I really enjoyed this story. It was dorky, light-hearted and had the most cringe able meet-cute I think I've read. Throw in some fake-dating, a grumpy/sunshine relationship and this book is honestly the perfect palette cleanser.
I did struggle at times with the misleading of who they were in this book. I understood they were both just leaning in to who the other <b>thought</b> they were, but at times it did just feel like lying and was quite uncomfortable.

Overall this was a sweet and romantic book that I read in a day and would recommend.

I really enjoyed reading this book! It was an easy, lighthearted, joyful read. The characters were both crazy but in a funny endearing way that makes you root for them from beginning to end. I will definitely recommend this book to friends!

This is the 4th book I've read by Laura Carter, and I think sadly my least favorite. I definitely had to convince myself to sit down and read instead of devouring it in one sitting and struggling to put the book down. There were some plot points I struggled with, such as how did Ted get into Canada (another country) with tickets that Abby's mom would have booked under Mike's name....and Ted wouldn't have had matching identification. There was one other moment that was also confusing to me in the same way as that.
I do love the genuine love and cuteness that Laura's books have. She makes the chemistry truly feel real between two characters and she really is great at stripping the characters down to their basic selves and not the person they put a front on for the world as.
I do enjoy her books, and I would read more, but this one wasn't my favorite, not to mention they reconciled after the 3rd act break-up within 1 chapter which just felt rushed and too soon. But happy endings, so I guess I can't complain too much.

So glad to have received an arc for this book, I've never read anything by Laura Carter but definitely will be looking forward to seeing her name on the cover from now on! What an adorably written story, I'm still over here blushing and kicking my feet over it. I highly recommend if you love the fake dating trope or need something to make you laugh out loud. The only two things I have to comment on are the fact that I wish we could've gotten to see Ted confront Fleur and Roman AND for a book marketing itself as fake dating, it only took up a small portion of the book.

Fake It ‘til You Make It’ was an easy read. But, unfortunately it lacked in the entertainment department.
Our main characters Abby and Ted who have both suffered from their partners cheating on them.
Abbey was a witty character and she did make me laugh at times.
Ted was the cinnamon roll hero..but was also misogynistic at times..
The characters feel like they are lacking depth.

The fake dating and pretending to be someone else causes all kinds misunderstandings and confusion.
Overall I found the romance to be lacking and quite boring..
It tried to be a slow burn romance with cute heartfelt moments but some of those moments were quite cringey in my opinion.

I found the ending to be quite rushed and I wasn't a fan of the third act break-up.

Just because this book was not it for me, that doesn't mean that someone else will not enjoy it..

This was a very cute and light fake dating romance. Abbey has lost both her boyfriend and her job and to make matters worse, her parents invited her ex to their vow renewal and he's bringing a date. There's no way that she's showing up alone and looking pathetic, so she convinces her very handsome next door neighbor, Ted, to be her fake date.
The romance was cute and I enjoyed seeing Abbey and Ted together. They had really nice chemistry and were a cute couple. This was a clean and sweet romance with a lot of heart and I had a great time reading it.

Abbey Mitchell has the perfect life until her boyfriend of 4 years confesses that he was cheating on her, and she loses her job as an auditor. Devastated, she splashes out her wedding fund on six months’ rent in the hotel in New York that she always dreamed of staying in. She bumps into her neighbour, Theodore Thomas, who has his own tech company and is also hiding from the world due to his fiancé Fleur cheating on him with his business partner and ex-best friend Roman.

Along the way, Ted pretends he’s his baseball player brother due to a misunderstanding, and Abbey pretends she is an actress. With Abbey’s parents’ vow renewal and the unfortunate fact that Andrew is going to be there, she comes up with the idea that she and Ted should pretend to date each other.


