New author for me. . Plenty of twists in this one although the ending fell flat. I had hoped for a grand finale. The husband was easy not to like. Jen was not nearly cunning enough…..she could have really been a strong woman on a mission instead she spent most of her time waiting for the right time.
Quick read and I couldn’t put it down though! It was entertaining! Will try another by Ruth Heald.
I don’t know where to start with this one- from the very first sentence to the very last I was hooked.
Jen thought her marriage was perfect, three children, amazing home and a wonderful hard working husband- but what an absolute car crash her life actually was.
This book was full of surprises, twists, shocking revelations and heart ache. It shocked, angered, and upset me just in the first chapter and continued pretty much all the way till the end.
An absolute must read and I can’t believe this is my first Ruth Heald book- it’s most definitely not going to be my last 👏🏻
I thought I had the perfect marriage. But as our beautiful children sleep soundly in the next room, I stare at the messages between my husband Rob and another woman, their promises to run away together bringing tears to my eyes. My heart stops when I see the latest one: ‘Leave my wife to me. I’ll get rid of her.’
Jen and her husband Rob appear to have a picture perfect marriage. But looks can be so deceiving. She finds out that he is having an affair and its with someone she knows, someone that works closely with her husband,
Fast, quick read. Good psychological thriller!
My Husband's Affair is the story of Jen who is now a stay-at-home mom. Her husband Rob expects everything to be perfect if she is staying home. Meanwhile He is having an affair. Unknown to Jen until she starts to see the clues in front of her.
Rob believe3s himself to be a stud and a top realtor. But we see that he is cutting corners and people may be at risk. His world begins to fall apart, and he develops a plan to save himself.
This story is told in two timelines. It is not always clear who one of the voices belongs to. It was an interesting premise. but I thought the ending could have been better.
Shenanigans abound in this book.
A domestic thriller featuring a seemingly happy couple, (aren’t they always) with three kids. Jen is the perfect wife to Rob, taking care of the children, cleaning the house and cooking. She epitomises the phrase “ A woman’s work is never done”. Rob, well he works hard and essentially feels that is all he needs to do. Only Rob isn’t working all those late nights he says he is. Honestly this man made me see red. He was so manipulative and gaslit Jen whenever she questioned him.
Told in a dual pov timeline we have Jen’s present pov and Mia, the other woman, whose pov starts 8 months prior. The chapters flick between the two of them and it kept me hooked. I did figure out early on what might happen but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment. The story was more a study of what can happen in a marriage as opposed to being concerned with gotcha moments.
A compelling and suspenseful domestic thriller! I think this is a grate thriller to recommend to a lot of people. The pace is good, the characters are complex, and the writing is fast paced.
Solid 4.5 for me
I couldn’t put this down and finished in less than a day.
You would think that by now I would be tired of domestic thriller but I guess not. This could have been. 5 stars but the ending was a little rushed.
Great storyline
Thanks for this ARC I really enjoyed it.
Jen and Rob seem to have the perfect marriage. But he has been cheating and lying in both his personal and professional lives. What will Jen do to protect her family?
My Husband's Affair is a psychological thriller about secrets being revealed.
People think Jen has a charmed life. A devoted husband, three beautiful children, a luxury penthouse apartment, no work as she is fully supported by her husband. Behind the scenes, Jen feels uneasy and trapped. Her past has made her vulnerable but also given her the determination to protect her children at any cost.
The early part of the book shows us Jen's life and contrasts this with chapters showing Rob's affair in the preceding months. This means we know he is a cheat before Jen does and raises the anticipation as we wait for her to find out. I thought I was so clever working out who Rob was having an affair with: I was wrong! Halfway through the book we know who he has been seeing and what dodgy dealings he has been involved with.
Secrets and lies unravel and the characters adapt to their new circumstances. I didn't find the characters' actions particularly credible but was fascinated by the plot twists. Plans begin to spiral out of control for Jen and Rob, and I was gripped as I couldn't wait to see how events would unfold.
My Husband's Affair was an entertaining and dramatic psychological thriller.
This book had me addicted from the start! It was so intense that I could not wait to see the twist. Authot knows how to deliver the breath taking, draw dropping twist that we all know and love and never expect the ending. I believe this book is her best one yet but I say that everytime I read one of her books. Thank you for allowing me to read your book in advance.
Loved the ending, always glad when justice is served. I was constantly trying to guess what the catch was and who was lying but man Rob was a piece of work. At first I hated Mia but grew to like her and I was pretty happy with her storyline and how things ended for her. I wish things had worked out for Natasha and Jen but overall I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend as your next read!
