3.5 stars rounded up to 4 as a whole, I would say the stories range from a 3 up to 4.5 for me.
This is a collection of 13 ghost stories from around the world, some are really creepy and unnerving.
These are old tales and some are quite short punchy stories while others are longer and written in old English, so you need to tune yourself into the different types of language of each story.
One wonderful thing about the book, is that there will be a story in here for everyone (maybe even several). A great collection of spooky tales for those who enjoy a good scary story.
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC.
The compilation of stories and writing is set in an older time. I would not say these stories are very scary. It was hard to follow and or get into the stories being told. Some stories were shorter than others. I was expecting short stories to be captivating from the start and have a "wow" component but I genuinely just didn't feel that. I didn't feel particularly drawn to any characters in any of the stories either. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC, in exchange for my honest review.
I absolutely loved reading this book. I was completely drawn into the topic and could not stop reading it.
Absolutely the best read
Who doesn't love a good Ghost Story? I Love them.
Curl up this Halloween season with this collection. Some are ones I'm sure you have heard, while others will be a treat to read for the first time.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
Like most anthologies, some of these stories hit and some did not. I will say I DNF two of the stories because they did not hold my attention. And not all of these I would say are spine-tingling stories. Two of them I didn't find scary at all, but they were both really good in a haunting sort of way. I felt like most of these were great campfire ghost stories or spooky sleepover kind of stories. They aren't what we'd call scary by any standard today, but it was easy to see why people found them scary when they were first published. Three stars for this one because two of these stories inside became new favorites of mine, and one was a revisit from my college lit class and I got to come into that story a little older and a little wiser. So I took different things from it this time around, which was nice.
“The world’s favourite ghost stories” is a collection of old school ghost stories perfect for personal reading or campfire shares.
The stories are set in the early 1900s / late 1800s which gives them an extra touch of spooky from a time period ripe with superstition and unexplainable events.
Thank you to Callisto Publishing, Tony Brueski and NetGalley for the EARC.

No spooky, horror, ghost lover could ever pass up The World’s Favorite Ghost Stories!
I loved reading the different ghost stories, especially right before bed. They provided a nostalgic feel; the stories could have been paired with smores and a campfire.
I highly recommend everyone pick this up, especially with fall closely approaching.
Thank you to Tony Brueski, Callisto Publishing and NetGalley for the digital ARC provided through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!
This was such a wonderful read. Full of ghost & spooky stories. Some I’ve heard of before and others were brand new to me. Only a dream was a favorite of mine but all of them brought all the spooky vibes!!
For years people of all ages have enjoyed ghost stories. I loved the drawings/artwork throughout the book, very chilling ….

The World’s Favorite Ghost Stories by Tony Brueski is packed full of spooky stories that are sure to be a hit come Halloween (or anytime someone wants to be spooked!). There is something wonderful in the unity of different cultures all sharing a common fear that really ties together this collection.
This was lovely and totally perfect for spooky season. It'll come out at a perfect time for Halloween lovers to enjoy. They were quite a few creepy and spooky stories. Totally worth a read
I loved "seeing" ghosts and hauntings from different parts of the world, different cultures. They're so unique and yet all the same in that fascinating curious way those of us who love ghost stories understand.
An interesting collection of short ghost stories from around the world. Some are better than others of course, but all have merit. A good selection and a book I would recommend.
A collection of eerie and haunting ghost stories from around the world. The book opens with an introduction that sets the tone for the chilling tales to follow. We proceed into timeless ghost stories that have been passed down through generations, exploring ghost stories from different cultures, showcasing how the supernatural manifests in various parts of the world.
As a horror book, "The World's Favorite Ghost Stories" succeeds in several ways: atmosphere, variety, realism, cultural depth, psychological insights. "The World's Favorite Ghost Stories" is an effective horror book that combines classic and contemporary ghost stories with personal accounts and cultural insights. Its ability to create a spooky atmosphere and its variety of unsettling tales made it a compelling read for fans of the supernatural and horror genres.

The World’s Favorite Ghost Stories by Tony Brueski
I read this courtesy Net Galley. This book reminds us that truly, ghost stories don’t have to be relegated to only be told or read on Halloween or October or even December (remember, you can tell ghost stories in December!). Not only that, you can find and enjoy ghost stories from around the world, ranging from Lafcadio Hearn’s eerie tale of the jikininki in Japanese folklore to H. Rider Haggard’s “Only a Dream” to “The Specter Lovers” by J.S. LeFanu. Some of these stories will make you take a deep breath, some of them will make you shake your head, and some of them? Some of them will invade your dreams and for good or ill, you will remember them for days afterward. Enjoy these classic ghost stories—at your peril.

I fell in love with ghost stories as a young girl around the fire pit when our family would go camping. My uncle Tommy put on his special Coca-Cola hat and pants, which meant that we were in for some spooky tales. So I never pass up the opportunity to read ghost stories when I see them.
These were enjoyable, a few what I heard of before, but I would read these over and over again, merely to remember my youth and get my spooky on.
📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 Tony Brueski delivers absolutely beautiful multicultural ghost stories in his new novel, The World’s Favorite Ghost Stories. For centuries, people of all ages and all cultures from around the world have been fascinated with specters that, depending on your beliefs, share our world with us. In a departure from traditional jump scare ghost stories, Brueski shares traditional and timeless stories passed down through generations, across cultures that honor humanity’s fascination with the afterlife and the need to explain what happens to us when we die.

A collection of short but sweet ghost stories 😊
I liked that these varied in theme although my favourite two had a similar theme of a widower and his plan to move on!!
These were written by a range of different authors in the late 1800s to early 1900s so tone was formal and 'proper English ' which reminded me of my uni days 🤣 I didn't find these to be scary ghost stories but more thought provoking and intriguing due to the cultural differences in the stories and authors. A good read before bedtime!!
