I have always adored Ginny Baird's novels and her newest book, Christmas Eve Love Story, is no different. I loved getting to know the main characters, Annie and Braden. I found their story to full of delight and fun filled. I would absolutely love to see this tale on screen. I thought it was a fabulous read. Wonderful.
I am going to give Christmas Eve Love Story five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who love sweet and clean romantic fiction, as well as, those centered around the most magical time of the year. As always, I will be on the look out for more entertaining releases from Ginny Baird in the future.
I received a digital copy of Ginny Baird's Christmas Eve Love Story from the author, but was not required to write a review, nor a positive one. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
This Christmas Eve time loop love story was very cute and fun. Annie is very isolated, with only her foster cat and her job as a department store window designer to fill her life. She has an awful Christmas Eve, from cat escapades to children knocking down the tree in the window. She does get to meet Braden the attractive security guard who helps her clean up the display, and ends up meeting four of her five neighbors over the day for the first time. Then she wakes up the next day and it's Christmas Eve all over again. And again. And again.
I love the movie Groundhog Day and have since a kid, so I'm always in for a good time loop story and this one did the job. I liked the little twist in this one about the store's fill in Santa with the extra twinkly eyes and how certain things stay changed each day as Annie works towards figuring out how to escape the time loop.
Eventually, Braden remembers bits and tries to help her and they become closer. My only issue with the book is that it occasionally switches to his POV, which I liked having, but the switches weren't always super clear. Sometimes it would switch after a scene break within the same chapter, and there weren't name labels attached anywhere. That said, because I read an arc, it may just be the formatting of that version. You never know what they're going to tweak and change before publication, so I don't want to fault the story itself at all.
This story was as much about the two of them as it was Annie creating relationships with other people in her life, including her neighbors. Because of its found family aspect, plus the time loop fun, plus the romance, I think this would make a great Christmas movie!
I read it on its release day, Oct 8, and it got me excited for Christmas this year. But I still wanted to wait until the actual holiday season because posting about Christmas books before Halloween always seems odd to me. Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC!
Annie Jones works hard designing windows for iconic New York City department store Lawson's Finest. So when her Christmas window display gets upended by some rambunctious kids on Christmas Eve, the all-too-realistic store Santa gives Annie a little decorating tip on how to start over. With help from friendly security guard Braden Tate, Annie repairs the damage and heads home. But when she wakes the next morning, she's bewildered to find that it isn't Christmas day at all, but Christmas Eve all over again.
Annie was stuck in a time loop trying to figure out what would get her out of it. As she woke up to the same day over and over, she began to get frustrated but still held out hope that she'd come out of it eventually.
In the process, she got to know more about the people around her and made friends and a community. Her feelings for Braden also grew as he helped her every time the window display was knocked down.
This was exciting at first but definitely got a bit repetitive even though the author did try to trim down the day's events as they reoccurred. Christmas day itself was full of all the Christmassy vibes and had a Hallmark feel to it 😄
I wasn't a fan of the narrator's performance on Braden's POV. It was hard to differentiate when switching POVs but I loved her performance in everything else.

3.75 out of 5 stars.
What a sweet and sentimental little Christmas story!
This book is for those who love the Christmas song 'The Twelve Days of Christmas', just sayin'. *winks*
The story was adorable, it was like a Hallmark Christmas movie turned into a book. And bonus points, because 'Christmas Eve Love Story' was the first Christmas book I read this year, therefore it'll remain a special book for me.
Groundhog Day is one of my favourite films, some was instantly drawn to this book. Through a little Christmas magic, Annie relives Christmas Eve 12 times, finding friendship and love along the way. I loved the found family theme and the way Annie learned how to appreciate living in the moment and making connections with her neighbours. Braden features in each relived day and he and Annie gradually fall in love, over and over again. It’s a sweet, heartwarming romance that’s just perfect for the holiday season!
Think Groundhog Day at Christmas and you have part of the plot of Christmas Eve Love Story by Ginny Baird. As Annie Jones works through a Christmas Eve disaster at work, she finds herself waking up to do it all again. Not sure what she is missing she struggles to get out of the Christmas expectancy but never the Christmas Day time loop that she finds friendship, family in neighbors and even love right there at her work.
A sweet story that has the reader thinking about living in the present and not just going through the motions of life. Each day is special with its own blessings.
Christmas Eve Love Story by Ginny Baird
Christmas Eve Love Story is a cute holiday romance. Annie works as a window dresser for a department store. It’s Christmas Eve, and unfortunately nothing seems to be going right. Her cat Leo is being a naughty kitty, she’s late for work, she gets told that she’s not getting a promotion, and then moments before her boss shows at the store, two boys knock down her window display, oh and she literally lands at the feet at the handsome security guard Braeden. But what happens when Christmas Magic makes your day repeat over and over? Well you try to figure out how to make it end. Meanwhile you explore the spark with Braeden. Downfall is only you remember the day before.
This is a super cute ground hogs day style story with a little mix of the magic of Miracle on 34th street. I loved the meet cute, which repeats in different ways each time. The story was full of magic and that heartwarming feeling of Christmas. I liked the way the author showed family can be the one you create, as Annie goes from being a loner, to meeting her neighbors and developing relationships. I enjoyed the way the days, even though they repeated, had little differences each time.
If your looking for acute heartwarming holiday romance, than this is a recommend. I finished it in one day, not wanting to put it down.
A great Christmas romance! Really enjoyed this book but I do feel the 12 days started to get a bit repetitive. The idea behind it is really cute but it needed more to make each day feel like I needed to read all 12.