Jen and Rob are parents to baby Ruby, Jack and Lottie. Rob is the regional manager of a successful estate agents firm. They live in the penthouse of a luxurious complex.
Jen is a stay-at-home Mom and has her hands full taking care of her children and keeping their home immaculate. In addition, Rob expects her to have the children in bed and his dinner on the table when he arrives home from the office.
Rob has an assistant named Mia who works for him in the office. He has told her that he is divorced and the children live with their mother. Rob and Mia meet up frequently for clandestine dinners and hotel stays.
As things escalate, Jen realizes that Rob is cheating on her and she is determined to find out who it is. When I turns out to be one of her friends, she is angry but also realizes how taken in this young woman is by Rob. Jen learns that Rob not only lies to her but is in big trouble at his office. A comment he made to his girlfriend that he would take care of Jen seals his fate with her.
This is a pretty good book but I wished Jen had been more savvy to Rob’s actions instead of just accepting his lies. But I guess if she was, he wouldn’t have gotten away with things which makes this story. The ending is satisfying and I’m sure readers will enjoy this book.

Loved this twisty thriller from Ruth Heald, an author who knows how to use 'smoke and mirrors' to maximum effect!
The plot is based around Jen and Rob, childhood sweethearts, who on the surface are 'living the dream', with their 3 beautiful children in a penthouse apartment. Jen's bubble is well and truly burst as this novel progresses however.... Jen discovers Rob is having an affair, and that is only scratching the surface as regards the secrets he keeps from her....
This is a GREAT novel that takes us from the UK to the Med and back again! Do all the main characters make it back safe and well? I couldn't possibly say! What I will say however, is that I was utterly gripped from beginning to end! Highly recommended to fellow fans of this genre.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for an advance copy of this novel exchange for an advance copy.
I couldn't put this down! Lots of good characters and a story that makes you want to keep reading. The end did feel a little different to the rest of the story and I feel could have maybe been better but still really enjoyed it!
Jen gave up her career to be a wife and mother, only to be subjected to lies, betrayal, and manipulation from her husband, Rob, A great slow burn. There is buildup and character development throughout the first half of the book. There are twists and turns as well, while we watch the plot develop. The pace slows down in the middle, but then you’re hit with a big twist. From there, the book picks up and starts speeding towards the end! The second half of the book had me in a complete chokehold. Everyone was trying to one up each other, and I had no clue what was going to happen. I also had no clue who was going to come out on top in the end. I had my suspicions, but they weren’t right. My first read by this author, but it won’t be my last.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love this book! The writing style is fastpaced & engaging from the start. What would you do if you found out your marriage was a lie, your husband was having an affair & trying to kill you?
Just when I thought I figured out the plot twist with the unraveling turns, I quickly found out Ruth Heald had other plans! This book is an unputdownable psychological thriller!
Thank you, Ruth Heald, bookouture & netgalley for my copy.
All opinions are my own.
I’ve gotten away from reading a ton of thrillers and I’ve missed what they have to offer. Can I describe this one as both slightly predictable yet twisty? Cuz it is. Definitely there is domestic suspense. Throw in some I don’t know who is a reliable narrator. Add in some secrets and lies. And those lies and unreliability fill the entire book. Up until the very end, I was wondering what was really happening and who was telling the truth.
The twists aren’t drop the mic twists, but slight shifts in direction that change my thoughts on the book and the characters. I love when the author lets the reader fill in the gap and then changes the facts. Don’t read this one if you are looking for warm and inviting characters. This is more of the I’m not sure if I like any of them then what did they just do? Let me warn you there was a scene early on with a child that made my heart stop.
I’d go into this one cold so you can experience this addictive read and experience those twists! And let me know when you get finished if you have any concerns if you know the people surrounding you. I read this in one sitting and am wondering why anyone would get married.
I loved this thriller of a book about a woman living the perfect wife but can she trust her husband and when the truth comes out it leads to a nail bitting conclusion that is really satisfying. Loved it.
I do love a good Ruth Heald thriller, so much so that I've read almost every one of her releases to date.
If you're looking for a gritty thriller that will have you turning the pages late into the night, then look no further...
My Husband's Affair is a brilliantly twisty thriller, the ultimate in revenge and marital drama. It's fast paced, compelling and high in the suspense stakes.
There's great character development throughout, the plot is immense and absolutely addictive reading.
I'm happy to recommend both book and author.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I do enjoyed this book and just devoured it. I really could not put it down. So many twists and surprises and just a great read.
This was a pretty good book. It definitely left me wondering who the other woman was! I would recommend to anyone interested in suspense.