This was a very sweet story and was amusing and there were some hilarious moments and heartwarming moments. But at some times I felt like the pacing was off: I am a fan of the fake dating trope but it felt like there wasn’t actually enough of it.
But I think the author wrapped up everything so quickly at the end. But nonetheless I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Cute, easy read. Nothing sticks out for me with this story unfortunately. I would read more of this author

Laura Carter has really done a good job on Fake It Till You Make it, the character building, the story flow and the relationship between the main characters is all you can want within a cozy romantic book

The book focuses on Ted and Abbey, roommates who have just gone through breakups. They decide to fake date, as Abbey requires a date to take with her to her parent's vow renewal , and Ted wants to leave his ex, who cheated on him. The chemistry between Abbey and Ted was very strong and real. The book truly engaged me as a reader and I loved seeing the couple together.

I enjoyed this book. It was not the best romcom I've read nor the most memorable. There were some things i enjoyed, like the enemies to lovers and him falling first for her, but the miscommunication trope... i just don't see why too adult people can't talk things out. I didn't enjoy that part much.

Apart from that, it was a good romcom and i would easily recommend it to someone who likes the genre and is looking for a quick quirky, weird and cute romcom!!

I enjoyed reading this book mainly because I love the enemies-to-lovers and mistaken identity tropes, where he falls for her first. I typically don't enjoy the miscommunication trope, but I think it was used effectively in this book. Abbey is a lovable main character who embarks on a journey to rebuild her personal and professional life. I loved how she moved forward and showed strength after going through heartache. Ted is also a loveable character who goes through something life-changing that causes him to go into hiding. I found Ted's portrayal as a man grappling with his identity and undergoing a process of self-reflection to be quite compelling. It resonated with me because heartbreak often feels like losing a crucial piece of oneself. It's a journey of combining the pieces or discovering one's identity without that missing piece. Abbey and Ted's chemistry was so fun, and it felt realistic. I loved how Abbey and Ted's shared nerdiness blossomed into a romantic relationship.

I love a good fake dating trope, but this one missed the mark for me. I just didn't feel like the characters had enough originality to set them apart from every other fake dating romance out there. There were definitely some cute parts and fun moments, but nothing that I'll carry with me or keep thinking about later. An easy read - nothing too heavy. but not my favorite - I think some more character development or uniqueness to their personalities would have gone a long way for me.

Fake dating is my favorite trope and it truly carried this romance. The premise and execution were good but I found the characters to be unlikable. While it's necessary for characters to have flaws, any side character that was introduced was described in a negative light. Some rightfully so earned this, but even the siblings of the main characters didn't come across as particularly likable. It also really bothered me that Abbey refused to tell anyone that her boyfriend cheated on her, especially when she was being accused of cheating herself. Overall, this romance is a decent fake dating story but the characters needed work.

It might be a me-problem because I've read so many romcoms that I can't tell tjem apart anymore, so just because this one wasn't for me, doesn't mean it won't be for you. I think this one was well plotted and written. Ii was a lot of fun but not very original. I liked the characters, but they won't stick in my head forever.

3 stars! While there as some fun moments I didn't particularly like or fall in love with the characters. Without loving them it's hard to root for their story and relationship. Unfortunately, nothing about this book was particularly unique from any other fake-dating story. This made it hard to feel very drawn or immersed in the story. The start feels slow then it quickly picks up with a quick ending and confession. The characters had good chemistry, however I think the book would feel more cohesive if the pacing and character development had been worked on more.

Absolutely adored this book, the way the author captured your attention from the beginning of the book was almost magical.

This was an easy read. For those who love enemies to lovers and he falls first tropes, then this is a good one. I did enjoy the relationship between Abbey annd Ted and I loved the personal growth for the female male character. Any book where the main character rebuilds their life for the better is a book for me!

I did feel like the characterisation of Abbey in the first few chapters seemed a little disjointed from the rest of the book. I also didn’t really understand why she refused to tell her family what her ex boyfriend had done.

I thought the book really came into its element when they go to Canada. The tension and feelings between Abbey and Ted was written very well. The last half of the book was definitely my favourite.

I would recommend this book to other romance fans. Definitely an easy and enjoyable read.
