Christmas Eve Love Story by Ginny Baird is a heartwarming and magical time-travel romance that will leave readers feeling cozy and full of holiday spirit. The story follows Annie Jones, a window designer at a New York City department store, who finds herself caught in a time loop on Christmas Eve after an unexpected mishap with her holiday display. Waking up the next morning to find it's Christmas Eve again, Annie is initially bewildered, but soon realizes she has an infinite number of chances to get things right—particularly when it comes to her own life.
As Annie repeatedly experiences the same Christmas Eve, she begins to reevaluate her priorities, growing closer to security guard Braden Tate and discovering the importance of friendship, love, and community. The time loop, reminiscent of Groundhog Day, gives Annie the opportunity to make small yet impactful changes in her life, leading her to realize the depth of her own desires and what she's truly been missing.
Baird’s writing is filled with warmth and charm, effortlessly weaving together themes of self-discovery, romance, and the magic of the holiday season. Christmas Eve Love Story is a delightful, feel-good read for anyone who loves a Christmas romance with a twist, perfect for fans of Miracle on 34th Street and A Winter in New York. The time-loop concept adds a fresh and engaging element to the holiday romance genre, making this a perfect read for cozying up by the fire.
This was a cute read. Initially, it felt very repetitive and I almost DNFed it, but I'm glad I stuck with it. After getting beyond the halfway mark, there were different nuances to the story that made it become a bit more entertaining. I loved how Annie evolved throughout the story and the relationships that she cultivated with her neighbors. I also loved that she was able to get her spark back after going through the time loop. A sweet read for the holidays!
Time loop books are usually pretty hit or miss for me. It depends on the characters and the humor. This one was lacking in both areas for me, unfortunately. It was a cute story overall and worked well as a light, easy read. I just found it too repetitive and the characters and humor weren't as strong as I would've liked.
I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.
I liked this book so much! It’s entertaining and funny. The plot is a Groundhog’s Day type, the FMC Annie is stuck repeating Christmas Eve. She’s the window decorator at a NYC department store, and every Christmas Eve her display gets destroyed by 2 out of control kids. The best part about the Christmas Eves is meeting Braden, a good looking security guard. Eventually he gets flashbacks of previous days as he helps Annie put her display back together. There’s also the store Santa, who’s more Santa like than the average mall Santa.
I don’t want to give away any more! I highly recommend this book, 4.5 stars.
This was a sweet, Christmassy book but unfortunately it just wasn't for me. The writing was not the best and the main character drove me crazy. It was a little too long and a bit repetitive but I pushed through and finished it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Ginny Baird is my new favorite author for holiday romances. To be honest, I am over the trend of making Christmas stories be as smutty as possible, so an author like Baird, who writes heartwarming and wholesome, yet realistic and modern seasonal romances, is so refreshing. I read her latest novel, Christmas Eve Love Story, actually on Christmas Eve this year, and it was the absolute perfect novel to get lost in over the Christmas holiday.
Christmas Eve Love Story is a book caught in a time loop. It features Annie Jones, a window dresser for a high end NYC department store, Lawson’s Finest, who seems to have lost her sparkle this holiday season because her windows just aren’t drawing in the crowds Lawson’s wants or needs. Annie is having the Christmas Eve to end all Christmas Eves … and not in a good way. She is running late to work, she has a near catastrophe with Lawson’s cute security guard, Braden, and it looks like she might actually be handed a demotion instead of the promotion she was expecting this holiday season. When a pair of unruly kids literally destroy her window set-up, she knows things can’t get any worse.
But get worse they do, because when Annie wakes up on Christmas Day, determined to improve on the travesty that was Christmas Eve, she discovers that it is actually Christmas Eve all over again! Annie finds herself in a perpetual time loop, reliving Christmas Eve day after day. As she becomes accustomed to what she can expect on the repeat of this day, she learns that she can make little tweaks here and there to make Christmas Eve a little more merry and bright for everyone. Is this the secret to breaking the time loop?
With the assistance of Braden, who Annie is apparently falling for, and a little magical help from a department store Santa (or is he?), Annie may be on her way to having her best Christmas Eve ever.
I truly cherished this “Christmas Eve love story!” This story is full of comfort and joy, and surely made my seasonal reading merry and bright. While some readers may grow tired of Christmas Eve on repeat, I actually enjoyed it because I didn’t have to think too hard about this book’s plot or keep up with a lot of superfluous characters over my own busy holiday season. Plus, the setting of a luxurious department store with window dressings and Santa to boot helped build the atmosphere and set the scene for a magical Christmas. I adored this book!
