Thank you to Boldwood books and Laura Carter for the gift of a digital ARC of Fake It ‘Til You Make It in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I enjoyed the quirk essence of the storytelling of Fake It ‘Til You Make. There are fabulous and downright ridiculous moments of the plot – whacky and weird, but enjoyable. I felt parts were a little rushed and struggled with all the secrets and lies at the heart of the story. Everything felt pretend which is probably down to the ‘fake until you make’ mantra, but it hindered me getting to like the characters as Ted and Abbey came across false and didn’t want to have a healthy conversation to clear up their mess like sane people would. I thought all the characters could have been a big more fleshed out, false and less judgmental which made it hard to root for them as the romance gained speed.

A cute, cheesy rom-com with the Proposal movie vibes featuring a fake dating plot between complete strangers who are both trying to deal with the fall out of cheating exs. I felt the deception and misunderstandings were a little overdone and took some of the sparkle off the good points of the book.

Fake It 'til You Make It it's a fun cute book and i enjoyed it more than what i thought i would. It has a dual POV which made it a fun and crazy read, The over-the-top situations were a bit crazy sometimes but it worked quite well.

Super cute and motivating! I really liked this book. I actually did really laugh out loud. I am motivated to be my best self too, and perhaps have a capsule wardrobe too. Light hearted, funny and fun.

Didn't think I'd enjoy this one so much! The situations just felt so over-the-top and crazy, but somehow, it worked, and I couldn't stop reading and get enough of it. The chemistry was there without being forced, there's some very good humour (so happy the author didn't think she had to go over-the-top for the laughs), there was just enough secondary characters to make it varied yet at the same time not take away from the main protagonists. Also loved that it was dual POV which made it super-fun to read the hero's side as these types of romcoms are usually just the heroine's 1st Person POV.
It's fun, it's cute, it's light. It just went on too fast, and got resolved too fast, as well, but I won't hold that against it as it was a very good ride throughout. And surprisingly clean - wasn't expecting that, too, and it didn't deter from the romance!

This would have been cute if not for the way it was written. I didn’t like how juvenile the writing felt. Also the main character was kind of naive which unnerved me in a way I did not like.

I didn't vibe well with this book. The writing style didn't captivate me and I found myself aggravated with the characters from the start. Personally I didn't feel the heavy chemistry that a lot of people stated they felt with this book. I'm guessing this one just wasn't for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

first, I would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I have a hard time deciding whether I truly liked this book or not?? I'm stuck in a weird 50/50 cause it was kinda cute, but like I also did not like the main characters that the whole story revolves around. Abbey was just too judgmental for my liking...especially if she is suppose to be a 'girl's girl'.

i was really looking forward to this book, however i think i made a mistake asking for this arc. it is no fault to the author but i really do not like the miscommunication trope, which is the main premise of this book. i will not be finishing this book for that reason alone. i do think the writing was well done and had it not been a miscommunication trope i would have enjoyed this story. the fake dating aspect really appealed to me. i will give it a 3 stars for the writing and the characters.

*Fake It 'til You Make It* by Laura Carter is an enjoyable read that takes the beloved fake dating trope and gives it a quirky twist with two characters who are both hiding their true identities. Ted and Abbey, each reeling from recent breakups, enter into a mutually beneficial arrangement to keep up appearances, but the lines between what's real and what's fake quickly blur.

The chemistry between the leads is charming, and their interactions are filled with humor and a touch of awkwardness that makes them feel relatable. The slow-burn romance is executed well, with plenty of moments that will make readers smile. However, the plot relies heavily on miscommunication and deception, which might be frustrating for those who prefer characters to be more upfront and honest. The eventual resolution feels a bit rushed, and some loose ends, especially concerning Ted's business and Abbey's career, are left unresolved.

One of the book's strengths is its focus on the personal growth of both characters as they navigate their feelings and learn to be honest with each other and themselves. However, the use of British terminology for characters who are supposed to be American or Canadian is jarring and can pull readers out of the story. This, combined with a few plot inconsistencies, detracts from the overall experience.

Despite these flaws, *Fake It 'til You Make It* remains a cute, lighthearted read perfect for fans of contemporary romance looking for a fun escape. If you love slow-burn romances with a healthy dose of humor and don't mind a bit of miscommunication, this book is worth a try. Three out of five stars for its entertaining premise and endearing characters, but it could have benefited from tighter editing and more cultural consistency.

Fake It 'til You Make it was so cute and fun! I loved that both Ted and Abbey were keeping secrets, this kept things more balanced. It was easy to see their chemistry, even through the lies. If you are looking for a fun, light, and cute read this is it!

This was a quick read and if partial stars were an option, it would be a 3.25. It was cute and fun and, although mistaken identity is one of my least favorite tropes, it wasn't overdone. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone looking for a relaxing read.

This was a cute, fun, quick read. I loved the characters and the mistaken identity trope wasn't too over done. The siblings gave the book some depth and it was a great breezy, light book for spring.

This book is about Ted and Abbey both going through relationship breakdowns that the outside world don't known about. Each has a preconception about the other leading them to hide their true self. This leads to a mutual agreement to fake date but the chemistry between them leads to questions that must be answered. I really enjoyed this book very easy reading with laugh out loud momemts and a wedding vow to remember.
