The start of this one was cute and a bit funny but seemed slow to get to the real action and plot. After halfway I was more invested and wanted to see how everything played out!
Brody was so sweet with his compliments and adoration for his girl. He redeemed himself after a major mishap for sure and the ending was nicely wrapped up yet open for the next book. I can’t wait to see where the series goes from here on out.

Meghan Quinn never fails to make me genuinely laugh out loud when I read one her books. I always have a good time with her stories, but this one had such like early 2000s romcom vibes that it almost felt nostalgic.
I loved the side characters and as someone who has read a LOT of MQ books, I always get excited when characters from other books/series make an appearance.
Oh and the banter was *chefs kiss* as always
Highlights:
- Romance: MF
- Brother’s best friend
- Fake dating
- Hate-to-love
- Forced proximity
- One bed
Thank you to Meghan Quinn, GoodGirlsPR and Bloom Books for the advance reader copy. Decision to read/review was my own. Opinion is my own.
3.5 stars rounded down to 3. I am a huge Meghan Quinn fan + will read everything she writes and always support her and advertise for her upcoming releases. However, this one just wasn’t my favorite. Brody just wasn’t my kind of MMC. He was always getting hurt and was always the comedic relief but it just made him seem a little dorky? Also, this one seemed kinda similar to the way I hate him (ie. Both fake dating/marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers, one bed, etc). I also found a couple issues with the plot. I didn’t love how he went to the wedding for his boss? Seemed kinda odd and then I got an ick that they were both pretending to be their friends for personal gain? I can’t see that going over well in the real world. I’ll keep reading the series bc I loved the banter, the laughs and all the connections to her other books!

This one had its ups & downs for me for sure by MY GOD the audio was so good. Two of my faves killed it: Jason Clarke & Erin Mallon!! I could get lost in listening to them speak. ANYWHO BACK TO WHAT YOURE REALLY HERE FOR.
This newest of Meghan’s honest to god caused me so much fucking anxiety I had to take a break bc I was so damn nervous anticipating the worst to happen in the story that it was actually impacting me IRL!!!!! I love romcoms because they make me giggle & enjoy them, but Jesus this one was almost as if something went wrong at each & every turn!!!
The sexy scenes were 💯 but the bad shit was BAD. My heart went out to Brody lmao. I was so beyond thrilled that we were finally getting Maggie’s story (from the way I hate him & one of my all time faves) but this one just hurt me 😭😭😭
There were still some enjoyable scenes & I had a good time (at the beginning), but not my favorite MQ book by any means.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes:
Fake dating
Forced proximity (in a bungalow in bora bora!!!)
Only one bed
It’s always been you
Brother’s best friend
Hate to Love
Overall, this was a fun and lighthearted book and I really liked the idea of the book! I loved the enemies to lovers, fake dating, and brother best friends tropes that this book had! There’s some things I really loved about this book while other things I really disliked…
To start, I loved the vibe of this book and where it was set! Being set in Bora Bora, it had all the island vacation vibes that I loved! This book transported me on vacation and I love the details and the fun setting! I really enjoyed the side characters in this book, especially the Hopper siblings! I also loved the humour in this book that I now expect from a MQ book, as well as the spicy scenes! It was a bit cheesy and predictable, but it was a really fun story overall!
There’s a couple of things I didn’t love too too much about this book, such as how it felt a bit long, especially in the middle of the book… I also didn’t love our two main characters all that much and I actually found them a bit annoying at times… Especially Brody at the beginning, I felt like a lot of what he said was quite cringey 🙈
Overall, this was a pretty fun book with fun tropes and a fun plot! There was some ups and downs, but I was so happy to finally see Maggie’s story and I love how she finally found her happily ever after!

