I'm going through the books on my list and reviewing the ones I can get my hands on, and I was able to get a copy of The Vampire Underground. I was very interested in the description of it, but unfortunately I had to add it to my DNF pile. I requested it back in 2012 when times were probably different but I was disturbed by the discriminatory language the school aged kids were using. For example, they kept calling Anaya fat, repeatedly.

"This is Anaya we're talking about, right? The fat chick?"
Brin glared at him. "Classy, Ash. You know ... fat people are people, too."
"I agree. But she's not fat. She's enormous. She's Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor times infinity."
"Classy and a retard."

I'm sorry, but I wasn't able to keep reading when it kept happening over and over. Like I said, it was 11 years ago, so it probably wasn't considered as bad back then as it is now. Unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable leaving a review for that reason. I feel like it could be prejudicial.

Thank you, though, for the opportunity to read and review The Vampire Underground.
