Fake dating… what more can I ask for! I really enjoyed this book for its fun, fast paced energy and all the chaos that came along. Abbey has recently moved into a new building after an awful blindsided breakup and she runs into Ted, who she ends up fake dating as her ex is a family friend who will be at her parents vow renewal. There is a whole mistaken identity aspect to this story which did frustrate me with its miscommunication but also it was part of the fun.

I really loved coming along for the ride with these two as they slowly but surely realise that they would rather make real what is fake. The story had a lovely theme of self-discovery and acceptance that Abbbey went through and it was a really hopeful read for the most part. The ex was awful and I was so glad when he got what he deserved but more so I was so happy when both abbey and ted got their HEA.

Her upstairs neighbor Mike , the hotshot sportsman is perfect for this arrangement, fake romance is what she needs !
.
Well this was a easy breezy read, I managed to finish it in a couple of hours , the writing was simple to read through. Fake dating / Romance trope was well done, the individual characters were well developed and given enough back story for the reader's to believe why they took certain choices in their actions. But do not get into this expecting depth or load of meaningful , soul reflecting love story, it in fact feels very instant with the way the characters realized their, love, their personal issues and solutions for them which they never pondered much on before . It's more like fluff that you want to read and forget later.

While the story was very predictable, I found it to be a good choice to spend a late afternoon to be entertained with a quick read.
It's a 3.25 / 5 🌟 read.

Not sure if it was just from reading other reviews but I really just was not a fan of the guys mindsets in this book. I feel the overall plot was holey and felt just very rushed all over for me. Thank you for the Arc!

Well it seems I like romance now. 😄

This was very similar in reading style to The Spanish Love Deception which I also highly enjoyed; so needless to say I enjoyed this even though I wasn't sure if I would or not. Turns out I am really enjoying the trope of fake dating especially when they inevitable happens.

Most of the characters were likeable enough, except the ex-partners but that was a given. I really enjoyed the two main characters a lot and their journey towards the end of the story.

I will most definitely check out more by this author.

This was a sweet and very chaste romance. If you are into close door or no spice romance this one is extremely low on the heat meter. Not my cup of tea but it was cute.

Few things I didn't like in the book.
1. How much of a miso the mmc was written to be. On more than one occasion he referred to women who wear makeup as "fake" and talked about false eyelashes in a negative tone.

2. The ending was way too rushed. They said they loved each other so soon. There was not enough build up.

It had potential but I was left wanting more.

Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy.

Thank you @rararesouces and (@LCarterAuthor) for letting me be part of tbis tour and reviewing this book. Fake it till you make it, is romantic comedy genre. I absolutely adored this book, and I was sad it ended because it is a brilliant read that made me laugh out loud in places. Loved it. I will definitely be putting Laura Carter on my favourite author list and I will be reading more from her. I was hooked to the story straight away and enjoyed every bit of this book. The story about Abi who thinks her boyfriend is going to propose but how wrong she is. Abi then flees to apartment where she's always wanted to live and has no job but uses her wedding fund to pay for it, then she meets Ted. I loved the characters and how they both bounce off each other. Fake it till you make it has a fantastic plot and is written extremely well that keeps you hooked to the book. The story's at a good pace, you can keep up with and is a fun and entertaining read. If you like romcom this is a brilliant read and is a great page tuner. 5 stars.

DNF @ 43%

Ted (H) + Abbey (h)

What It Was Supposed To Be:
- Fake Dating [Romcom Style]
- A Strong and Independent FMC
- Likable MCs
- An Interesting Plot Leading to HEA
- Undeniable Chemistry between MCs

All I got was two liar MCs. And none of the things I thought I would get from this book

Thank you Ms. Laura Carter, Boldwood Books and Netgalley for approving my request to review this book.
The book began with a slow start. There were miscommunication, and that's what enhanced the quality of the plot. Their banter was hilarious. I really wanted their identity crisis to come to an end! I was glad that the chapter containing Fleur and Andrew quickly came to an end, because "Once a Cheater, Always a Cheater".
The climax and the ending made me so anxious. It was worth the wait! Overall the book was a mixture of comedy and adulthood with a pinch of romance and tears. Unpopular opinion - But I really wish to see more of Mike's story. I feel like he has a lot to carry, and is not actually what the media showcases. Maybe in other book we'll see him?
Till then, this book is a standalone, and is recommended for a good roller coaster ride.

