This book took me on a ride I did not see coming. It started sweet & innocent & then went full on dark & twisted. It was so good! Let's just say-- you need to find out what the secrets are next door!

When a popular author moves into town, it starts unnerve some of its residents. Why did she choose to move here? What is her motive? Is she spying on the residents? Tabitha, the towns queen bee has made it her mission to get to the bottom of what is going on, with the help of her twin sister Talia, of course.

I'm honestly still thinking about this book & the way things all went down because it completely shocked me. I usually can at least figure out some of the twists & turns but let me tell you-- this one got me good, but in the best way!

Thank you so much NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, & Sally Royer-Derr for this ARC

Was ok. didn't seem overly professional writing. The narrator was like nails on a chalkboard whenever she laughed, talked like a child, or got mad. The ending was amazing and blew me out of the water. The middle was ok but not super intense. not sure I would call it a thriller. I don't think i would have been able to finish the book had I tried to read it and not listened to it.

Solid beginning - loved the start. The description into Tahlia and Tabitha's cozy life.

Great narrator. Her child voices are funny. The gruff voices for the dialogues of Zach, Grant, Dad, etc are also hilarious. The narrator has a very wide vocal range and great talent. Sometimes a bit too breathy but a nice audiobook nonetheless.

It's a predictable but nice mystery. Sometimes too much detail into clothes and shoes and nail polish and hats and hairstyles. Could've cut those out. Don't need to know the flavor of every single cupcake in the box.

About the characters? Lying cheating philandering murderers. All of them except Tabitha and Anne are good. The last few chapters where Tabitha describes her "love story" with Zach is just ew. Grant is gross. Tabitha is the worst sister anyone could ever have. Zach is a monster who needs decades of therapy to become an acceptable human being. Feel bad for poor Cole. To choose between a cheating dad and a murdering mom. Loved the writing style too.

My issue with this book? The premonitions. It was going great until then. The premonition just added a supernatural thing that made the entire story seem very unrealistic. It's a twist but not a pleasant one. Was not a fan of that.

But overall it's a nice read. I'd definitely pick it up from a library for a one time read.

Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook. The suspense was constant throughout the novel leaving me wondering how it would end. This story centers around twin sisters whom I found the behaviors and thoughts to be far fetched, even for a suspense novel. Because of this I didn't feel connected to the characters. Then there were other times where the obvious was completely overlooked. It was frustrating to listen to at times. I do appreciate the author giving an ending that I didn't see coming!

Wow is honestly all I can say. I can't even imagine being in this story. The twist and reveal really had me so mad. It was a very interesting book.

This is a story about twin sisters who live next door to each other. It's told from the point of view of 3 different people. The husbands aren't strong characters in this story. Although the sisters are very close to each other, one is more dominant. She entices her twin and that twin's husband to move to be near her and her husband. The twins have a bakery together and they socialize together. But resentment is evident in both.

Then a strange woman moves in. She's a well known writer but she seems to be secretive and perhaps a bit strange. The sisters are both intrigued and put off.

The opening scene grabbed my attention. This book is a thriller, which I enjoyed tremendously. There were some aspects that I figured out, but not the entire surprise twist. This is the first book I've ready by this author, but I'll be adding her to the list of authors I'll want to read again.

I listened to the audio version of the book. I thought the narrator was good, but very dramatic.

Oof.

Narrator - this narrator felt a bit unhinged. She was overly dramatic at points that felt unnecessary and her children voices were grating. Why did she feel the need to yell every time she spoke for Cole?

Plot - I kept listening despite the narrator because I was interested to see what twist the story would take and perhaps if it were a bit more believable I could’ve given this a higher rating. It all felt very unrealistic. I also really dislike when the twist is something you couldn’t have feasibly guessed…no hints were actually given about it.

Unfortunately, this is one I don’t think I’ll be recommending to friends.

Hmmmmm not sure quite what to say..,the pace was slow and a lot of time and description on every the twins did. The twist was good, but honestly it just kept going. Good thoughts just too many.

This was a fast past well thought out storyline. Gives desperate housewives vibes and easy to enjoy. I love the author really thought about all the details including what happens after the twist.

Wow! Talk about a twisted ending!
I really enjoyed this story about a complicated relationship between twin sisters Tallia and Tabitha and then the new neighbor Ann.
Slowly we find out more and more about their past and who they all really are.
I loved how the story unfolded and how it all made sense at the end.
Great job by the narrator.

3/5 Stars! Thank you, NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, and Storm Publishing for the audiobook of The Secrets Next Door by Sally Royer-Derr narrated by Patricia Rodriguez.

First off, the narrator did a great job narrating all the characters in this book. Some parts made me laugh but I could follow the story pretty easily. I really wish the twin's names were different because I had to go back to the beginning of the chapter to remind myself which twin was talking (not that big of a deal to me). This was a little slow so I had to increase the audio speed to 2x to get to the point. There wasn't so much of a twist to the story but a lot of information that the main character and the reader wouldn't have known about. The part about the twin was slightly predictable but I still enjoyed the ending.

This is my first novel from this author and I'd like to try another one of her books. Again, the narrator did a fantastic job of narrating the different POV of the characters - and this is from someone who prefers multiple narrators.

Pick this up for a fun domestic suspense listen! I love a neighborhood with secrets and this one delivered. Told from alternating POVs, the narrator was fantastic for this audio edition. The plotline was not anything particularly special or memorable, but enjoyable nonetheless. I would recommend this for listeners who enjoy twins as characters as well!

The Secrets Next Door is a slow burn thriller that centers around twin sisters and next door neighbors, Talia and Tabitha, and the mystery novel author, Anne, that moves in next door. Talia is happy to welcome her to the neighborhood, but Tabitha sees her as a problem and it causes problems between both Talia and Tabitha and Talia and her husband. Secrets are revealed and their lives will never be the same.

