This is a fast read about a lost sister and a sister desperate to find her. It is a coming to terms type of book. The author tried hard for a lot of twists but most were apparent. The real focus of the book should be the growth or stagnancy of the characters.

Alex and Maddie are sisters who were very close as children in a stressful household. As young adults, Maddie has gone missing, Alex can't reach her by phone and knows that she had been spending the summer in the Hamptons working as a waitress. Alex heads to the Hamptons and starts her search for Maddie.

That search takes Alex to Blackwell Manor, the home of a very affluent family who had taken Maddie in after befriending the daughter, Lily. The Blackwells obviously know something about Maddie's disappearance, but they are staying mum. The conflicts and twists are well handled but there are multiple POV's which affected the flow of the book and also didn't help with empathy towards any of them. I think I would have felt more involved in the story with fewer points of view.

I found some of the events pretty far fetched but I was still anxious to find out what happened to Maddie. I think there is maybe just too much going on and what took Maddie to the Hamptons in the first lace was lost along the way.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was such an interesting and fun read. I never heard of this author before, and I am so glad I took a chance on this one. I will definitely check out her other releases. The Perfect Sister had so many shady questionable characters and surprising twists throughout, that you really never knew where it was going next. Which kept the story highly engaging. and appealing. I really enjoyed this read and look forward to reading more from this author.

I was expecting more from this summer read. The pacing was very slow which hindered the story from ever really grabbing me. It was a typical rich people, murder mystery story. I guessed the “secret” pretty early on and other parts of the story were far fetched and unbelievable.
Loved the cover, just wish the book was as good.

The Perfect Sister by Stephanie DeCarolis had me hooked from the beginning. It’s the perfect summer thriller!

I immediately was pulled in to the lives of Maddie and her sister Alex. After their mother passes away, Alex believes that Maddie is missing, in her new home in the Hamptons. Alex goes to investigate.

This is my first Stephanie DeCarolis novel, I cant wait to read more! The Perfect Sister is filled with old money, the Hamptons, family mystery, secrets and chapters from multiple view points that kept me hooked. I needed to find out what happened to Maddie.

Her missing sister, Maddie, has Alex following her trail to the Hamptons to the spacious home of the Blackwells.
Everyone knows the rich Blackwells. But perhaps the life they portray to the outside is not what is on inside.
There is the wife and mother desperate to save her marriage.
The son, who could never measure up to his father.
The daughter who has uncontrollable rages and then there is the father who is rarely home and provides ‘parties’ for his other rich friends.
“Yes, Maddie was here, but she left and we don’t know where she went.” These words are chilling to Alex. From palatial homes to political aspirations, to strip clubs, to police who look the other way this book has family drama, non stop action and shocking, unexpected confessions and consequences.
Thank you Netgalley and Random House Group/Ballantine for this unpredictable book. This review is my honest opinion.

My thanks to Net Galley and Ballantine Bantam for allowing me to review this arc.

What happened to Maddie Walker? That's what her sister Alix tries to find out when she does not hear from her on her birthday. Her Search leads her to the Blackwell family in the Hamptons where Maddie last stayed. But when Alix arrives she finds a lot of secrets she wished she hadn't.

Loved this! Easy quick read and page turner with lots of twists and secrets!

Every year Alex gets a “happy birthday” from her sister Maddie and even though they have been estranged since their mother’s funeral, Alex knows something is wrong when she doesn’t hear from her. Alex travels to the Hamptons where her sister has been working and discovers that she had been living with the very wealthy Blackwell family before she disappeared. She knows these people are not telling her the whole truth but, she has no idea how dangerous this family really is. I really enjoyed this very twisty, suspenseful story

I really enjoyed this book. It moved at a good pace and kept me invested the whole time. I liked how the chapters were laid out. There are a lot of characters but they are easy to follow in my opinion. Lots of twists and turns, and I highly recommend this one!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for advanced copy, and I give my review freely

Alex and her sister Maddie have grown apart. Alex is still living in the town they grew up in while Maddie has moved away. Maddie did promise to come home every year for Alex’s birthday. This year, though she cancels and when Alex can’t reach her, she is certain that something is very wrong.
She follows Maddie to her last known location in the Hamptons. Soon she discovers that Maddie was staying with the very rich Blackwell family. James, Katherine, Theo, and Lily are the four members of that family and something isn’t right with each of them. Lots of privileged people behaving badly and even some not so privileged ones too.
Multiple POV’s unveil pieces of the story. I have to say, I was worried about Maddie’s fate for most of the book. I did not get to read this one on the beach in the Hamptons unfortunately. It does publish in July though so perhaps you will have that opportunity. It was a really enjoyable outdoor read with an ending that I didn’t see coming.