This book was cute!! I always enjoy a fake dating trope so I was super excited to read this book! Things I didn’t like - miscommunication and the ending :/

I am a huge fan of fake dating! It's one of my all time favorite tropes, however, I felt like it didn't really work here because they weren't only fake dating they were faking who they were. I wanted to feel like they were in on a secret together and instead I felt like their insecurity was keeping them apart. I also felt a bit mixed about the message the story sent about who they were pretending to be. The over confident and shallow model/actress as villain feels a bit overdone. Ultimately this one was not for me. I would recommend this one for people who don't mind mistaken identity and miscommunication and are really interested in stories about adults who are still finding themselves.

Cute fake dating romance, with fun characters. Its also easy to read!
I was a little bit annoyed by the plot that contains lie after lie, and i felt the longer it went on, the worse i felt, but i also know that specific cringy annoyance is exactly part of the story. It is written to make you feel the terror of having told lie after lie and delaying the truth. Laura carter did good in making the reader feel that! She also did great in making you feel butterflies!

Well when two liars lie and 'fall in love' this book was just annoying.
Not one character was truthful. At first it started as mistaken identity then snowballed into full blown lying and starting a relationship based on lies is never great.

While abbies lies were lies at least she showed some backbone and tried to make her lies a reality. Where as his lies were just lies and he didn't show much in way of wanting to correct it untill he was called out.
Yet everyone forgave each other because love?!?

Least the writing style was OK and manageable

I enjoyed reading about Abbey’s story but I found it difficult to believe she didn’t realise Ted and Mike were different people.
If you enjoy a slow burn romance with lots of misunderstandings, this is the book for you.

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

Title: Fake it ‘til you make it
Author: Laura Carter
Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

If you’re looking for a cute and cheesy fake-dating rom com then this is for you. This book is a super easy read with short chapters and loveable characters.. (adding Ted to my list of book boyfriends).

The plot is quite predictable and the airport scene is just so cliché but the book also reminds me of “The proposal” and that is one of my fave film’s ever sooo 😂💝

I don’t know about everyone else, but sometimes I need a book like this one to break up all the super deep reads and it definitely done the job!

Honestly - I really struggled with this one. It was lighthearted, but the ending was so disappointing to me. It just ended like that and I was like ?????????

Overall the romance in this was slow burn, with angst and heartfelt moments. It is a "glimpses and kisses" aka a clean romance. There is a lot of tension between the two, Ted and Abby, There is a lot of miscommunication, so if that's not your jam you won't like this. If you liked spanish love deception you'll like this book.... except for the ending.

That's how this book was for me. It was a super cute and feel good book.

Such an easy and quick read too! I enjoyed reading it, a lot.

Definitely will be recommending this book to everyone! Please read this book!

I've been struggling with my thoughts on 'Fake it 'til You Make it' since I finished it. I love fake dating tropes, they make my day but this book did not. For me, I felt no chemistry between Abbey and Ted, I understand it's meant to be an Enemies to lovers trope but they did not seem to like each other at all. I know they were both pretending to be different people but honestly, who they were, was pretty off-putting. Abbey was supposed to be a feminist but I felt like she was not, especially when she makes judgmental thoughts about other women because of how they dress and look.

Ted felt very misogynistic, also judging women by how they look even though I felt like Carter was trying a bit too hard to make him appear sympathetic just because women who like to look nice remind him of his cheating fiance. The ending also felt very rushed, which threw the pacing off as the author dedicated a lot of time to building it up. I also felt like there was zero to no character development .

Overall, a pass for me.
