This book offers profound insights into the learning journeys of successful leaders, blending compelling stories with practical strategies. It invited me to very enjoyable reflection sessions, sparking new ideas that could be applied to my work. The author's expertise shines through, making complex concepts accessible and engaging. I particularly appreciated the well-structured format, with the book divided into 3 main parts and featuring short, crisp chapters packed with great stories and examples. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC – I tremendously enjoyed it.
A simple book about the various environments where you can learn.
Pros:
It's extremely accessible
Not a lot of jargon
Talks a lot about life experiences
Cons
Sort of excuses racism/sexism in many places. If you are a minority and you are not treated right in your workplace, this book seems to suggest "try harder to fit in," which should never be the message, I believe.
I got a digital copy of this book via NetGalley and I really enjoyed reading the book. Compiling all these stories from all the leaders made the book extremely relatable while reading and therefore made it engaging as well.
Must read book, if we are a leader or aspiring to become one.
Learning is a skill fueled by a curious mind. Good leaders are on a constant hunt to find out how things work, what advances there team and the task, and how to look at problems from another point of view.
Novak examines the skills of learning, from tapping into relationships and resources to maintaining an open mindset to putting ideas into action. Whether you are learning from where you came from, where you are now, or exploring new environments, you'll get ideas and practical tips.
Each chapter includes a principle of learning, stories, and resources. It ends with questions to coach you into a deeper understanding of what you already know and where the gaps are that you need to fill.
Excellent for new or experienced leaders in business, religion, or non-profits.
A great book on leadership, things you should and shouldn't do with clear examples. Thank you netgalley for the advance reader copy
