This book was super cute. I love a sweet little Hallmark like Christmas story. This book definitely hit the nail on the head. However, there were some things I didn’t like about the book. The writing was choppy to me. It didn’t flow well throughout the book. There were certain parts of the book that were leading up to something and it just quickly wrapped up the situation or it just moved on. I also feel the ending needed an epilogue. It just stopped and I definitely wanted to know more. Also, the whole parent volunteer taking over everything and trying to ruin events was too much. The first time a volunteer tried to ruin an event that earned the school money, the principal would step in. In a teacher so this one particularly erked me.
Overall, I did enjoy the story with the kids and how everything played out. Definitely a cute read for Christmas.
Thank you to the publisher and author for the ARC.
This is a cute small town holiday romance! I enjoyed the development of the characters, they were likable and realistic. You were really rooting for them through the story.. I was a little confused by who the romance blossomed, it felt a little sudden, but once it was there it progressed nicely..
This is the perfect holiday read. Think hallmark movie in a book.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book on exchange for an honest review..
This cute story is filled with second chances at love, sabotage, and of course, cookies. The main characters are a widow and divorcee, but not actively grieving. When Melody and Jonathan team up to save the town's Cookie Committee days before the annual events are set to begin, sparks fly. Full of holiday traditions and community spirit, this fun read is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
I loved everything about this Christmas story, there is romance, cookies, mayhem, community spirit and a lot of love. This is the kind of story that will make you wish you it would go on forever.
Although, at the beginning of the story there is a little tension between the main characters, it will soon go away when Melody takes charge of the Yuletide Cookie club. It will force Melody and Jonathan to put their heads together and save the day and make Christmas truly memorable.
I also loved all of Melody's family who stand by her and help in anyway they could to help with the events and her love life and its very endearing and sweet. I also loved when a catastrophe happens to one of the events the community came together to help.
Finally, the romance between Melody and Jonathan is the kind that grows as they learn and understand about each other and will make you wish you had a Jonathan in your life too.
This is truly a delightful tale.
I want to thank PENGUIN GROUP Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for an advance copy of this wonderful Christmas story
Although reading this in the Spring, you can for sure get in the Holiday Spirit with this book!
A good read any time of the year, but I will also probably re-read during the winter holiday season!
Absolutely loved this book! It was a cute storyline and makes me so excited for the holiday season again, even though it's only April!! This book could be great for anyone who loves a good plot and loveable characters. Highly recommend!
Christmas can be a stressful time of year and when you are a single mother of twin boys I imagine that stress is amplified. Eliza Evan’s wrote a truly enjoyable fun book about what it’s like to be a parent in the cut throat arena of the PTO. I truly related to the strong personalities that are involved in elementary school politics. Loved all the traditions Melody and her twins had, even inspired me to start a few more of my own. Definitely will recommend to my friends with younger kids! 31/2 ⭐️
Thank you NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. First of all I have to say that it was a nice change of pace to be reading a Christmas book at this time of the year. (Have been reading a lot of sports romances lately). I REALLY enjoyed this sweet holiday romance. Melody is doing her best to keep their lives on track as a single-mom to twin boys and a business woman. But getting the boys out the door to school on time isn't the easiest resulting in many tardies and many calls for her into the grumpy buttoned-up principal's office. When the town celebrations of Cookie Daze is threatened Melody steps up to take on the committee organizing the event. This results in many more meetings with Principal Braxton. Can they work out their differences to pull together to make the festival a success for their town. Much fun ensues! This is a very sweet holiday story in the likeness of the treasured Hallmark Christmas movies. I thoroughly recommend this book as an enjoyable holidays read.

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 As parents know, we bust our little behinds to make Christmas a magical time for our kids. For the longest time, I lived in fear of the day the real truth would come out about the big guy in red, terrified that I would be labeled a liar by my children. Luckily, they figured it out in the sweetest way possible (my daughter said that only mom knows us that well to get us these thoughtful gifts) and instead of harboring animosity, they embraced the magic I had worked their whole lives to create.
The Christmas Cookie Wars is a heartwarming novel that embodies all parents who will sacrifice anything and everything for their children. Life is not easy for Melody and her twin boys after losing their husband and father six years ago. And grief has a way of being extra sneaky during the holidays and I am so grateful for Eliza Evans’ narration of this throughout the book. But when Melody hears the renowned Cookie Daze is canceled, nothing can stop her from stepping up to save the holidays…not even the grumpy principal! And perhaps behind his rough exterior, there is more. The Cookie Wars is the perfectly delightful holiday read that brings the magic of it all alive…even for the adults doing their best to make it happen.
Review is posted in Goodreads and will be on Instagram ahead of the publication date!
Very nice book, perfect for reading during the Christmas holidays, it gives you exactly that Christmas vibe we need.
The love story between Melody and Jonathan is very sweet, it was nice to see Melody fall in love again.
Terrific cover!
