My Husband’s Affair
Genre: Thriller
Rating: 4/5
Summary: A wife believes she has her dream life. A perfect marriage, home, and children. There is nothing else she could ask for until she discovers her husband cheating. Her two best friends are right by her side helping her plan her next move and they will make her husband pay for what he did.
What I liked: I love reading a good story about revenge and this is it! There was also a nice little surprise twist with the characters and who they turn out to be.
I love this way of narration that keep you sleepless ! I read the book for one day ! The gripping domestic thriller we all need for spring evenings !
In her author’s note at the end of the book, Heald said she enjoyed placing her characters in absolutely crazy situations.
I can attest to the craziness in the book.
The author rips some story lines to shred and I didn’t know what was going to happen next.
I figured out fairly early parts of the plot and how that tied the loose ends up.
Rob is a despicable cur and deserved everything he got.
I wouldn’t have had any empathy for Amy like Jen did, absolutely none,
I cheered for Jen throughout the entire book, I waited for her to act and boy did she.
This is another unputdownable read by Ruth Heald . Every book I’ve read by this author I’ve absolutely loved and this one is no exception . A fast paced and tense psychological thriller that had me gasping out loud in parts . I enjoyed the story from the various characters POV’s and some characters I liked more than others, one of them I thought was utterly despicable . There was a couple of great twists throughout the book that I certainly never saw coming .
Jen is happily married to Rob with three beautiful children and living in a luxury penthouse apartment in London, nothing can destroy what they have, can it? Then she sees some messages between Rob and another woman, planning for him to leave Jen and his family behind and her world falls apart, especially when she realises who the other woman is, but what exactly is Rob planning and, as he doesn't realise she already knows everything, he needs to be very careful as she's one step ahead of him and has plans of her own...
My Husband's Affair is the latest domestic thriller by this author, a story that depicts, on the surface, the perfect life between this couple and their family who appear to have everything they want, but scratch that surface and all the secrets come spilling out. This is a tale of lies and deception, with authentic characters that you will either love or hate and I know whose side I was firmly on throughout this intense read. I've read a couple of Heald's books now and you can always rely on her to bring you an intriguing read full of twists and turns and this one was no exception, I was hooked from start to finish. Another great story which I highly recommend!
I'd like to thank Bookouture and Netgalley for the auto approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of My Husband's Affair by Ruth Heald. This was a fascinating read. I enjoyed it a lot and it held my interest. It was a quick easy read with many twists along the way. It kept you guessing all the way to the end. The reason it lost a star for me was that many parts of the story were reiterated and that got monotonous for me. I have never read a book by this author before, but I definitely will now. I would recommend this book to those who like domestic thrillers. A 4 star rating for me.
WOWZA!!! Talk about getting whiplash while reading! My Husband's Affair is a gripping, twist filled, shocking book that had me turning the pages at warp speed wanting to know what was going to happen and be revealed next! Ruth Heald delivered a jaw dropping page turner that delighted, shocked, and kept me on my toes!
Jen and Rob are married with three young children. Her world is turned upside down when she reads the messages on her husband's secret phone. He and another woman are planning to run away together. She knows he has been working late a lot lately, having to go out of town to woo new clients, but that was all for work, wasn't it?
Her friends are there for her. Give her a shoulder to cry on while encouraging her to leave....
Woohoo! This book kept me on my toes. I felt for Jen and booed and hissed at her husband, Rob. I thought I knew everything that was happening in this book, but Ruth Heald kept turning the tables and leaving me and her characters reeling.
This book was a lot of fun to read. I loved the drama, the mystery, the secrets, the lies, the betrayal, the twists, turns, and revelations. Whew! What a ride! But that is what I have come to expect from Heald. I have enjoyed now enjoyed 6 of her books. As with the previous books that I have read by Heald, My Husband's Affair was wonderfully written, captivating, gripping and addictive!
4.5 stars

