YA read, the main characters being teenagers, so you will definitely have some typical teenage tropes going on like young romance and girl drama. I personally do not mind the occasional YA read which is why I applied for this book in the first place. There is ZERO spice which I feel is highly appropriate.

The narrator, Amy McFadden, was great. There were times I found some parts of the narration to be annoying but quickly reminded myself she’s playing the part of teens, in which case? Nailed it!

Overall this was a fantastic YA mystery/thriller novel that kept me guessing and wanting more, more, more! I would absolutely recommend it to anyone that is looking for this type of read.

This was such a fast read for me. I went in with high expectations and finished the entire audiobook in a single afternoon. What’s truly fascinating is that, unlike most books in this genre, I found myself wanting more of the story and the characters after finishing it. Ichaso skillfully captures the small-town summer mystery vibe and adeptly develops the teenage characters and the genuinely enjoyable romance subplot. I definitely want to check out more of her work now.

So, if you’re a fan of mysteries like That’s Not My Name and The Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, chances are you’re going to love this one. I know I did.

This angsty teenage drama is full of secrets, lies, and the dark side of summer vacation. Main characters, Paige, Audrey, and Dylan spend every summer along the river in elite Clearwater Ridge. Everything seems to be going great until Audrey disappears.

This audiobook was fast paced and well narrated. I you love the Pretty Little Liars series, then I recommend checking out this audiobook. It is a great read for upcoming spring breaks.

Thank you @tantoraudio for allowing me to listen to this audiobook ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.

I have found that I really enjoy YA stories, and this one was very immersive and gripping. Due to work constraints, I had to listen to this over 2 days. I found myself thinking about this story while I couldn't listen to it, wondering what happened to Audrey. I was so desperate to piece together the puzzle.

I got to the middle of the story and just knew I had figured it out. Boy was I wrong. The twists in this one were so good and unexpected. I also enjoyed following Paige and Dylan and the varying dynamics of their relationship.

Amy McFadden did a great job bringing all the various characters to life and giving them depth. I did find the narrator's voice exasperating at times, but the story gripped me, and I was able to push those moments.

Thank you NetGalley and Tantor Audio for this ALC. All thoughts are my own.

Tailor made for fans of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder!

Paige and her family always spends the summer with their super rich family friends The Covingtons, but one summer their holiday takes a dark turn when the Covington's middle child (and Paige's best friend) Audrey suddenly disappear. Audrey has been acting strange all summer and pulling away from their friendship, something that Paige is not as sad about as she perhaps ought to be, due to the fact that this is the summer she finally starts to date Audrey's older brother Dylan after having had a crush on him for years.

When Paige's family returns the following summer, almost a year after Audrey's disappearance, she and Dylan start investigating yet again and this time they are determined to find out what happened.

This fast-paced read was perhaps not a life altering one, but one I'll recommend to any young person looking for a thriller this summer!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook. My first impression of this book was “The Summer I Turned Pretty” mixed with a missing person investigation. I thought it was entertaining and thought the mystery side of the book had its ups and downs. The narrator was great!

Received this audio ARC. The narrator was decent. I think all the teenage voices were pretty annoying, but that’s not on her, teenage voices are just annoying.
This is for sure a YA, which is not usually my thing, but I enjoyed this anyway and was totally hooked.
Paige spends every summer with her best friend Audrey and her older brother Dylan, but this summer is different and Audrey is acting strange and stand offish. Could it be because of Paige and Dylan’s blossoming romance? Or Audrey’s own summer fling? Lots of fun twists and turns with this book. Solid 4 ⭐️!

Thank you NetGalley and Tantor audio for the ARC.

A well structured YA thriller. This was easy to follow as an audiobook which is not always the case for a mystery. The author did a great job of dropping enough hints to make some guesses, but not so many that the twists were easy to anticipate.

The Summer She Went Missing was a fantastic read! Absolutely a 5 star book! I loved Paige’s quirkiness! It kept me engaged from start finish! The characters were engaging and so fun to read. The plot was executed terrifically and the pacing was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am recommending it to EVERYBODY!

I loved every single thing about this YA Thriller! A summer town, missing girls, a close-knit group of friends, new relationships, & a story where everyone is a suspect. Sign me up for all things Chelsea Ichaso!!

I've been a thriller & mystery reader for as long as I can remember. As a kid it was all Nancy Drew & Fear Street & I would have LOVED to read a book like this. It held my attention at 37 years old so I know I would have been ALL about it when I was younger!

I've read a good amount of YA thrillers since starting this bookstagram last year & let me tell you-- this one takes the cake.

At NO point did I really know what the heck was going on & once I thought I figured it out-- new things came to light. I think I finished this in two days because I just couldn't stop!! It gave me Pretty Little Liars vibes & I just ate it up!

Thank you SO much NetGalley, RB Media, & Chelsea Ichaso!!

This wasn't really anything special as far as mysteries/thrillers go, but it had some exciting moments. I hadn't read a YA mystery or thriller in a long time, but I thought I'd branch out. The narration of the audiobook was just OK.
