Book Three in the Riley Thorn series carries on with the loveable, diverse cast of characters (and animals) we've grown used to from the first two books. I really liked the plot of this book (can't go into details without spoilers) but trust me this book provides some answers to questions raised in the previous book. Nick and Riley's relationship continues to develop while Nick becomes over invested with a case and Riley is dealing with her psychic power not working as they usually do.

I'm completely obsessed with Detective Weber. Maybe someday he'll get his own book...novella...bonus chapter...honestly I'd take anything. I want inside that mans head.

Lucy Score books are always fantastic from the very first page and this was no exception. This was a re-read for me and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around!
I love how this series is action packed while also being hilarious and easy to follow. How Lucy can take such a random group of people and turn them into funny, entertaining and relatable characters is such a skill! I also love how Lucy is always sure to provide the funniest one liners every time.

If Lucy Score writes it, I'm going to read it! This book was hilarious! It was my first Riley Thorn novel, even though this is the third in the series and can be read as a standalone - I wish I would have read the first two just to have a great understanding of the characters (I've purchased book 1 & 2 to read!) This book has great banter and was such a fun read! Can't wait for book 4 to come out in July!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

I was a bit taken aback by the number of characters and how wild each of their personalities were. I know this is a series, but it is also an option to be stand alone. There is a lot of interesting components, and it is more humorous. I found it beyond odd each character and their reaction were just too farfetched. I can see this appealing to those who do not like strong thrillers and want a lighter funny twist. I personally could not get very into it because there was no likeable characters. I did enjoy the psychic element and found it a cool factor. I would say 2.5 so I am rating it a 3.

This book was hilarious!
I had not read anything by Lucy Score before but had heard of her in the romance novel community. Although there is romance, it isn't the main plot.
The Blast from the Past is a light, refreshing, 'who dunnit' with multiple twists and turns. It reminds me of slapstick comedy in places - and that works!

The Blast From the Past, by Lucy Score, is the third in this series. While it could be read as a stand-alone, you need to read the other two first for maximum enjoyment. As always, the characters, especially Ms. Penny, are great fun! There is a bit of a mystery, some witty banter, and lots of caring among the characters that make the story a joy to read. Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher, for providing me with the ARC ebook I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

This books was hilarious.I love Lucy’s writing style, I will continue to read her books.Since i haven’t read previous books in this series I was little lost but it was easy to catch up on what is happening. So now I have to read first two books ,I’m hooked 😅

This books is great mixed of
Mystery, magnificent characters and comedy. It’s hands down unique story was written in third person from dual perspective. It’s a page turner for sure. Ms.Penny was hilarious 😆 as she always is and her “primo pro bono “ cases ,so many twists you will laugh out loud.

Riley Thorn and her private investigator boyfriend are all moved into their new fixer upper. Nick gives up sleeping and showering to obsess over the cold cases that still hunts him ,while Riley learning more about her psychic abilities every day and there’s sometimes learning curve involved. Summer is over and so is this Psychic Detective’s bad luck or is it?

All of our favorite characters are back in Riley Thorn and the Blast from the Past. Riley and Nick have moved into the mansion next door and while Riley is tackling her to-do list, including getting the smell out of the stinky closet, Nick is obsessing over the case that has haunted him for years, finding Detective Weber's sister, Beth. Nick is determined to find her ever since Riley's Grandmother told them she is still alive. When Beth finds Riley first with a new name and an unusual story about where she has been all these years, Riley is determined to get to the truth.

The Riley Thorn series is quickly becoming one of my favorite series of 2024. I love the characters in this series and the situations they get into. I think we should get a novella about the ridiculous cases Mrs. Penny works on. I am so excited to see that this series is continuing with book 4 coming out in July.

Riley Thorn and the Blast from the Past comes out May 14th.

If you haven’t read a 𝐑𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐧 book you are truly missing out on some of the greatest written side characters. Lucy Score is an absolute queen at creating wild, crazy and chaotic characters and scenes in this series that make me laugh each time. Mrs. Penny is freaking HILARIOUS. 😂

This book was just as wonderful as the rest of the series. There’s humor, mystery and love all wrapped into a wild story. Riley is struggling with not only her psychic powers but also doubts about her relationship with Nick. There is way less of her psychic gifts in this book but that was for a specific reason and it didn’t take away from the book at all.

I love Nick Santiago so much. He is a man completely devoted to Riley but in this book he had to work out some of his past demons.