This was definitely a slow burn for me, but once the story started to pick up and secrets were revealed, I was eager to get to the end. I listened to the audiobook and the voice actor did a great job, except I couldn’t stand the voice she did for Tabitha’s son Cole. I liked that the story was told in multiple points of view, but didn’t feel particularly tied to any of the characters until I got closer to the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for an advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Tallia and Tabatha are twin sisters Tallia is married to Zack and Tabatha is married to grant. Talya is nice and down to earth in Tabitha is mean girl nice she likes the finer things in life. Ever since the twins were little they’ve known Zack he had first was in love with Tabatha and would do her every bidding but after college he wound up marrying Tallia instead. They also own a popular bakery in town and superficial Tabatha does the baking and down to earth Tallia decorates. On the day of Tabatha‘s son Cole’s sixth birthday party the sisters get a new neighbor because oh yes they live next-door to each other. The new neighbor is AN Hadley she’s had success with a couple of books but isn’t a household name as of yet. The next day when Tabatha and Thalia go to welcome Annie to the neighborhood Talia think she’s nice and excited she’s there but when they leave Tabatha immediately lets her sister know something is up with Annie she says her husband Grant has to take business meetings in hotel rooms because there was a spy in his security firm and people are leery about going to the Wall Street firm in person.Tabatha believes that is why their new neighbor is there and it’se to investigate grant. Tallia lives in between Tabatha and their new neighbor and so she is privy to some strange things that occur at the neighbors house. Despite this she still invites Danny to lunch and find she really likes her. Tabitha has always liked having her twin to herself with no interference but when someone winds up dead marks the beginning of the end and unknown to one of them this isn’t the first dead body between them.. Let me start with Stacy Gonzalez, who’s narration I really love she doesn’t change her voice just the affect of each character I really think she would be really good at cartoons, but does great at narration as well. No on to the audiobook this story in many instances didn’t test the smell test but having said that I still found that I was totally engrossed in interested in the outcome of the story. After the prologue are usually forget the prologue and just type deep into the story and it’s some cases I have even skipped the prologue in the case of this book I forgot all about it by the time I was on chapter 2 so I didn’t know what was going to happen I didn’t know how everything was going to play out and so I was definitely riveted and couldn’t wait to see how it ended and boy what an ending it certainly didn’t end the way I thought it was going to so as far as recommending this book I definitely definitely recommend it! It was a great (although eyerolling is involved) a great story I definitely want to thank Net Galley and The publisher for the free Ark please forgive any mistakes I am blind.

This is a suburban, domestic thriller that follows twins who live next door to one another. One twin, Tabitha, is hesitant and cautious when Anne moves in next to her twin Talia. Talia sees her arrival as an opportunity to make a new friend, but it causes tension between her and Tabitha, and she can’t figure out why her perfect husband keeps taking Tabitha’s side on their disagreements.

Then Tabitha’s husband dies in an accident, and Anne just happened to be out of town that weekend…

There are some things I really liked about this book, and others that I didn’t.

Let’s start with the pros: I find suburban and domestic thrillers so fun, because they take mundane day to day activities and twist it up. I really enjoyed the small town vibes, happenstances (such as seeing Anne when they go into NYC), and especially the hijinks that occur due to the proximity of living next to each other.

Some things I didn’t enjoy as much mostly include the fact that the twists weren’t always so much a twist, but more so due to information that the main character (depending on the POV) and reader didn’t know. To be fair, switching to the other twin’s POV helped this out by revealing some details, but if you pair that with an unreliable narrator, all is fair game.

The narrators were great and I did enjoy this audiobook. Consider picking it up if you’re in the mood for a fun and mysterious suburban thriller!

This book suffers from tipping its hand a little too early, and then being a little boring until it wraps up. It is exciting and a good read up until it reveals way too much and then has nothing left to drop at the end.

Read if you like: parent trap? Idk

I listened to the audiobook and liked the narrator, she did different voices and helped build up the suspense. I didn’t love the author’s writing style, so much of it felt immature and with all of the extraneous details given, the ending still came out of nowhere but not in a good way. The characters were all parodies and the child is basically pawned off on anybody that will take him. The good part is the writing did hook me and I wanted to see where the storyline would go. I doubt I would recommend this one, it feels like it’s way too much.

This audio was done really well. The prologue locks you in and makes you want to keep reading as you try to figure out what is going on with all of these characters. So many twists and turns and honestly i didn’t seen the way things unfolded coming.

It flowed, was faced paced and enjoyable. I enjoyed the dual POV of the sisters as well.
I would have loved to see some chapters or an epilogue from Anna’s POV and just to have some things explained more than we kind of got left unanswered based on her mindset of why she did certain things, but overall was an enjoyable read.

This was a nice, slow-burn suspense, and I would give it a solid 3.5 ⭐ rounded up to 4.

With twins, I often feel like it can go one of two ways. It can be really well done, or a premise that is overly used that makes one roll their eyes. This fell into the second category for me. I think this was well done partially because I wasn't quite sure where this story was headed until 60% of the way through the book.

There was good character development, I think there could have been a little more with a few secondary characters, and a little more backstory with the main characters and how they met their husbands, etc. I think it also would have been nice to know where the story was going before more than halfway through the book. But I know that may have just been me-

My overall opinion of this book is it was a solid mystery, with some nice suspense, and a bit of wtf is going on. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "thriller", but there is a good mystery. I would recommend this to people who are looking for books that have an interesting premise, a "where are we going" feeling, and weird family dynamics type of book.
