This Girl’s a Killer comes with a trigger warning about the details you can expect reading about a serial killer. Honestly I got hardcore Dexter vibes from this book and I wasn’t mad at it in the slightest! It had me in a tight grip racing through it.

Cordelia has the perfect life, she’s a pharmaceutical sales rep and a serial killer by night…but she meticulous and only goes after bad men, so she follows a sort of code… see what I mean by Dexter vibes? Cor will do anything to protect her tribe, aka her best friend and her Godchild. Will she continue to get away with her twisted vigilante lifestyle?

Wow wow wow I loved this book. I cannot recommend it enough. Not only was it well written, but the main character and her internal dialogue? Absolutely incredible.

This Girl is a Killer is the sordid story of a woman named Cordelia Black, a skilled sales rep working for a popular pharmaceuticals company. But she is also a killer. She seeks out men she deems to be monsters posing under their nice-guy personas. Well they are monsters and she’s made it her mission to disappear them off the face of the earth.
Everything is humming along nicely until the medicine that she’s been selling is pulled off the market because of some bad side effects. It happens, but the problem here is, that it’s the medicine she uses to make her victims unconscious in order to bring them back to her ‘workshop.
Cordlelia’s long time best friend Diane, is dating a guy, Simon, that sets off Cordelia’s alarm bells even though he seems really normal. He actually is one of those monsters and ends up on the wrong end of Cordelia’s knife. Now she has a dead body in her refrigerator, cut up into many parts, and she needs to dispose of it and soon. After all how long can one stare at a severed head staring out at her from the lettuce drawer, while getting a snack from the same ice chamber?

Cordelia’s inner demons and her fear of being found out for who she really is will keep the reader anxiously reading. Do you want her discovered or do you want her to keep on ridding society of pedofiles and abusers?
Cordelia has gotten away with ridding humanity of a few predators, but how long can she evade the law.

Overall, this is an entertaining read with dark tones, some graphic situations, lots of suspense, and tense moments. The tension is broken with dark humor and a cute dog named Mango.

I don’t think the author is done with Cordelia, and expect to meet her again.

ARC review • Simply put, from the introduction and warning, you gather female Dexter vibes.

Cordelia Black is a pharmaceutical rep by day and ridding the world of bad guys by night. She will do anything to keep her best friend, Diane, and goddaughter, Sugar, safe from the creeps of the world.
Sugar is a firecracker, a spunky preteen. So I was sad when I finished and felt like she didn’t make much of an appearance after about halfway through the book. The last 1/3ish kept me on the edge of my seat, needing to know what was going to happen next.

I really enjoyed this! I loved the concept of a female Dexter type character, and add in some feminine rage - so I immediately was hooked!
I found this to be a quick and easy read, but that being said, there was still so many twists and turns I didn't see coming. I had a great time with it and would recommend to thriller lovers

This was an interesting thriller. My favourite genre at the moment, especially when the main character is a female. The FMC is a pharmacy rep by day, killer of men by night and she's totally badass. There are talks of a serial killer in the area but no one has been able to figure out who is behind the killings. The fmc feels alot of emotions and loves those close to her deeply which I loved. I loved that she ends up dating a cop... plot twist! I loved that even though the themes in the book are dark, it was still relatively light with alot of humour. Given this, it didn't feel like a typical thriller, it could have had more suspense. I found it slow in some areas but overall a good read. Thanks again for the ARC

Cordelia is a female Dexter. She unalives men who are monsters. I found her character to be quite interesting. The way her brains ticks and sees "smoke" in her targets eyes was fascinating. This book was very easy to read. I found the twists and turns to be great. A fantastic read!

3.5 - great while reading it but not very memorable

This was fun because it was the complete opposite of other thrillers--I was super stressed while reading, not because Cordelia was in danger, but because of her questionable actions toward others.

Cordelia Black is a confident, charismatic pharmaceutical sales rep who has a pretty dark hobby: putting a stop to people who did heinous things but were let free by the justice system (or were just plain sketchy). She is fiercely loyal to her best friend Diane and her daughter Samantha. At the start of the book, Cordelia is just as put together in her murders as she is in her wardrobe, but Diane's new boyfriend throws her off so much that she could be found out as a serial killer at any time.