Riley’s dad teaching Kellen and Nick about ALECTO, was the highlight of the book for me! 🤣 It was pure gold.

If you like romcoms that will have you cackling, go read this series right now! Book 4, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝, comes out July 16!

This is book 3 in the series, whilst you probably can read these as a standalone story I really recommend reading the full series in order. You get much more of a better experience and why would you wanna miss out on the previous two books which are full of humour and so much fun. These are just pure joy to read. I love the cosy mystery, romance and the wonderfully charming characters from the main cast to the support and characters they are all just lovable and so quirky. Highly recommended reading and I can’t wait for book four.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is part of the series, but can be read alone. This book contains mayhem, humor, and a lot of zany characters.
A solid three star read.

This was a bit silly and ridiculous. Not sure I totally enjoyed it all. I understand the characters are supposed to be quirky but it was a bit much.

I so enjoyed the second book in the series and was so eager to start this one. It found it predictable, with a lot of the same themes from the previous book and not as imaginative.

Lmao!! This is the first mystery thriller that I’ve read that I actually lmao!! Besides being really funny this book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, absolutely the best characters and a few crazy moments!! The storyline was so funny and interesting! I can’t wait for more!! I highly recommend reading this book and series! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

This book offers a captivating mix of humour, unexpected twists, and engaging characters, with Lucy Score delivering excellence throughout the series. While initially slow-paced, the story gains momentum midway, resolving past mysteries and introducing new ones. Overall, it's an enjoyable addition to the Riley Thorn Series, although slightly predictable and lacking the uproarious humour of its predecessors, with the recurring theme of interrupted intimacy starting to lose its charm.

I received an ARC copy of this book for free from netgalley and I’m writing this review voluntarily based on my own opinion.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc of this book. I could not wait to read book three in the Riley Thorn series, book two left me wanting more. Which I have to say book three also left me wanting more. I hope Riley "whatever her middle name is" Thorn has many more books to tell her stories. Riley Thorn is a relatable female main character with her odd family and eccentric group of friends. I love the side characters in this series as well as the male main character. Each book in this series has a fun mystery. Once I picked up this book I could not put it down until I finished it. This book was light and fun. I cannot wait for the next Riley Thorn book.

Lucy Score does it again! Riley Thorn once again finds herself in the middle of a storm of family drama, psychic woes, and broody Nick moments. The third book contains of the magic of the last two books and then some! Once again, I couldn’t put a Riley Thorn book down. It was full of page after page laugh-out-loud, grinning ear to ear, addictive fun.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for providing this book, with my honest review below.

It’s no surprise I love the Riley Thorn series from Lucy Score and in fact all of Lucy’s books (what is interesting there is that this series differs so much from her romance and yet both are always entertaining). The Blast from the Past finds Riley and her boyfriend Nick moved into the dilapidated murder house next door to her very elderly roommates she has previously lived with, recovering from her grandmother’s visit in the previous book. But Nick isn’t holding up his end of the deal of restoring the home or even doing PI work because he’s obsessed with finding Beth, his friend and previous police partner’s sister. The Beth storyline was left as an open end in the previous book when Riley’s Grandmother announces she isn’t dead having mysteriously disappeared years ago. What culminates in this book is a discovery of where Beth has been and a lot of hijinks that surround that mystery. I was sure the disappearance of Beth was going to be heartbreaking given how the series has treated it previously but I was a lot more entertained than I should have been if that was the case.

I once again loved visiting Riley’s world and getting to know her family, neighbors, friends, and even slimey ex husband a little better. Every character in this series, including the new ones in this book, are so entertaining and paired with great plots I always enjoy reading the books in these series.

Another engaging read

I was super excited to get into this one, having loved the other two. So I began reading and was like...Wait. What? What is going on right now!?

I completely forgot how each of these begin. Once I got ahold of myself, I read this straight through. It was impossible to put down.

This series is very entertaining and addictive. I very strongly recommend reading this series in the correct reading order to get the most from the characters and storyline.

I am absolutely not dropping spoilers, but the creativity of this author provides a reader with many different characters and smaller storylines to follow. From the neighbors, to the family dynamics, and Riley's struggles with her gift, there's a lot going on. It was nice to drop into this crazy world (for a bit) and visit with characters I enjoy.

I am absolutely a fan of this author and her numerous other books and series. As I said before, it is your best interest to read this story in order. I hope this isn't the end of this entertaining series.
