Thank you to NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved The Perfect Sister. There was so much misdirection in this book. I was believing a couple things for the majority of the time, only to find out how wrong I was in the end. Alex and Maddie always spend Alex's birthday together. They had a difficult upbringing, with their father walking out on them when they were young and their mother drinking herself into a different realm because she couldn't handle the stress of never having made much of herself. The girls were poor and neglected, but they had each other. When their mother passed away, Alex resented Maddie for leaving her to care for their mother until the end, and thus, Maddie ended up missing Alex's birthday for the first time ever. That was Alex's first clue that something was wrong. The entire book, we spend with Alex in The Hamptons as she tries to uncover where her sister is, and what has happened to her. This was an attention grabber right from the beginning. Highly recommend.

The Perfect Sister follows a woman's quest to find her missing sister amidst the picturesque sandy beaches of the Hamptons. As she delves deeper into the investigation, she uncovers a web of dark secrets that someone is willing to kill for. This sultry and sumptuous psychological suspense novel had me captivated from the very first page, leaving me eager for more with each turn of the page.

Engaging and fast paced; though written from multiple POV’s, it was never confusing.
It did seem to go a bit “off the rails” around 90 percent, when multiple twists were revealed.
Overall, an enjoyable read.

I am always excited to read a book when there are multiple POVs! This one really spoke to me since I too was raised by a single mom. I was never quite sure where Alex & Maddie's story was heading with The Blackwell family but pushed through! I really loved how things all ended up tying together and getting to the truth!

The Perfect Sister is a dishy thriller revolving around a slew of suspicious family members. I was immediately pulled into the family's world and Alex's quest to figure out where Maddie was. I loved the setting, and the exploration of how wealth can hide the uglier things going on behind closed doors. This is a fun, beachy thriller for fans of multiple POVs and rich people behaving poorly.

Thanks to Random House and Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Alex's older sister Maddie always told her they would spend her birthdays together, but now Maddie is nowhere to be found on Alex's birthday and even though they had a falling out at their mother's funeral, she expected to hear from Maddie. So, Alex goes to the Hamptons to try to find Maddie and finds that she had been staying in the pool house of a very rich family that all seem to have secrets.

3.5 stars.

This book is told from many points of view. The main POV is Alex, but you also have all 4 of the family members and Maddie from before her disappearance. I felt like the family member POV's were thrown in so that each of them could have inner monologues about the fact that they are hiding something so that we could be suspicious of all of them. I was interested in the disappearance and the truth behind it, but I was a little annoyed with all of the sinister family members and they seemed a bit underdeveloped as characters. The wrap up made sense and it worked. Overall it was a decent quick read and I would consider reading more from this author.

I really enjoyed this. It had so many twists that I didn’t see coming. It had good pacing and I would never have guessed how it all turned out.

Read this if you like:
-twist after twist that keeps you guessing
-multiple perspectives
-fancy Hamptons setting
-sisterly love
-books that keep you on the edge of your seat
-endings that are as happy as can be in the situation for the main character

I enjoyed the last 25% of this book when it finally got to the details of what was happening but it took way too long to get there for me. The author should have worked on building the characters a little better. I found it hard to keep interested because the author didn't give me anything to be invested in. Sure I was concerned for the sister but not as much as I probably should have been. Overall it's an okay story but I won't be able to recall it in a month or so. I don't recommend this one. I hope the author has done some editing also to fix all the typos. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgallery for the advanced copy. I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

There are plenty of unexpected twists and a solid conclusion. The story is entertaining and clever. I struggled to get through this one, however, because it felt a bit forced. Not enough discovery and too much of a leading hook from the characters. I'm not sure if it was the way it was written ... jumping from each character in a first person point of view ... or if it was just too early in the authors career to properly develop the story. I really enjoyed the plot, just struggled with the delivery.

Maddie and Alex never had a perfect life - in fact, it was far from perfect.

It continued to not be perfect after their mother died. The sisters had an argument and went their separate ways, but Maddie would never miss Alex's birthday no matter what. Alex knew something was wrong.

