One of the best alphabet books I've read. I already added it to my ordering list for our library.
Each letter takes us through acts of kindness, gratitude, and joy. It's very uplifting and I think it will resonate well with children and caregivers alike. Nothing I would change about it. It was a great read.
This ebook was made available for me to read and review by Jeanne and Mark K. Shriver, 4U2B Books & Media, and NetGalley.
The illustrator of this vibrant picture ebook is Laura Watson. The images are brightly colored and inviting. The faces of the characters are all unique and realistic looking.
This ebook reinforces both the alphabet and kindness. This ebook encourages children to think about how they phrase words. The images are multicultural and inclusive. This is a sweet book and a wonderful example of using nice words and helping out at home and in the community. Even my older grandkids liked this though I primarily was reading this to the 2.5 yr old who is learning to count to 10.
Thank you to Jeanne and Mark K. Shriver, 4U2B Books & Media, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ebook. All opinions and viewpoints expressed in this review are my own.
As a former preschool teacher and now a mom of four, I think every house should own this book. It was precious! So fun to teach sweet concepts with the ABCs. My kids loved this book. Highly recommend
Alphabet by Heart is a sweet book about using kind words. The story uses rhyming and goes through each letter of the alphabet to showcase the importance of being kind to others and yourself. The illustrations are sweet too and show a diverse range of characters. The book has lovely messages, and it would be great for kids to read and learn about different kind words.
Thank you 4U2B books and media and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
It means a lot when one can teach ABC in different ways rather than old age A for apple B for ball. My kid has book where ABC is all about animals.
Now alphabet by heart is about feelings and emotions and thoughts and it felt great to read as I could make my kid understand what they meant - emotions. Because it might be overwhelming to make kids understand all kind of feelings that one can feel.
Definitely recommend it.
We Love this book. So beautifully written and presented to engage families as they learn the alphabet while learning about values at the same time. The illustrations are colorful yet simple and each letter has its own picture. The book shares with us how powerful words can be, to create a wide range of feelings and emotions. The story also shows us how these words can be very caring, understanding and meaningful. As a mom I can’t stress enough the importance of this book. It is perfect to share as a family with your little ones. The rhyming text and powerful messages create a wonderful way to share important values like empathy and trust, as well as dream, include and quiet. I want to share this book with every family I know. I also think that this would be wonderful to use in an early childhood or elementary classroom. The possibilities are endless. I am thankful to have been allowed the ebook ARC to discover this book. I can’t wait to add it to our own home library.
This was.. okay. It introduces the alphabet and does so by putting a LOT of emphasis on "nice things" like emphathy, kindness, giving, respect, etc. Which is nice but.. tbh it became a little too sugar sweet. What happened to introducing the alphabet through elephants, kangoroos, etc? Not my faourite alphabet boook
Alphabet by Heart by Jeanne and Mark K. Shriver had great illustrations and messages about being kind and empathetic for children learning the alphabet. The illustrations were also great and diverse. The font made it easy to read while holding up for a child. I would absolutely recommend this cute little book to any parent or classroom learning the ABCs to also learn about ways to be a kind and understanding human in the world!
I just reviewed Alphabet by Heart by Jeanne and Mark K. Shriver. #AlphabetbyHeart #NetGalley. This book would be a beautiful addition to any lower school classroom. It's illustrations were captivating and fun. The word choices were very positive and uplifting but hard words for younger kids and book targeted towards younger kids. The rhyming didn't always place well but it was still a very cute read. Thank you for this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
"Alphabet by Heart" by Jeanne and Mark K. Shriver, with illustrations by Laura Watson, has become a cherished addition to our family library! From our 8-month-old to our 9-year-old, all of our children have been enchanted by this delightful ABC book. What truly distinguishes this book is its emphasis on imparting important life lessons alongside each letter. It's amazing to witness our children absorb these values while thoroughly enjoying themselves with a book. "Alphabet by Heart" has swiftly become a beloved staple of our family reading time.
There are many such A-Z books out there, and sometimes I get to see word of one that makes me doubt its success. This, I admit, was one – and I was wrong. It goes through the alphabet very successfully with positivity, and well-meaningness, and happy thoughts, so G is gratitude, R is respect, we Offer upon O, Trust with T and so on. Don't make out there is any other kind of GROT here, though, for the visuals are fine and while the meter and rhythm for the four short lines of verse each time are a little on the loose side things are grand enough there, too. It's a great way of instilling a happier, more gentle, more human mindset, without ever smelling of wokery. If it can create the habit of being like this as well as revise the alphabet I can't really see a thing wrong with it.
Alphabet by Heart is a cute and inspiring picture book about learning the alphabet. Each letter has its own page, with an illustration and a little rhyme. What makes this book nice is that the words used to teach and explain the letters are "kind words," in doing so teaching manners, rhythm, letters, words and explaining feelings. The illustrations picture kids and adults of various shapes and colours, making it an inclusive book as well for all kind of audience.
I loved this abc book about kindness! It is a great SEL book or book about ways kids can spread kindness. It would be a great one for each classroom to have.
Such an adorable book Alphabet by Heart is filled with words of affirmation for children to learn about being positive, loving, kind and caring and polite. Illustration were beautifully done and I think this book is perfect for children. I would buy this book for my grandchildren. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC and an opportunity to review this beautiful book.
Alphabet by Heart is a unique alphabet book that teaches letter learning by incorporating words that begin with each letter into a rhyming story about kindness.
There were a couple places where the rhyming felt a little off, and I paused to reread those sentences to get the rhyming right while I read.
Thank you NetGalley and 4U2B Books & Media for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

We finished and my daughter immediately asked to read it again. We absolutely loved this ABC book to learn letters and all about being kind. We will definitely reread this book a lot!
I got so excited when I saw this book because I love their Kindness A to Z book as well. And it did not disappoint! It is a great alphabet book that not only introduces the alphabet, but kindness and poetry as well. My only complaint is that like most alphabet books, they do not have a word that starts with x, so instead they use a word that makes the noise of x at the beginning. Still, I would highly recommend.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A cute way for kids to learn their alphabet while also learning about kindness and such. My almost four year old enjoyed me reading this one to him, so definitely a good read for learning kiddos.
This is an amazing little book for children of all ages. This book not only helps children learn and remember the alphabet but it also gives them such great encouraging words on how to live and treat others. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
This was a cute book with lovely illustrations. I thought the book was easy to read and would be entertaining for a child. I would consider buying this for a child in my life.