My Husband's Affair by Ruth Heald is a well plotted psychological thriller that will keep you turning pages
A real page turner that really grabbed me tight and didn't let go.
The suspense kept building throughout the novel leading to an exciting reveal at the end. It was fast-paced, twisty, and entertaining.
Well thought out, with clever writing and it has great characters.
Ruth Heald, she never disappoints me she delivered another addictive and heart-pounding psychological thriller.
Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the book #MyHusbandsAffair by #RuthHeald. This is the ultimate revenge book about a husbands affair. All Jen wanted was a loving husband and their three children to be happy. But she soon realizes that her husband is not on board with that and is having an affair and to get rid of her. But who is getting rid of who on the end?
This story focuses on Jen and her husband Rob. Jen thought she had a good marriage, but then Jen starts to feel insecure when Rob comes home from work one night smelling of perfume.
The story started out a little slow at the beginning but as the characters developed and the plot thickened I found myself hooked and could not put the book down. Even though I thought the ending was a little predictable, throughout the book they were twist and turns that had me surprised. I really enjoyed reading this fast paced thriller. This is the first time reading from this author and will definitely be reading more of her books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC of My Husbands Affair in exchange for my honest review.
This was the first book for me from this author, but will not be the last!
Well thought out storyline, believable characters and plot. It had a few twists and was pretty fast paced. It is easy to follow and hard to put down.
Thank you for allowing me to read and review!
I really enjoyed the first half of this book. It was fast paced, full of red herrings and twists and turns. The second half I did not enjoy as much, It went in a weird direction I felt. I was questioning some choices the characters made and it just felt a little disconnected from the first half of the book.
I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately, I had to DNF at the halfway mark. I found the pacing quite slow, which made it challenging for me to stay engaged. Additionally, I struggled to connect with the characters. Some aspects of the plot also seemed a bit too far-fetched for my taste, distracting me from the story's intended impact. This is purely my personal experience, and others might find what didn't work for me to be the highlights of their reading journey.
Thank you so much to the publishers and NetGalley for the copy.
This book presents an intriguing premise of marital infidelity and revenge, the execution feels predictable and lacks depth. The characters lack complexity, and the plot twists are telegraphed rather than genuinely surprising. Despite some moments of tension, the narrative ultimately fails to deliver the gripping psychological thriller it promises.
Insanely good! Jen has given up her career to devote herself to her husband, Rob and their children, losing her identity and feeling very under appreciated by Rob, who is self absorbed and egotistical. When Jen discovers that Rob is having an affair, she decides enough is enough and sets out to get revenge.
The characters were so well written - Rob was a slime ball and so I was really rooting for Jen. Her friends Natasha and Amy were integral to the story and really supportive of Jen, and we also get the POV of Rob's latest squeeze, his young colleague, Mia.
The book starts with scene setting and character development and then the pace slightly slowed for a short spell, so when the first big twist hit, I was absolutely not ready and it completely floored me! Just... WOW! From that point on, the manipulation came from all sides, everyone thinking they had the upper hand and having no idea that someone else was half a step ahead. Twist after twist blew my mind over and over again. The plot is superb and the ending is fantastic. I loved this book and can't wait for more from Ruth Heald.
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Ruth Heald and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
This book was such a page turner!! I couldnt put it down. This was one of the best reads ive read this year, love the book, plot, and the mc so much.
thank u netgalley for the arc !!
3 out of 5 stars!
When I look at the messages between Rob and his mistress, I am heartbroken. I thought I had the perfect marriage. We have 3 kids together, we live in a luxurious apartment, and we love each other. I never got upset when he said he had to work late. But now, I am questioning what he was doing all of those nights. The message says, “Leave my wife to me. I’ll deal with her.” Does he think he can just get rid of me? He may have a plan, but he doesn’t know I will have a plan too. I will stop at nothing to protect my life and my children.
“My Husband’s Affair” by Ruth Heald is a twisty, psychological novel about a race to kill. On the outside, it looks to be another domestic thriller about an affair. But wow, was it more than that. This book was entertaining and kept me on my toes the entire time. This was a fast read, I actually finished it in one sitting because I had to know what happened.
This book was fast, but also felt short to me. I felt like the author could have added some extra length especially to the ending. Don’t get me wrong, there were some massive twists that jerked you in a different direction, but I was waiting for the final twist at the end that never came. The ending did finish on a high note, which is something I love in mysteries.
I had a love and hate relationship with the characters. I felt at times they were clueless, but I loved the depth of the characters and their remarks. They did stand out, which is always a positive thing for me.

We promised forever...but only one of us will leave this marriage alive...
I've read all of Ruth Heald's books and she is one of my favourite authors...although I have to admit that this is not one of my favourite books of hers, it is still a thrilling read that keeps you guessing throughout. This one is about a wife's reaction to discovering her husband's affair...and the lengths she will go to save herself.
Jen lives a charmed life. Married to Rob, a high end estate agent in West London, with three children - Lottie, Jack and baby Ruby. And together they live in the penthouse suite of an exclusive apartment block for which Rob had the contract to sell from the developer. Although she would love to return to work, her life is filled with the children and making their house a home.
It all starts little by little. Discrepancies with their apartment that should have been safe but turns out are not. And then she smells an unfamiliar perfume on Rob's shirt...but writes it off as having been in contact with a client shrouded in the stuff. That has to be it.
But the late nights. The trips away. It's just client drinks and business, right? And then she discovers a burner phone, a passport, thousands in euros...and the messages. Rob is planning to leave them. But that's not the half of it. Rob has painted himself into a corner and thus delivers Jen an ultimatum completely out of left field. Think canoe man. But Jen has other ideas...
Another intriguing read by Ruth Heald that had me guessing throughout. The ending did let it down in the end as I'd expected something a little more jaw-dropping and unexpected. But it was still a thrilling read with a character you just love to hate!

I have read several of this author's books and enjoyed every one. This is a tale of a wife's reaction to finding out her husband is having an affair. But that's only half of it... she gradually uncovers a trail of deceit that threatens her home and her family and her close circle of friends. But what to do? Her answer is dramatic and she play an absolute blinder - the climax to the story had me holding my breath. No, she won't, will she? You'll have to read it to find out! Highly recommend.