I loved this one. I think the groundhog movie vibe of this book made it so much to read. It was cute and fun, and I recommend this for a seasonal read. I think it was perfect for the holiday season. I look forward to more from this author.

Caught in a time warp, this wholesome Christmas story is about the magic of Christmas and how we get many chances to get things right in our life.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are mine.
This is perfect for fans of the groundhog movie . It follows Annie whose creation is ruined by rowdy kids. Instead of wallowing which she did Santa who appears to be very real give her a top which has her relieving the same day over and over again . Ehat do you do when you get a do over? Loved the premise, the secondary characters especially the security guard Braden . It's a lovely story that reminds us all on what's important always.
I loved this author's writing style! It was such an enjoyable book and the characters were well developed. The story was also very well paced and sucked me in from the beginning.
Annie is a window designer for a department store in NYC. When two rambunctious kids ruin her display on Christmas Eve, Santa gives her tips on how to start over. The next day she wakes up and it’s Christmas Eve all over again. No matter what she does, she keeps reliving the same day and she has no idea how to get out of the time loop she’s stuck in. With a little help from Braden, the store’s security guard she is determined to get back to the present.
This was a cute Christmas-Eve time loop story. I love holiday window displays, so I thought this was so much fun to read a story about a window designer. The time loop got a bit redundant as there weren’t many major changes the 12 times she experienced Christmas Eve, but overall it was a cute story.
Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the advance copy.
If you’re looking for a ridiculous over the top romance filled with holiday magic then look no further.
Annie Jones works hard designing windows for iconic New York City department store Lawson's Finest. So when her Christmas window display gets upended by some rambunctious kids on Christmas Eve, the all-too-realistic store Santa gives Annie a little decorating tip on how to start over. With help from friendly security guard Braden Tate, Annie repairs the damage and heads home. But when she wakes the next morning, she's bewildered to find that it isn't Christmas day at all, but Christmas Eve all over again.
I am a sucker for found family and time loop stories. This Christmas story has both and tons of hilarious hi jinx. While it’s hefty for a holiday romcom, not once did this drag on or get boring. If you don’t like cheesy hallmark romances, then you might as well skip this. But if you need a reminder to believe in Christmas like you did as a child then you need to read this asap
Annie gets stuck in a groundhog day-esque time loop on Christmas eve and goes on an adorable adventure of befriending neighbors, perfecting her department store window display, and of course, falling for the security gaurd at work. This story was absolutely adorable and had me smiling the whole way through, Not to mention, bonus points for the festive storyline!
A cozy little Christmas story with time travel elements. This was a cute holiday read but I wasn't totally sucked in to it due to the character development. Over all, it was an ok read for me. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
I was initially drawn to the book because it's a Christmas-themed romance and you have the time loop Groundhog day-inspired element that piques your curiosity (it's a big trope now). Overall, I thought it was cute, it's set in the hectic decor of a department store, so it's festive aplenty. But unfortunately, I thought it dragged way too much. I think that some heavier editing and cutting would've helped the pace a great deal.
Groundhog Day meets Hallmark Christmas movie. It was a fun read although definitely repetitive which I get is the point but at times just felt a little longer than it needed to be. I liked Annie but what I liked most about the book was not the love story between her and Braden but the growing relationships with the people in her apartment building. I was more invested in those stories and those people that I found myself wanting to skim the parts at the department store to get back there. It was an enjoyable read and would make a lovely movie.
A fairly predicable Christmas rom com, and while I didn't love it I did enjoy reading it. I just think its one of those Christmas reads that you read just once.
Just finished this and I put down my phone with a smile on my face. This is a gorgeous well-thought-out story with so much depth and meaning. The starting is a little slow so you'll have to bear with it, but it picked up later on and I'm so glad I didn't lose hope. I've read another book by the author previously and I liked that one better, or maybe that's just hindsight.
The story follows Annie who gets stuck in a time loop, reliving the day before Christmas over and over again. At times I felt that the writing was repeating itself with every redo, but I love how the author added little twists and changes to the plot to keep it lively while omitting details we already knew. There are a lot of characters in the story but we meet them slowly so it isn't overwhelming. Braden is such a sweet love interest, he's someone everyone wants in their life. Supportive, considerate and so attractive. I also wish we saw more of Tina- Annie's best friend- because she was mentioned so many times but wasn't on the page much. I highly recommend this book, it's such a treat and perfect for those cozy Christmassy vibes.
I enjoyed this time loop Christmas romance by Baird, but it really took until about midway before it hit its stride. The relationships that Annie develops really make the story for me. If you are a fan of Groundhog day this is a must read.
A fun festive read. Annie is stuck in a time loop, reliving Christmas eve. Can Braden help her get to the next day? I liked how we saw both points of view.