Maggie is the best girl’s girl ever and, just like I felt after The Way I Hate Him, I just want to be her best friend! Brody, although I wouldn’t say is in my top few book boyfriends, leaves you just wanting to hug him throughout the book. Poor dude had some bad luck!
The characters that made the book for me, though, were the Hoppers and Jude. I need the back story of Haisley and Jude and can’t wait to read more about the Hopper twins. Daddy Reggie can suck it and I wish Regina would have played a bigger part. Gary is a lovable doofus and his wife, Patricia, is a saint to put up with his and Brody’s shenanigans!
Love it! Definitely recommend!
You know when you pick up a Meghan Quinn Book you're in for a good time and as always she delivered on that. This book was so much more than laughs and steam, I loved the dynamic between Maggie and Brody and Brody and Gary, who is Maggies brother and Brodys best friend. They have THE sweetest bromance. It was adorable.
Poor Brody, I really felt sorry for him he just seemed so lost I all the stuff he went through, as funny as it was I was cringing with him. Maggie was a hoot. I loved her when we first met her she's one of my favourite Quinn characters. I loved how the story panned out, especially with the Almond Bay, Cane Brother's tie-in.
I really can't wait to see where these characters take us next. I love them all and can't wait to see what they bring us next.
4.5/5
This was such a cute and fun summer romance read! The tropes were: brothers best friend, enemies to lovers, fake dating, oh and the MMC looks like Henry Cavill. 😏
Maggie and Brody had amazing chemistry, and this read like an early 2000’s rom com- I felt almost nostalgic while reading it, I laughed a LOT, I love Meghan Quinn’s ability to write an interesting story while also making you laugh.
My only complaint is that it’s so long- this is a me thing though, I just don’t like reading romance books longer than 350 pages. But, it was worth it, and I really really enjoyed it!
This book is a complete & utter delight. Fast paced, funny, and lovable characters that you’re constantly rooting for.
It felt like an escape to a tropical vacation without having to get up off of my couch. A perfect summer read - preferably on a beach somewhere with a drink in hand.
This is the first book I’ve read by Meghan Quinn and will absolutely not be my last.
Brody & Maggie oh where do I begin! Bridesmaid for Hire had me laughing out loud and swooning even harder. Loved it!
This book was such a fun read. Both Brody & Maggie are looking to further their careers and so of course a fake relationship is the answer. The hilarious moments that followed (the cuddling and wardrobe choices to name a few) and everything else in between will leave you with all the feels and just loving this story. I was able to listen to the audio and this book is another perfect matchup with Jason Clarke & Erin Mallon as Brody & Maggie. If you love audio I definitely recommend!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I honestly believe that Meghan Quinn rarely misses. Bridesmaid for Hire yet again did NOT disappoint. I had the BEST time reading Maggie and Brody's story. These two were so much fun together and SO obviously perfect for one another. Maggie is such a strong FMC and Brody is a total secret cinnamon roll who is totally gone for her.
Meghan's comedic writing just hits the right way every time I read one of her books. If you take the best banter + HOT spicy scenes + the slapstick-type comedy that Meghan excels at, Bridesmaid for Hire is the perfect rom-com read! The Bora Bora setting makes this book a great choice for when you're by the pool or at the beach this year.
If you've read the Almond Bay series, you've already met Maggie and Brody, but you don't have to read the Almond Bay series first (you should totally read it anyway though). Bridesmaid for Hire is a complete standalone and Meghan did a wonderful job setting up even more storylines that will be connected to all of her other books.
The duet narration by Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon was also so well done. They brought a ton of emotion to the characters but their delivery of the jokes was spot on. Thank you to Meghan Quinn for providing an eARC and ALC of Bridesmaid for Hire to your review crew!

I enjoyed their story. I seeing what the activities if the day brought. I found myself giggling at different times throughout the whole book. Their story was captivating and I recommend this book.