Thanks to PENGUIN GROUP Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for an giving me tha chance to read this book.
I imagine "The Christmas cookie wars" as the perfect Christmas movie. A small town, a single woman who has no more interest in men, the air tastes like snow.
There's a bit of suspense, looots of feelings, lots of romantic moments and sometimes funny. We meet Melody, a single mom juggling work and her twins. Having been widowed for 6 years now, for the sake of her family, and to preserve her heart, she abolished men from her life.
But when she agrees to "save" Christmas, for the good of her family, by helping the community, she finds herself spending a lot of time with Jonathan, the school principal, and her heart is on the line again.
PS the cover is gorgeous!
I will definitely be doing a re-read of this book over the Christmas period. He deserves!
Thanks to PENGUIN GROUP Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for an advance copy of this cozy story!
Looking for a lighthearted Christmas read with a little mayhem added? Check out The Christmas Cookie Wars by Eliza Evans. We follow Melody a young widow, mother of two boys, and clothing boutique owner. Melody is trying hard to hold onto the Christmas traditions her family enjoys each year, but her boys are getting older and letting go of some of the traditions Melody holds dear to her heart. When the towns cookie committee disbands and cancels all cookie activities and fundraising events, Melody takes action and heads up the committee. There’s only one problem, Melody can’t bake. In fact, she’s really bad at baking. Elementary school principle Jonathan saves the day by stepping in to offer advice and to help with the committee. As the months activities begin, mayhem ensues. Each event that the town holds is sabotaged in some way. Eliza Evan’s is fantastic at writing small town Christmas reads. The romance between Melody and Jonathan is sweet and clean. This book is particularly good at bringing awareness to how difficult it is to decide when it’s time to start dating after being widowed at a young age, especially when you have kids. This book was full of Christmas activities such as sledding, ice skating, baking, shopping, and snowman building. It really puts you into the Christmas spirit.
This was a great Christmas read. Melody is a wonderful and relatable character. The Christmas Cookie Wars is pretty much a cozy Christmas movie in book form.
Thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
This was so cute! This is going to be the perfect read during the Christmas season. It was a fun read, and yes a little cheesy but it wasn’t too much. I really liked the characters and Melody was a likeable character and pretty relatable with her thoughts.
I really enjoyed all the Christmas related festivities they did. It was literally like a cozy Christmas movie. I will definitely be rereading this during the winter season!
What an adorable and fun addition to the cozy Christmas book set. This is a standalone and gives you all the warm & fuzzies, perfect for the holiday season and spirit. It's got romance, community, atmospheric vibes, holiday spirit, humor, and all the good feels. I can't wait for the season to approach so I can recommend this as a must-read this next Christmas season!
Thank you Putnam Books and Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC.
This cute novel follows Melody and her twin boys as they try to keep Christmas traditions going after her husband passed away six years prior. Melody has sworn off love, and devoted all of her time and energy into her ten years olds.
She takes over the townwide Christmas cookie fundraising, and starts falling for the boy's principal, Jonathan Braxton, who is also on the committee. During this time, she not only keeps the spirit of Christmas alive for her children, she learns to open her heart again for love with Jonathan.
If you love cozy, Christmas books, this definitely a good read. It's the right amount of cheesy romance, with some very likable characters.
The Christmas Cookie Wars is another delightful holiday read from Eliza Evans. I loved the dyamnics between the two main characters from the hostile ebginning to falling in love woth each other. It also came across as a fairly relaistic portrait of lofe as a single mom after your partner passes away.. i would recommend this book to anybody who is looking for a cozy Christmas read.
The Christmas Cookie Wars is a delightful holiday romance with a touch of mystery. Melody and Jonathan have been navigating single parenthood without much knowledge of one another other than a few exasperating parent-principal confrontations. When Charlene, a bossy know-it-all fellow parent, threatens the town's holiday traditions by unilaterally disbanding the school's cookie committee, Melody volunteers to keep things on track. While her decision was made partly to show Jonathan she is not simply a hot mess always running late, it also fuels her desire to preserve her own family holiday traditions for her growing sons. As Jonathan and Melody work together to pull off what seems an impossible feat, they start to develop feelings for one another. But someone isn't happy about how well things are moving along, both in terms of the holiday events and the relationship growing between Melody and Jonathan. Sabotage threatens a principal's career, family relationships and a town's traditions. Despite the obstacles, Jonathan and Melody band together to save Christmas, unmask an unlikely sabatouer, and build a future for themselves and their children.

A feel good holiday read! This is just like the Hallmark movies that I love to watch (and there are plenty of movies with baking themes so this fits right in!!)
We have a single mom (widower) that is trying to keep it all together with her twin boys. She is understandably frazzled most of the time as she tries to balance everything. Did she have the time- or skills- to take on the cookie committee? Nope. But she did it to keep traditions alive for her sons and community which I loved!! Now bring in the cute Principal and you know where this is going!!
It was predictable, but adorably so! I will be re-reading in December!!!
