This book was heart warming and great for getting into the holiday spirit. It has a great combination of humor, romance and heart warming moments.
A slow burn romance, holiday book? Yes please. This was fun and I was so pleased to have an ARC. The characters were great - give this one a shot!
This was SUCH a sweet read! I was obsessed with the theme of everything revolving around cookies. The small town setting made the story even better.
I enjoyed how much Melody's kids were involved in the story. I love the family aspect of this story so much.
Sometimes kids get pushed to the side of single parent books.
The romance was so sweet and grew naturally between the leads!! Loved it so much! The conflict also felt so realistic and had a very realistic resolution.
This cute small-town story is filled with heartwarming moments as a single mom and a grumpy school principal fall in love while saving the school's Christmas cookie fundraiser. It's a perfect feel-good holiday read.
⭐️⭐️ This seriously lacked romance. The focus on cookies was just too much for me. There was 0 spice. If you are looking for an innocent, Christmas story, this book is for you! Just didn’t do it for me.
This was a fun, quick read. It will definitely make you crave cookies the whole time you are reading it.
I enjoyed Melody and her relationship with her sons. She lost her husband a few years prior and she is still having a hard time with life. That is until she throws herself into leading the yearly cookie club because the snob that was leading it decided she didn't want to do it anymore and it was going to be disbanded. This club really seemed to wake Melody up, make her want to be early, do things for people and actually enjoy trying to bake. Then she has a shocking connection with the school principal and is trying to navigate that as well as getting ready for xmas, continue working at her boutique and deal with the cookie wars. It just flowed along so fast that before I knew it I was done with it. It had a great ending.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.
Overview: After learning that the elementary school’s cookie committee has been disbanded, Melody Monroe, a widow with twin 10-year old boys, signs up to be the new head of the committee in order to save the annual school event Cookie Daze and to strengthen the bond between her and her sons. But she will have to work closely with the school’s stuffy and uptight principal, Mr Braxton, who has been giving her way too many lectures about her boys’ behavior in recent weeks…
Thoughts: What a cute book!! I was looking for a lighthearted read and this one hit the spot. The backdrop of the elementary school cookie committee and the supporting characters were so fun! Usually I’m not a fan of uptight characters like Mr Braxton (is it just me or did he mention his grandmother WAY too many times? lol), but I loved how supportive he was of Melody and how they bonded over being single parents.
Take home message: This is a hilarious and joyful romcom that will get you in the mood for the upcoming holiday season! Features the “opposites attract” trope with a single mother who works with (and ends up falling for) her boys’ school principal while attempting to save an annual school cookie-themed event. This is a clean/sweet romance (has sugar with no spice but has everything else that’s nice!).
Thanks to NetGalley and Putnam for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!
Thank you to the publisher and to netgalley! This was such a heartwarming book that I think will resonate with many readers! Melody is a mom of two boys and is trying to revive the holiday spirit for her children after the death of their father. Enter the grumpy school principal single father who teams up with Melody to save the school bake sale. It is filled with cheer and nostalgia!
First I would like to thank Netgalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC of this novel.
This book was like a cozy Hallmark movie in book format. I thought both Melody and Jonathan were great characters and the Christmas setting was wonderful.
I really enjoyed Melody’s journey and a single mom and her close knit family. I also thought Jonathan was sweet and a great male lead I just felt their chemistry was just not quiet there. I could have used a little more banter between the two main characters.
I also loved all the Christmas activities throughout the book and loved how all the kids were incorporated into the novel. My only other complaint was the small mystery and how it wrapped up. It just didn’t make sense for me.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and if you are into hallmark Christmas movies you will really enjoy this book.
3.5/5 stars rounded up to 4 for this review.
The Christmas Cookie Wars by Eliza Evans was a romance novel perfect for the holiday season.
We meet widowed mother Melody and divorced father Jonathan and learn the annual community Christmas Cookie fundraiser festival events are in trouble. When Melody steps up to manage the festival of events, we watch her fumble and shine with the help of Jonathan. Will the Christmas Cookie Daze go off without a hitch?
This novel is perfect for anyone who loves a good Hallmark Christmas romance movie. I was cheering for our couple throughout the book. This novel also brought out my sweet tooth and I found myself continually wanting to bake a batch of cookies. Add this book to your holiday reads TBRs.

