Alex & Maddie Walker are sisters. Maddie has always looked up to her sister. Alex got out of their hometown and put the memories of their childhood behind her. They have always had a pact to spend a week together each summer. This year is different, Alex doesn't show up. Now Maddie must find her sister and answer the question of where is Alex?

Although I didn't feel like The Perfect Sister kept me on the edge of my seat, I still enjoyed it. I found the multiple POVs to work well with this plot, and there were some twists and turns I did not see coming. It felt slow at the start, but picked up steam pretty quickly. I did not see the ending coming and felt it was crafted well.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Bantam for providing me with an advance e-galley of this book in exchange for an honest review. Look for it now in your local and online bookstores and libraries.

I was drawn to the book by the beautiful cover. I love driving through the Hamptons on my way to Montauk.
Alex and Maddie are sisters who only have each other. When Maddie disappears, Alex races to the Hamptons to find out what happened to her sister.
This story had tons of twists and turns and it did not end the way I thought it would! Many thanks to the author, Random House Publishing and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

"The Perfect Sister" by Stephanie DeCarolis is a gripping and atmospheric psychological suspense novel. The story follows Alex Walker as she searches for her missing sister Maddie in the glamorous yet deceptive Hamptons. Maddie, who seemed to have the perfect life after leaving their troubled past behind, suddenly stops returning calls, prompting Alex to investigate.
Alex's journey takes her into the world of the Blackwell family, who appear to have everything—wealth, beauty, and a stunning mansion. However, as Alex digs deeper, she discovers that their perfect facade hides dark secrets and potential dangers.
The setting of the Hamptons adds a unique vibe to the story, with its mix of luxury and hidden troubles. While the plot is generally engaging, there are moments when the pacing slows down, particularly in the middle. Despite this, the twists and the exploration of sibling relationships keep the book intriguing.
"The Perfect Sister" is a captivating read with themes of family loyalty and hidden truths. It's perfect for fans of psychological suspense who enjoy a good mystery with complex characters. A solid 4-star book that keeps you hooked until the very end!

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I did enjoy most of this book but not the ending. I definitely felt like it was rushed and some of the storyline was just too far fetched. It did have a few twists and the characters were all strong but I stopped enjoying it when I got to about 75 percent.

I enjoyed this thriller by Stephanie DeCarolis. It takes place in The Hamptons, and I don't think I will ever get tired of the "rich people drama" trope.
In this story, you get multiple POVs, but the main POV is Alex. She is looking for her sister that has gone missing in The Hamptons. While trying to find her sister, she discovers that her sister was living in the pool house on an estate owned by a rich and powerful family. In an effort to find her sister, Alex uncovers secrets that this family is trying desperately to protect.
I felt like this book was an average thriller. Some of the twists were predictable, but I did not predict the ending. The ending was great, but I wish that more of the book held the same intensity and shock factor as the ending.

Alex's sister Maddie has gone missing in the Hamptons. In her search for her sister, Alex ends up at the Blackwell family's beachside mansion. On the surface, things look perfect in the Blackwell household but it seems like everyone is hiding secrets about Maddie.
I started out reading this one, and it just really couldn't keep my interest--I did not really care for how the book read, I think? So I switched over to the audio version and I LOVED it. This book was definitely written to be listened to. I'm glad I switched over because I don't know that I would have ever finished it just reading it.
It's a pretty standard thriller of the "rich people behaving badly" trope. Maddie and Alex grew up super poor, and they're grappling with their mother's death when Maddie goes radio silent. Alex discovers she's been living in a ridiculously rich mansion in the Hamptons, and enter the Blackwells. Distant mother, absent father, playboy bad boy brother with well connected friends, and the shy younger sister. These characters all came with their own issues--Dad can't seem to keep his hands to himself, and Mom likes their lifestyle too much to divorce him. And they all have secrets as to why Maddie disappeared--and some of them are EXPLOSIVE. I almost didn't catch the big twist, and since I read a lot of thrillers, that's kind of a big deal to me. It's like everything I knew was a lie! Everyone lies!
This is a good beach read type thriller.