I thought this book was super thrilling and stressful in a fun way. It's exactly as I expected from the blurb--a confident woman and her revenge on terrible men. The novel was very fast-paced and I was able to finish it in one sitting. Objectively, Cordelia isn't the best friend for Diane and maybe shouldn't murder people the way she does, but it was interesting to read her POV and get her justification for her behavior. I think this would make for a fun fall/halloween thriller.

The author gives some vague trigger warnings at the start of her book, so follow that for specifics. All I'll say is be prepared for some pretty graphic violence on Cordelia's part toward men who probably deserve it.

Thank you Netgalley for the arc of this book. When I read the synopsis I was instantly intrigued, and couldn't wait to dive in. Some of the repetitiveness of sayings really irked me and I wasn't sure if I could continue reading. I pushed through, and the ending was my favourite, and I'm glad Diane and Cordelia were able to maintain their friendship through everything.

4.25 stars. Think female Dexter - a woman who kills monsters and has her own code. I enjoyed this! I'm not sure the side plot with her pharmaceutical drama was necessary, but I liked how much our main character was protective of her found family. I'm not sure if there are more books intended with these characters, but I could definitely see it being a series and would read more.

This book was so much fun! I love a good female serial killer, especially when it comes with a side of feminine rage. I really enjoyed Cordelia’s perspective. She’s taking the bad out in the world and looking good doing it. What I really enjoyed about Cordelia, is that she still had emotions and cared about those who were important to her in her life. I think that this book will be popular with thriller readers who enjoy a little bit of revenge!

This was an interesting concept for a book, and I was intrigued from the first time that I heard the synopsis.

However, once I got into it I was less and less interested. I felt that the book could have used more and wished that it stood out a bit more.

Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for my early arc copy of this!

I really enjoyed this book. I know some people might look at me a little askance upon hearing that once they read the synopsis, but I'm just a sucker for a good vigilante serial killer (loved most of Dexter, until it went off the rails in the later seasons).
This book has a bit of a Dexter feel but better, in my opinion, because Cordelia seemed much more in control and not as ruled by dark urges as Dexter often was. She also has a very strict code regarding her "victims": they must be monsters themselves. She has a calling after all; she only kills bad men, the worst of the worst, those who hurt people and escape justice. But they don't escape Cordelia. Everything in her life seems to be perfect, from her chosen family to her job, but then cracks start to appear, and for someone who's always so in control, having things suddenly out of her control is not ideal. The thing that seems to put her the most out of control is the appearance of Simon, her best friend's new boyfriend, who gives Cordelia all kinds of bad vibes, just not the kind that would have her bringing him out to her special workshop. So Cordelia resolves to help Diane see that Simon is no good for her and get rid of him the usual way. But soon circumstances spin more and more out of her control and Cordelia has to reckon with some demons from her past to help her regain control of her life before all of her deep dark secrets are brought to light.
I wouldn't necessarily call this book a thriller, though there are some thrilling moments throughout the story. I think it's much more introspective and focused on the human drama of Cordelia trying to keep her secrets and her family safe. And there are several moments that trend to the lighter side (Mango's yodeling for one). I don't know what exactly I would classify this as genre-wise, but either way, I liked it and I'd love more stuff like it. Bring me all the lady vigilantes taking out bad men books please!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me early access to this book in exchange for an early review. I really enjoyed it.

Page turning debut from Emma C. Wells pharma rep by day and vigilante serial killer after hours (think female Dexter). This one had me hooked from the first chapter and honestly couldn't put it down once it got going. While the main character wasn't exactly likeable I did find myself rooting for her to get out of every sticky situation she found herself in. While there were a few loose ends that weren't tied up that I wish had been but they will leave room for a sequel that I would for sure read. All in all a fun ride and worth the read giving it 4 stars. I want to thank NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #PoisonedPenPress for the book #ThisGirlsAKiller by #EmmaCWells. What a fun, dramatic murder filled book! Cordelia is a serial killer among bad men. She calls it karma. Now her best friend, Diane is dating a man that doesn’t sit well with Cordelia. Now she feels like everything could go wrong.