if you want a quick read that makes you feel like you’re watching a 2000’s nostalgic rom com movie, i urge you to pick this up.
i swear they could make this book into a movie right now and it would be hilarious. imagine a wedding in bora bora with rich people, normal people trying to impress said rich people, a stand-in bridesmaid, embarrassing moments, and lots of vacation sex talk/banter. that’s the whole premise… anyway i rest my case.
also brother’s best friend turned enemies to lovers is just an immaculate trope overall. the banter between maggie and brody was borderline insane, but i was here for all the petty !!
bonus if you like to read about men squirm.. because boy, did brody go through hell 😭 i had second hand embarrassment the WHOLE time lol. but that man must be protected at all costs 😭😭
This book has the same spice and charm as all of Meghan Quinn's books. Despite the high page count, the story flowed from chapter one with perfect pacing. I don't know how she continues to craft these well plotted romances yet still feels fresh and new every time. This is a must read for fans of steamy contemporary fiction with some of the most popular tropes like brother's best friend, fake dating, and enemies to lovers. Highly recommend.
This was such a fun read.
I adore a good Meghan Quinn romance because they’re always like watching my favorite romcom movies, so comforting. I laugh out loud and adore all the characters. This one was no different.
Maggie is endearing, Brody made me laugh the entire time. And then the SPICE was 😅🥵 perfection. This one is spicy.
Honestly I will read everything and anything she writes because of the feeling it gives me! I can’t put them down and they always get me out of my slumps.
Seriously funny!
Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: mutual pining, enemies to lovers
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This book was seriously the funniest book I've ever read! I had a tummy ache from all the belly laughs and went through a bunch of tissues from my tears of laughter. The MMC was slightly neurotic, super earnest, and kind of a crusty cinnamon roll. Crusty on the surface, but super gooey on the inside. I loved it! He and the FMC have this best friend's sister, mutual pining thing going on that manifests as top level snark from both of them. Great storyline that moves relatively quickly with ALL the banter and fun best friends. Loved seeing some of my favorite Meghan Quinn characters and I can't wait for the next one!
I’ve been looking forward to reading this book since I read the cameo of Brody and Maggie in the Reason I married him, book 2 of the almond Bay series. I’m looking forward to their story, and was glad that I was chosen with an arc.
I feel like these characters are different in a lot of ways than Megan’s characters in the almond bay series. I don’t think that Brody is as masculine as some of the other characters Meghan has written. I think that Maggie is a good strong, female character, but at times she came across as heartless. Both characters have held a torch for one another for years, and they both have instead focused on furthering their careers, which is why they are on this island together, attending this wedding together. Maggie sees an opportunity to step in and be a last-minute bridesmaid which she hopes to use to her advantage to help further her wedding planner career. Brody is there because he works for the Hoppers and upper management was invited to the wedding, but his boss sent him in her place. He was told to use this time to get to know Reginald Hopper, , and hopefully that would help him with his upcoming business pitch. The two main characters just happen to come across one another on this island they both see opportunity to pretend to be a couple in order to further, their careers, which leads to a week of wedding activities that dont go so well. you would think that these misadventures would be something that they could bond over or laugh about but instead, it just gets on one another’s nerves Because it’s affecting their careers
There are a few spicy scenes, but I don’t think that they are as spicy as some of the others that Megan has wrote before.
There were a few laugh out loud moments, but a lot of these moments were just Brody being kind of pathetic.
I just really didn’t feel like these two characters belong together and the whole story didn’t even seem plausible. .
However, I know that this book will be a spinoff to a whole different series that Megan has coming and I am definitely looking forward to that.
Thank you to Meghan Quinn for an ARC of this book, all opinions are my own.
There are times when I read books and it plays out in my head perfectly, like I'm watching a movie... there were several scenes that did just that to me with this book!
Brody just could not catch a break and while I felt bad for him, I just couldn't help but crack up laughing with his reaction to everything...especially that hike. IYKYK!
My biggest kudos with this book was the singular moment when Brody decided to man up and call Maggie's brother once he decided he was in. So many times in other books with the brother's best friend trope, the problem arises from the MMC not coming right out and telling the best friend. This was refreshing and made me swoon even more for Brody.
Maggie's ideas for her wedding planning were so fun and made me wish something like that was around when I was getting married! I loved that she was a go getter, but didn't put her needs before other peoples. She's caring, hardworking and funny as hell.
Do yourself a favor and just take in the text messages between Maggie and Hattie, ABSOLUTE GOLD! Meghan Quinn is a genius at the text message conversations and frankly if she wrote a book of nothing but text messages, I'd read it in a heartbeat!
You know when it's a MQ book there's going to be spice, it didn't disappoint! I'm so glad I found Meghan when I did because she is my go to girl!

Ya’ll. Meghan NEVER ever fails to make you laugh. And this one, omg 🤣 I was giggling like an idiot the entire time through this book. The hilarious banter between the two main characters, the interactions they had and the things that went down — 10/10 recommend. It was a good time and I thoroughly enjoyed myself while reading this.

Meghan Quinn with a new story that has some of my favorite tropes ever...sign me up!
This book had me feeling like I had worked out for hours. Seriously! My abs were on fire from all the laughing I was doing. Maggie and Brody have some serious chemistry and their banter is next level. As with any MQ story, I know to expect to "get up in my feels" as well lol. I do feel some parts were drug out a little and I did find myself skimming through those parts, otherwise this is a fantastic read and classic MQ rom-com.