Alex made a trip to the Hamptons to the house Maddie was staying in, but when she arrived she wasn't there.

The family who allowed her to stay in the guest house was very surprised when they saw her. They thought it was Maddie.

Maddie stayed at the house while she looked for her sister, but something wasn't right?

What will happen?

Will Alex find her sister?

Will Alex be comfortable there?

Will Alex be safe there?

Had Maddie been safe there?

And where was Maddie?

A tense, skillfully crafted story that started out slowly but is well worth continuing for the unexpected twists that will have your jaw dropping. 4/5

Thank you to Net Galley, Bantam Publishers and the author, Stephanie DeCarolis, for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Maddie and Alex are sisters that grew up close. They were raised by a single mother who has recently passed. When Maddie cancels plans for Alex’s birthday and then stops responding to texts, Alex begins to worry.

Alex heads to the Hamptons where her sister was working searching for answers. She meets the Blackwell family. Maddie had been staying in their pool house, They all seem spooked by Alex who resembles Maddie. They agree to let her also stay in the pool house while she searches for her sister.

I wanted to know what happened to Maddie, but found the pacing of this book slow.

Maddie and Alex are sisters. They are very close after being left when they were young by their father and their Mom recently passed away. Alex has a birthday coming up and Maddie candles plans to celebrate with her which worries Alex. Maddie is hard to get ahold of and Alex follows her sisters footsteps to a seaside resort town and meets the Blackwell family who offered their oook house to Maddie. The Blackwell family has a lot of secrets. Will Maddie be found? Why did she leave? Did the Blackwells have anything to with any of it? There was was a lot of backstory that I found a bit much and not necessary. I did find myself wanting to know what happened which had me reading and intrigued.

The Perfect Sister is a compelling read that combines a solid plot, interesting characters, and a stunning setting of the Hamptons. The multiple POV structure is handled well, providing a comprehensive view of the unfolding drama. I enjoyed learning more about each family member through their POV and I liked the “flashbacks” where you directly from the missing sister. The twist at the end is particularly satisfying – a clever reveal that ties together the intricate threads of the story. This is a great summer read that will have you flipping pages to unravel the mystery!

The Perfect Sister is the perfect summer beach read for people who love thrillers. The different points of view worked really well in this book and I loved how the reader got to see the emotions behind all of the character’s actions, even if we were kept guessing on the context behind them until the end! I felt like it was wrapped up a bit fast in the last few pages, but overall it was a satisfying ending!

The Perfect Sister by Stephanie DeCarolis follows the story of Alex as she searches for her sister Maddie. The search brings Alex to the Hamptons and the home of the Blackwells where Maddie was last staying. However, the Blackwells are clearly hiding something. Beneath the lies, will the truth emerge about where Maddie is?

This story was told in multiple POV's and had flashbacks to Alex and Maddie's childhood. Alot of the flashbacks were confusing at first and felt like unnecessary filler. I never felt like I wanted to stop reading the book, but I never felt truly invested in any of the characters.

I would recommend this book to people who enjoy quick reads with questionable characters.

Happy Reading!

I wanted to love this book but I found myself feeling bored for most of it. While there were many interesting elements to this story (money, sex, murder), nothing seemed to happen for the first 2/3s of the book.

I really enjoyed this one. This isn’t an author I’ve read before or possibly one I would choose but I got invited to read this one and went for it. This has MULTPILE POVs, which I don’t mind but it got a bit confusing as they were all in the first person. Other than that, I loved the setting in the Hamptons and so many of the characters were unlikable yet likable at the same time? It definitely kept me guessing and fully engrossed. This is a great beach/pool read. And it releases July 16th so it’s perfect timing!

My second novel by Stephanie DeCarolis and once again she knocks it out of the park. This story was woven with the backdrop of fiercely loyal sisters. Although time has put distance between them there is no doubt of their bond. For me it was a very intense read with big emotions lurking around every corner. No doubt sibling rivalry at its best and worst. Really enjoyed it.