This one was not bad, but there were alot of plot holes about the character I just did not understand. For example, she obsessed over how meticulous she was but yet made error after error. The premise of the story is promising, but the execution and character development lacked for me in this one.

Cordelia Black spends her days as a pharma rep and at night she dispenses justice to evil men. I liked the premise of the book and was expecting a fun ride. While there were some moments of humor and action, this book ultimately fell short for me. Cordelia is supposed to be meticulous and in control, but there were a lot of things that didn't make sense to me over the course of the book. For instance, she uses the blood of the men she has killed to create art which creates a tangible link between her and her targets--the height of hubris. Perhaps if the reader were given a better glimpse into her past, one would understand/empathize with her a bit more. As it is, I feel as if the only thing that Cordelia cares about is Diane and Sugar and making sure bad men get what they deserve. If the author had fleshed out Cordelia's character, this would have been a stronger book.

I recently finished reading "This Girl's a Killer" by Emma C Wells, and I have mixed feelings about it. While I found the plot intriguing and the protagonist, Cordelia Black, to be a refreshingly complex character, there were some elements that fell short for me.
First off, the premise is captivating. Cordelia, a young woman with a dark past, finds herself in a bit of a pickle in both her pharma rep job and her extra curricular activities. The author does a commendable job of weaving suspense throughout the story, keeping me on the edge of my seat at times. Cordelia’s internal struggles and her journey trying to figure out how to solve her problems are well portrayed and slightly chaotic, making her a relatable and multi-dimensional character.
However, I felt that some of the supporting characters lacked depth. They often seemed to exist only to propel Cordelia’s story forward, rather than having their own fully fleshed-out arcs. This made certain interactions feel a bit flat and predictable.
Additionally, while the writing style is generally engaging, there were moments where the pacing felt uneven. Some chapters were packed with action and excitement, while others dragged on without much happening. This inconsistency made it a bit challenging to stay fully invested in the narrative.
Overall, "This Girl's a Killer" is a decent read with a strong central character and an interesting plot. It has its flaws, but if you're a fan of dark thrillers with a touch of introspection, it might just be worth your time. I'd give it a solid three stars.

Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Emma C. Wells for the arc!

This. Was. WILD! Nothing makes you question everything you know to be good & true, than rooting for a baddie to get away with all the things! YIKES! I’m so there with this one!

And I’m completely exhausted (in a good, edge of my seat sorta way!) I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say the tension, suspense and forget-to-breathe moments are a plenty!! After, reading the synopsis, it probably seems a little wrong to say I had so much fun with this book, but here we are!

100% Bingeable and Addictive!!

Title: This Girl’s A Killer
Author: Emma C. Wells (Debut Author)
Genre: Mystery Thriller, Women’s Fiction
Publisher: Poison Pen Press
Pub Date: October 29, 2024
My Rating: 4.6 Rounded up
Pages: 400

"Once upon a time, ~I was a broken girl, unable to protect myself from scary things.
Now, ~ I am the scary thing."

Cordelia Black is a pharmaceutical representative and loves three things:
1. Her chosen family - best friend Diane and Samantha aka ‘Sugar’ Diane’s daughter.
2. Her hairdresser - as she loves to look her best - hair, nails as well as designer clothes.
3. Her love of Friday night hunts when she removes horrible men- men who hurt women, children as well others - including men.

Cordelia will do anything and everything to protect her chosen family as well as those who need protected.

When Cordelia’s best friend Diane starts to date coworker Simon, things get complicated.
Hmm does that mean what I think it means?

The author’s trigger warnings at the beginning of this book regarding Cordelia’s murders had me concerned that perhaps this was not going to work for me.
Okay it did take a couple chapters and then I COULD NOT put it down.
When Cordelia murders a bad guy in her home and has to get rid of his body; the situation is actually humorous. One crazy thing leads to another and that leads to another and so on.
In the meantime I am cheering her on.
I never thought I would describe this story as a fun read.

The last part was a bit OTT – However, Ms. Wells’ great prose had me hanging onto every word. I applaud her on her debut novel and excited and ready for her next one!

Want to thank NetGalley and Poison Pen Press for this great early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for October 29, 2024.