I think this was too long to be enjoyable. I understand the repeating of Christmas Eve 12 times matching the 12 days of Christmas, and I think there were great parts of this, but the constant repetition got to be too much. Then, at the end, I kept thinking it was over and it kept going. Groundhogs-Day-eqsue novels are tough to keep engaging, and unfortunately this fell into the same trap as others have before.
I love a good Groundhog day/timeloop romance and this holiday themed one that has a Department store window display artist repeating December 24th over and over until she gets the window scene just right was a heartwarming, feel good read with the perfect amount of magic and whimsy. Perfect for fans of Tessa Bailey's Window shopping (minus the spice). This was also good on audio narrated by Emma Faye. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing this book, with my honest review below.
Christmas Eve Love Story was a cute holiday book about Annie, who is an incredibly lonely visual merchandiser and needs to keep her job to be able to afford and own her geriatric foster cat, and Braden, a security guard at her store recovering from his tour in Iraq which has left him with PTSD.
These two meet up with a literal bang (not that kind) on Christmas Eve. When Annie possibly gets put under a charm by the store Santa she relives that meeting, and all kinds of variations of the day, 12 times. I love a ‘what could be’ / time travel twist to my romances and while this one culminated in the all important lesson learned, it did get a bit repetitive. Still, the two MCs are cute together and Annie’s journey, not to mention the friends and connections she learned to make through it, were exactly what I love to see in my Christmas romances. Very sweet and very Christmas magical realism-y, pick this up if that’s your jam too.
This cozy, heartwarming Christmas romance has a unique twist—time travel! I enjoyed following Annie Jones, a hardworking window designer for the iconic Lawson’s Finest in New York City. Her journey begins when her Christmas Eve display gets ruined by some kids, and an all-too-realistic Santa gives her a strange tip on how to fix it. With the help of friendly security guard Braden Tate, she manages to put things right… until she wakes up to find it’s Christmas Eve again.
Annie’s time loop adventure leads to some touching moments as she gets to know her neighbors better and explores new ways to connect with Braden. I loved watching her grow and the “found family” she creates along the way. It made the story feel so wholesome. Braden is a wonderful love interest—kind, patient, and always there to lend a hand. The way their relationship develops, little by little, felt genuine.
But, as much as I liked Annie and Braden, I found the endless Christmas Eve repetitions a bit too much. It felt like the story dragged at points and got a little predictable. Still, it's a solid, feel-good holiday read if you’re in the mood for a cute, festive romance!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Annie, a store front/window designer keeps reliving Christmas Eve until she can get the perfect design, all while she slowly falls for the store security Braden.
The amount of Christmas Eve do overs (12) I feel ends up dragging on for to long, and things get a little repetitive. And the chemistry was just right with Annie and Braden. While I have enjoyed Ginny others books in the past, this fell flat for me.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Christmas Eve Love Story by Ginny Baird is a charming holiday romance that perfectly captures the magic of the season. With endearing characters and a sweet, heartfelt plot, it’s the perfect cozy read for this time of year. Baird’s engaging writing and festive spirit make it a delightful addition to any holiday reading list!
Super easy holiday read! I’m not a fan of groundhog day type books or movies because of the repetitive nature but I found it super easy to connect with Annie and her loving, caring nature. I enjoyed that even though it was a christmas book, Baird didn’t shy away from sensitive topics like veterans and grief, which is very important to include in holiday stories as it’s a harsh reality!
Overall a cosy and easy read!

“…visions of their tomorrows flitted around them like tiny snowflakes in a snow globe, swirling and twirling through the air, and putting the challenges of the past behind them. Soon, nothing was left but the present - and a very bright future.” ❄️🎄❤️
This was a very enjoyable holiday read with an amazing holiday atmosphere, wonderful MCs, and fantastic secondary characters who really embody the meaning of found family.
Annie is a window designer for a department store in New York City who is feeling lonely and stuck. Suddenly, she finds herself repeating Christmas Eve over and over again. As she discovers that she is stuck in a time loop, she strives to make each Christmas Eve better than the last with handsome security guard, Braden.
As she is in the time loop, Annie discovers the true meaning of Christmas. She bonds with her neighbors, embraces the present, and sees herself coming out of the slump that she was in. Annie and Braden are such a cute couple and following along on their journey was so much fun!
This is such a good story. Annie is living Ground Hog Day on Christmas Eve. Her day starts out horrible and goes downhill from there. The promotion she thought she would get, didn't happen. In fact, she could be laid off because business hasn't been great. The owner of the store thinks her window lacks something. When two boys destroy the window decorations, she spent hours putting together, she is sure it is all over for her. A cute security guard came to her rescue. After cleaning everything up, he asks her out for coffee, but she declines. The next morning, she wakes up and it's the same thing all over again. What is going on? Each day she repeats Christmas Eve, she makes some kind of improvement. Suddenly Braden starts remembering some of their time together. How is she going to get them out of this time loop? When Santa tells her that she has to find the answer in her heart, she isn't sure they will ever get out of it. Will Braden remember her when she discovers the answer? She has to let Braden go to get on with his life, but will he remember her?
A time loop of the 12 days of Christmas! Annie, a window designer, was having a bad day. Then she got a chance for a do over. Luckily, Braden the security guard is there to help her as she makes small changes each time she wakes up. Fans of this genre know that it can get tiresome after while and that's the case here as well but it's also got a big heart. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A light read that will make you smile.
I loved Ginny’s last Christmas book, so I knew I had to read whatever she put out next. This one didn’t disappoint.
Annie is a lonely window front designer and it seems things are falling apart come Christmas Eve. Luckily, she restarts the day. And again. And again.
In the midst of everything, she connects with security guard Braden and he helps her figure out how to move past Christmas Eve. It was a very cute story.
Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.