When I first read the synopsis of this one it sounded like a perfect summer thriller and it totally was! The Hamptons setting, the glitz and glam of the Blackwell family and the missing sister? Yep that all screams summer to me. I enjoyed the back and forth between Maddie in the past and Alex in the present as she basically retraces her sister’s footsteps in order to find her. It was fast paced as Alex realizes nothing is as it seems with anything about the life Alex was living in the Hamptons and there were quite a few twists that took me by surprise. The suspense aspect was solid, I was right there with Alex wanting to know what happened to Maddie and the big reveal made sense with no unnecessary twists just for the sake of them. Overall a solid mystery that kept me on my toes.

This book is a mystery set in Hamptons. Alex, who is desperate to find her sister, travels to the Hamptons after she cannot get a hold of her. She wants to find out what is going on. Alex meets Lily and finds out her sister has been staying with her. Lily is the daughter of a very wealthy family. As Alex digs deeper there is so much more to the story of her lost sister than she could have imagined.
I really liked how the story was told from different view points. It was a good book that overall I enjoyed.

This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Madelyn, "Maddie" and her sister Alex are being raised by their mom after dad leaves. After mom dies, the sisters have a falling out and Maddie heads for the Hamptons. When she fails to call Alex on her birthday and does not respond to texts or phone calls, Alex heads to the Hamptons to look for her. Lots of strange developments and unexpected occurrences happen in this very exciting read with everything leading back to Blackwell Manor.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House/Ballantine Books for the ARC of this very exciting book.

You should judge this book by its cover in a specific way: beach read!

Alex, the m.c., is out searching for Maddie, the titular 'Perfect Sister,' who has gone missing. Though they had a fight, it's not like Maddie to be missing for this long and in this unexpected way, so Alex is out to solve the case. As readers of this genre expect, things aren't as simple as they might appear on the surface. Alex discovers quickly that her sister isn't only missing from her life and that she has had some unusual involvement with a wealthy family in the Hamptons. We all know that where there is excessive money there will often also be outrageous problems and wow do these folks really provide some solid evidence for just that scenario.

At first, I was a little concerned about how many characters were being introduced, but I really appreciated the way they came together by the end. While a practiced reader will put the pieces together successfully in most ways, I was still impressed with the twistiness of the ending. There are some characters who could've used more development and some actions that need more explanation and justification, but overall, this kept me engaged and interested in the outcome (which, transparently, is not always the case for me).

I'll be on the lookout for more from this author.

“I made Alex a promise when she was ten years old that she’d never have to spend her birthday alone, and I’d kept it. Until this year.” Sisters Maddie and Alex share a close bond until Maddie pursues an medical education in NYC, leaving Alex home to look after their mother. Maddie goes to the Hamptons for the summer seeking work to help with her tuition. When Alex’s birthday comes and goes with no word from Maddie, Alex goes to the Hampton to find her sister. This sets off a chain of events that endanger Alex. As events unfold, the suspense builds. She becomes entangled with the wealthy Blackwell family, as had Maddie before her. “The more I’ve learned about Maddie over the last few days, the less it feels like I ever truly knew her.”

This is a story where you keep wanting to tell the characters—no, don’t do that! It’s got good twists, is well-paced, and a good read. Thanks to NetGalley for the advance review copy.

I really enjoyed this book! The ending absolutely shocked me and there were plenty of twists and turns along the way that made me keep turning the page. I really enjoyed reading the relationship dynamic with the sisters too

The Perfect Sister is a very engaging read. DeCarolis uses misdirection in the best possible way. I never knew what was coming and enjoyed the suspense that came with that. As this book wrapped up, I was completely satisfied.

I have mixed feelings about the perfect sister. The story is pretty fast paced and managed to really grab my attention. However, I think the second half slowed down quite a bit and there were some POV's that I wish wasn't included. Once of the twists was pretty good but the others weren't much of a shock like I was hoping for it to be. I'm not really sure if I was expecting too much or what but with how to book was going in the first, I think I expected more of a bang to it.

Solid okay read for me. A little all over the place at times but I liked the premise and how it ended. Also did not expect some of the twists!