I did enjoy the mystery of figuring out what happened to her Maddie. There were so many characters that were suspicious and multiple motives that this one was a little convoluted. The ending makes sense once everything unfolded but it was a lot.
The story had multiple POV which in some way made it more confusing. There was just too many views and the unknown narrator that made it a little worse. With many views of characters it was hard to latch un to one and instead it makes you surface level connect to all of them.
In the end it was a good story, however, it wasn't edge of my seat suspense.
Thank you to Random House Publishing and Netgalley for this free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really struggled to get into this one. I finished it, but was hesitant to continue on. It just felt so far fetched and the actions of the sister were head scratches. I wanted to yell at the sister to stop being dumb. You know it 90’s scary movies when the characters are doing stupid things and you just want to yell at them? This is the book version. Overall I couldn’t get into it. My thanks to the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

A family drama involving two families. Lots of different points of view. I kind of wish it had been condensed into fewer narrators, especially since most of them were kind of unlikeable. I did like how glimpses into the past were included though, as told as memories from the narrators. It gave more insight into who everyone was than in the present.

Review of The Perfect Sister by Stephanie DeCarolis
The Perfect Sister is a gripping psychological suspense set against the picturesque backdrop of the Hamptons. The story follows Alex Walker as she searches for her missing older sister, Maddie, uncovering dark secrets along the way. The novel offers a tantalizing mix of mystery and intrigue, with a plot that keeps you guessing until the end.
Stephanie DeCarolis weaves a compelling tale of family secrets and deception. The contrast between the seemingly perfect life of the wealthy Blackwell family and the reality beneath the surface adds a layer of complexity to the story. If you enjoy suspenseful thrillers with a touch of glamour, this book is a must-read. It’s a page-turner that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
*** I received an ARC of this book. Thank you!

A desirable beach setting thriller in the Hamptons where a sister shacks up with the family her missing sister was supposedly working for to retrace her steps and solve her disappearance. Multiple POVs, dual timelines, and a mysterious unknown POV set this up to be quite a page-turner. It seemed that everyone had a secret potentially linked to the missing sister and I did want to see the mystery resolved. I think there were some unbelievable twists that prevented this from being a 5 star read for me, but overall, it was well-written and satisfied my destination beach thriller itch.

Wow this book is great time for a beach or summer read. The plot and the twist in this book had me double guessing on who it was and the ending I never thought it was going to happen like that. I'm just blown away at the ending. Can't wait to read more from this author.

As far as mysteries go, this was interesting. I would've loved to see more character development from the Blackwell family as well as more perspectives. Some pieces of this book were a bit hard to believe but overall a good beach read!

Was touch and go for a minute… I was concerned with how many POVS there were but this turned out to be a great read. Loved the ending.

Although their lives have taken different paths and despite the fact they argued at their mother's funeral months earlier, Alex is shocked when her sister, Maddie, cancels their planned birthday get together. And when Maddie stops returning Alex's calls and texts she is certain something must be wrong. So she tracks her down to the Hamptons, where Maddie was working for the summer. She takes up residence in the Blackwells' pool house, as Maddie had done. But despite their wealth and flawless home design, it is obvious the Blackwells are troubled.
Was Maddie having an affair with Mr. Blackwell? Why is Lily so weird? And Mrs. Blackwell seems like she's hiding something. As Alex probes beneath the veneer of the lives of the wealthy Hamptons residents, she discovers more secrets than she anticipated, but will they lead her to her sister?
This novel has a contemporary setting, but still has some definite Gothic undertones. Although that's one of my favorite genres, some of the setting and events seemed a bit contrived to me. But it was still an entertaining, distracting read, with characters the reader cares about, even if they are deeply imperfect. #ThePerfectSister #NetGalley

This book had me hooked from the beginning. I was intrigued as Alex looked for her missing sister. I did figure out the ‘twist” with the Blackwells if it was supposed to be one. Solid story and my first from this author but I will definitely read more!
