4.5⭐️ - I was thoroughly engrossed while reading this story and absolutely enjoyed the ride! The imagery was fantastic, and I look forward to checking out more from this author.

A sharp, thrilling dive into the mind of a vigilante with a flair for justice and a killer sense of style. Cordelia Black is equal parts terrifying and captivating—an antiheroine who unapologetically takes out the trash while maintaining a flawless image as a pharma rep by day.
The story is fast-paced and deliciously dark, with a razor-sharp wit that makes Cordelia's internal monologue as compelling as her late-night "karma" missions. The tension ramps up when her seemingly perfect system begins to unravel, especially as her best friend's new boyfriend becomes a potential threat to her carefully curated world.
Wells does a fantastic job of exploring moral gray areas, making you question whether to root for or fear Cordelia. Her chosen family adds depth and heart, grounding the story in relationships that feel real and raw.
If you’re into morally complex protagonists, dark humor, and suspense with a side of sass, this one’s a must-read. Cordelia Black is a character you won’t forget anytime soon.

I really enjoyed this book! I would recommend it to friends. A quick/fun read that had me rooting for the main character as a vigilante.

I was enjoying this book the first half but felt like the second half started to drag. Overall, I liked the book but felt like it could’ve been shorter.

Emma C. Wells' This Girl’s a Killer is a gripping and intense thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The main character Lucy is fierce and resourceful but finds herself caught in a dangerous web of deception. Wells skillfully crafts Lucy's character with layers of complexity, making her both relatable and intriguing as she navigates her journey. The book is fast-paced and filled with unexpected twists that keep the reader on the edge of their seat.
However, some might find certain plot developments a bit predictable, and the development of secondary characters could be more in-depth to add more dimension to the story. Despite these minor drawbacks, This Girl’s a Killer remains an entertaining read. Recommended for young adult libraries!

This reminded me a lot of watching Dexter. Had the same kind of premise, killing the bad guys but just a fema character doing it instead. I feel like this book could have definitely been a bit shorter and it would’ve been better. It was too long and I feel like a lot of it was getting repetitive throughout. But overall I did enjoy the read

She’s Dexter in Louboutins. Cordelia kills monsters. She’s got a good setup with samples from her job as a pharmaceutical rep and a skeevy business man to take the bodies off her hands. Everything is going well. That is, until she spontaneously kills her best friend’s creepy boyfriend. Without a careful plan, her whole scheme starts falling apart.
3.5 stars. I enjoyed this one! It wasn’t super dark, which I sometimes like from a thriller. A lot of pop culture references take me out of a story a bit, but I still liked this one. I also liked how she wrote the character of Joanie. It was written in a way that made me think Joanie was a younger sister or something, before the reveal that she actually was Cordelia.
**ARC review. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read it early.

This was a really entertaining book to read. It was suspenseful and featured a heroine who I was rooting for and against. Mostly for though. The plot moved along quickly and kept me wondering exactly where it was going. I liked the found family theme and appreciated that there wasn't a lot of focus on the victims' crimes. The ending tied things up nicely, but I could easily see this becoming a series. It was fun enough that I'd definitely check out another one.
I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.

Dexter for a girls’ girl. The MC also has some social skills. So, I loved the friendship and the justice in this one!

Cordelia seemingly has a normal life. Except she kills bad men in her free time. However, she might be about to get caught as the news starts talking about a serial killer.
I thought the premise was interesting, but Cordelia was just an ok protagonist for me. I get the vibe the author was going for, but it just didn't resonate with me. I think Cordelia was just too chaotic despite supposedly being very controlled and meticulous from her description.

I loved the concept of this book, but I feel Iike overall there was too much going on and it was too long.
This book had so many story threads, I felt like some threads were abandoned midway through and then were quickly wrapped up when the author realized they were still out there.
I also had very mixed feelings about the characters. Most of the time, I couldn’t stand the main character Cordelia, but there were definitely some times I was cheering her on. And the supporting characters dropped in and out of the story so much that I didn’t really get attached to anyone except Mango who was great.
Overall, this book was fine, I felt like this was too long and repetitive, but the ending got a little exciting and the female rage was definitely raging.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No spoilers. Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Maybe even a book club pick.

I wasnt able to read and review this one before the publish date but now that I have I gave it 3.5 stars.

Would recommend for fans of…
🔪 Dexter
🔪 Promising Young Woman
🔪 Finlay Donovan
Mysteries and thrillers – the darker the better – will always be my favorite genre. Nothing beats curling up with one after a long day only to realize you’ve spent all night reading because you had to figure out how it ends. And that was my exact experience with This Girl’s A Killer.
To be clear, I absolutely loved this book! It’s the perfect thriller.
Early on, Cordelia Black tells the reader exactly who she is, which you’d think would remove a little bit of mystery from the story, but instead turns up the tension to 1000. No spoilers, but Emma C. Wells does an amazing job with the pacing, and is able to create even more twists when I didn’t think it was possible to do so. And as twisty and dark as the story gets, it’s never gratuitous, and I’d feel comfortable recommending this to my friends whose mystery preference is on the cozier side.
It’s really frustrating writing this review, because I just want to scream about how amazing this book is, but also don’t want to spoil anything as this is absolutely a book you want to read with as little background as possible. That being said, I will say that I loved the emphasis Wells put on friendship and found family, and how those values are so core to who Cordelia is. I’m not sure if there are more Cordelia books in the future, but based on the ending I hope there are, as Cordelia is a character I’d spend an infinite number of hours reading about.
This Girl’s A Killer is out now. Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Whether you think she’s a serial killer or a justified vigilante, Cordelia Black sure is a lot of fun!
Emma C. Wells delivers a fast paced and humorous romp into the life of a pharmaceutical rep by day and loveable vigilante killer by night. Think Dexter Morgan but in heels. Cordelia is the type of friend you want in your corner.
This is a great debut novel that I could absolutely see being optioned for film. In fact, I really hope it does.
Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press & NetGalley for the ARC.

Spectacular. She can do no wrong. It reminded me of Promising Young Woman in the BEST way possible. I was rooting for her the whole time and I loved it. Probably well suited for fans of Dexter as well. I’m a sucker for a good serial killer read and this type of morally grey fmc is my favourite. She is witty and sassy and oh so devious. Please read if you’re a fan of any of the above.

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read an early copy of this book. I greatly enjoyed reading This Girl's a Killer. I found the main character to be funny and the supporting characters very much relevant to the story. I will 100% be reading more from this author, and definitely wouldn't mind a follow up book to this story.

Want an amazing debut novel that you simply can’t put down? You’ve found it!
I was hooked right away.