I want to give this book 2.5 stars. This story started off really slow for me and then kind of came to a halt when I read that her late-husband's name was Thomas because my dad's name is Thomas and he got sick and passed away as well. I just have a hard time reading stories like that. Based on my own experience with a parent passing away and having the other parent date/remarry, it was a little hard to keep reading but that isn't because of the Author or the story itself, that's just my own personal struggles. With that being said, once the story picked up I really loved Jonathan and Melody. I loved watching their relationship unfold in real time and it felt genuine. I loved all of the holiday activities and the community coming together for them all. I will say the ending felt really cheesy and that brought my rating down quite a bit because people were so quick to judge and assume... especially the "third act breakup," it was way too cheesy for me and short-lived. Overall the story was fine. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Melody was trying to make the best Christmas for her boys. This book was really cute & fun had all the fun things a Christmas book should have..a grouchy grinch person, a person who loves Christmas & wants to spread that joy to others, sugar & some romance. I will recommend this to my book club.
A mom struggles to connect with her children after the death of her husband, and she struggles to connect with a new love interest. Of course it doesn’t hurt that the group shares a common interest in baking, specifically cookies! This book could be turned right into a Hallmark movie. Very easy to read, quick and mostly light romantic comedy.
I want to live in a Christmas Book Town. They all have such fun events and festivals and this one does not disappoint They have a Weeks long Cookie theme festival with cookie swaps, obstacle courses, bake offs and competitions. Add in a cute love story and adorable children and the book is so wholesome and has so many Christmas references that it was very enjoyable to read. The pages kept turning and the cravings for Christmas Cookies were strong.

I loved this book so much! Who doesn’t love cookies and Christmas! Melody was such a great character, and I loved that she was fighting to keep tradition alive. This is the perfect book to escape real life and jump into the world of cozy holiday romance. The chemistry was fantastic, and I did not want this book to end!
Thank you, Net Galley, the author, and the publisher, for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was so fun and cozy. A great way to start the holiday season!! Melody was a really relatable character, she is so caretaking and sweet. I nloved her bond with her boys. This book was super cute and just an overall hug. This made me so excited for the holidays.
Any book that has a plot line centered around cookies is a winner in my eyes. Quick paced and a fun read overall.
This book is just enchanting. Melody and Jonathan are characters that readers are going to fall in love with. They are characters that are easy to root for and super loveable. I truly enjoyed the chaos that is Melody. While the world seems to be falling apart her ability to pull it together was enduring and realistic. Yes, it was not perfect, but some of the things she did to save the town’s tradition were inspiring. This book was also realistic about kids getting to an age where the Christmas magic is just not the same. It can be hard to let go but sometimes letting go is how new traditions are made.
Thank you so much to Penguin Group Putnam and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.
Thank you @netgalley and @putnambooks for my ebook arc of The Christmas Cookie Wars by Eliza Evans!
So, tbh I am a firm, CHRISTMAS STARTS AFTER THANKSGIVING girly, just because I love fall so much. I don’t want to rush into my favorite holiday, I love building my way there. However this book has been such a delightful treat amongst my spooky fall reading!
This definitely has hallmark movie vibes, it’s not spicy and it’s very sweet and wholesome. It’s perfect for fans of a small town, the blended family dynamic, and just a hint of mystery. One of my favorite holiday activities is baking cookies so this was right up my alley! There are some cringey lines here and some times where the plot suffers as a result, but overall a nice holiday book to give as a secret Santa gift or to take on you holiday travels!
This was a sweet book, I loved the setting, small town vibes and the atmosphere! I think the writing wasn’t always the best, and the romantic lines made me cringe, however the chemsitry between the two main characters was great, and I love to see a blended family dynamic. If you love a hallmark christmas moive, and baking during the holidays, this book is a great cozy option!
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
The Christmas Cookie Wars is a feel good Sweet Christmas Romance book that follows Melody, a widowed mother of twin tweenager boys. As the Christmas season is approaching she is struck with the realization that her boys are getting older and are out-growing some of their treasured family traditions. When the Cookie Daze celebration, a town holiday cookie extravaganza, gets canceled due to drama with the previous leader, Melody steps up to try and save a tradition that is close to her heart. Along the way she must work with Jonathan Braxton, the boys’ school principal and one of their town’s most eligible single dads. Between the drama of the holiday season, a cookie competition with high stakes, and some budding relationships this book is a sweet and fun read that will get you in the holiday spirit and will make you want to snack on some delicious cookies!
Tropes include: Single Mom, Single Dad, Girl Boss, Enemies(ish, more like Nemesis)-to-Lovers, Among Others!
These opinions are my own. I was provided an ARC copy through NetGalley.
