At first I wasn’t the biggest fan of the main characters because they seemed too dysfunctional together, but after a while they started to grow on me and from then on I actually enjoyed the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a 3.5 stars rounded up, and only for the gays to be honest. I loved the artwork and coloring and the concepts were awesome but the dialogue and stuff was really hard to get around. I don't think English was the author's first language and it definitely came across in the book. Normally, translations or works written by somebody who had a different first language than English doesn't bother me so much but the dialogue was so choppy that I frequently had to take a moment to re-read some of it to make sense of it. I also found some major typos, so I hope the publishers review this book a bit more before final publication.

Other than that, Wolfpitch is a fun, cute, gay, and quick read!

Cute art and interesting concepts, but it felt underdeveloped. This applies to the romance as well, which shifts strongly and rather abruptly.

Thank you so much to Netgalley for an e-ARC of this graphic novel! I loved this so much, I was immediately drawn in by the illustration style, which is super cool and unique, as well as the gorgeous colors used throughout. I especially noticed that the illustrator was amazing at encapsulating the emotions and personalities of the characters with their facial expressions. The cast of characters was also extremely diverse, with lots of representation (queer, disabled, POC, etc.) which I always love to see, and all of them had a comprehensive and sufficiently explained backstory, something I feel is often lacking in graphic novels. There were also some adorable and creative additions to the story which I thought made it super fun to read, like Geraldine being a ghost made of milkshakes! The only thing I did not like was that the romance felt a bit rushed to me; at the beginning, I loved the enemies-to-lovers hate-hookup that was happening, however afterwards it seemed like Delilah and Izzy were completely in love despite not talking to each other about their feelings or anything after hooking up. I just wish this aspect was explored a bit more, but still I really really loved reading this and give it 5/5 stars!!

Izzy’s a bass-playing werewolf. Geraldine’s a ghost and jazz pianist. Delilah’s the meanest drummer in town. Supernatural girl band? Sign me up!

This was a fun and quick read with amazing art and the adorable character designs. I am usually a big fan of enemies-to-lovers trope but I personally feel like that happened way too fast in this book. I hadn't even really considered them in a relationship when they were kissing on the page in front of me and I was like huh wait what? Though I do acknowledge the fact that this is a comic and it's nearly impossible to have such "deep" storyline as you can have in a novel. Deep is not the word I want to use but it's the only word I can come up with at the moment and I think that is alright because English is not my first language.

The characters are nice but personality wise I really didn't like any of the main characters that much. The side characters were a lot more interesting to me.

In conclusion, fun romcom but just not the right book for me. I am sure a lot of other people will absolutely love this one though!

And also a slight spoiler ahead as it's not mentioned in the description:

Izzy is hard of hearing!! yayy!! we love representation! I have multiple people in my life with hearing loss on various degrees and it's always so nice to see it on a page. Will be definitely recommending this for them!

Wolfpitch was quick to read and even quicker to love. I always love to see disability rep in books, especially queer ones and I really enjoyed Geraldine being made out of milkshakes. It was a fun touch and it saved them in the end. Thank you to the author for writing this and to Netgalley and Top Shelf Productions for giving me access to an early copy of this book :)

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC of Wolfpitch by Balazs Lorinczi!

This was a cozy graphic novel about an unlikely trio that get together to form a band worthy of winning battle of the bands.

I really loved the way the artist used colour in this graphic novel, the blues, pinks, yellows and greys were really fantastic.

I enjoyed Wolfpitch, a lovely read for this bank holiday weekend.

Get this. Buy it. Read it. This was soooooo good and funny. Not just beautifully queer, the way they had a sudden disability narrative around internalised ableism and handled it well made my little disabled queer heart bounce with joy. Yes!!!! I will be hounding my friends to read it. If you hear about the gay agenda being promoted, and why we always rub people's noses in our gayness... they're talking about me promoting this book everywhere.

Wolfpitch is a light fun fantasy for teens! There are a lot of diverse women and LGBTQIA+ representation in this graphic novel. The characters are all unique and have their own issues they are dealing with while coming together to make music. Also, a milkshake ghost? Say no more. I loved that the characters were strong but still vulnerable in different ways and they were each relatable. The three main characters have so much personality and none of them have to take a backseat to let another one shine. The story focuses a lot on building relationships, whether friendship or something more, and on the importance of communication. The musical aspect brings the story to life and is really fun plus the artwork and coloring are beautiful. Overall, it's a very cute graphic novel for teens and young adults that I think would be a great addition to any collection.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a digital ARC from IDW Publishing | Top Shelf Productions via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was extremely cute. There were definitely some parts where I thought they were just being ridiculous and the wolf was very obnoxious. I also thought we didn't give much depth to the villain of the story other than... jealousy? It feels a little ridiculous for them to be so distraught over their band. I think with a little more background on their relationships to them would have helped solidified the why behind sabotaging them on stage. I did love the fighting scene and when they kissed tho - 10/10.

Wolfpitch is so cute. It’s a cute and band formation story with a little sapphic romance sprinkled in for good measure. Izzy, Delilah, and Geraldine are lovable characters with great backstories. There is also some disability rep in here as well.

This was such a cozy and fun YA graphic novel! It was a fun time to read and I loved all the characters. I would definitely read more stories in the universe. I loved the art style and coloring as well. Highly recommended.

This was a short, relaxing read. I love reading comics when I get the chance to, so I was really looking forward to this.

I loved the art style and the character designs. However, their personalities were a whole different story. I was glad they weren't flat or anything, but at some point they were actually a bit... too much, in my opinion.

The thing is, it was way too short for the story to actually flower. The romance was extremely fast for a "enemies to lovers" as some described it. I got the whole "I hate you" part and they both had their good motives for disliking each other, but then the romance came in suddenly and fast, with little to no preparations. It's not entirely a bad thing, but personally I like slow burns. However, as an artist, I get how time consuming making a comic is, so I don't blame at all the author for making the romance so fast. I just wish that perhaps it started in another moment.

In conclusion, I felt like this fell a little flat. It was a cute romcom, but that's about it. While I generally love a fluffy comic, I just didn’t connect to this one.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and also North Star Edition for giving me the opportunity to read this book in advance!

Loved the LGBT AND DISABILITY REPROSENTATION. Quick and enjoyable read. Would definitely read more books by this author.

IDW getting into the GN market is really cool to see. My big issue with GN’s is that there’s always something missing. Either it’s the story not feeling complete or the art not translating to the format. And while I’m not too keen on the story, the art was consistently great, and the characters were lovable and endearing. While I wish there was more, there was a beginning , middle, and end. Also as a Hispanic/Latino person it was cool seeing a Spanish Werewolf lol.

I received a free review copy of this book from NetGalley.

Wolfpitch is a graphic novel that follows a werewolf bassist trying to start a band after getting kicked out of her old band because her wolf hearing makes her “difficult to work with.”

This was a quick and fun read! Lorinczi does a great job fleshing out the world and characters in a short period of time. And I loved the art in this book so much! The colour palette, in particular, is very pleasing to the eye.

My only complaint is that I wish it were longer! I’d love to see more of these characters in the future!

I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, lighthearted read, especially if you’re a fan of monsters, music, and queer stories.

This was such a fun read! The plot pace was perfect and the story was so fun. A werewolf, a genius drummer, and a ghost sustained by milkshakes end up forming a band together. This story had a great blend of silly and serious and tackled difficult topics gracefully. I also enjoyed the art style! It leans to the cartoony side, but the page flow is wonderful. It was easy for me to read, and the limited color palette added some unique elements to the art style.
