This was a sweet, fun, romantic book. Great for a beach read. I loved the small town romance. The characters were fun, and the story was sweet.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. The cover is very deceiving. I thought it would be a beachy read, but it was not. It is false advertising.

Berkley has found a home with her dog, Hero, and her cat, Cheese, in Cemetery, Indiana, running The Love Shack, the local animal shelter. Berkley has overcome a painful past and scandal when people found out about her relationship with a local celebrity's husband. Lawson has settled in Cemetery opening a popular t-shirt business after traveling the world with a construction company seeing a lot of good and bad. Berkley and Lawson are shocked to see each other after growing up in the same poor neighborhood in Kentucky. Sparks fly between Berkley and Lawson. Will Berkley and Lawson overcome their past and embrace the love and future they could have together? Can Lawson protect Berkley from someone from her past? I loved The Love Shark by Lori Foster. Berkley and Lawson are a great couple with amazing chemistry. I love how they learn to trust each other and open their hearts to each other. I love how Berkley and Lawson put roots down, form relationships, and become part of the community. Betty Cemetery is a hoot. Betty is pushy, caring, nosy, loyal, and a good friend to Berkley. I was fascinated by the relationship that developed between Oliver, who opened the new fitness spa, and Lark, the new stylist in town. It is great to see these two couples become really close friends. I would highly recommend getting The Love Shack and the other books in the Indiana Summers series by Lori Foster. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

The Love Shack is is everything you want in a small-town romance—heartfelt, charming, and packed with adorable animal antics! As the third book in the Indiana Summers series, it brings readers right back to Cemetery, Indiana, where love, community, and a little bit of meddling are always in the air.

Berkley Carr is all about saving animals, not making small talk—but her cat clearly has other ideas. After moving to Cemetery to start fresh with The Love Shack Animal Haven, she finds herself constantly running into (or rather, being pushed toward) Lawson Salder, thanks to her troublemaking feline and a very devoted dog. Lawson has spent years proving he’s moved past his humble beginnings, but Berkley’s arrival has him rethinking everything—especially once the town busybodies start playing matchmaker. This book has it all—quirky side characters (including a mysteriously relocated mannequin), a town full of personality, and a romance that’s both sweet and slow-burning with just the right amount of sparks. Foster weaves together humor, heartfelt moments, and a touch of suspense, making it impossible to put down. And let’s not forget the real scene-stealers—the pets! They add so much charm and chaos that you’ll wish you could adopt them yourself.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of the series or diving into Cemetery for the first time, The Love Shack is the perfect feel-good read!

The Love Shack by Lori Foster is a delightful romance that combines heartwarming moments with a good dose of small-town charm. Berkley Carr, owner of The Love Shack Animal Haven, has spent years trying to escape the shame of her past, while Lawson Salder, her handsome but distant neighbor, is equally haunted by his own history. Both are determined to avoid one another, but the town of Cemetery, Indiana, and its matchmaking residents have other plans.

Foster masterfully crafts a story about two people who are drawn together despite their best efforts to stay apart. Berkley and Lawson’s pasts are filled with emotional scars, but their undeniable chemistry and mutual healing make their slow-burn romance both tender and compelling. The small-town setting adds a delightful touch, with quirky characters who playfully nudge the couple toward their happily ever after.

What really makes The Love Shack stand out is its focus on overcoming past trauma and learning to trust in love again. As Berkley and Lawson begin to confront their emotional baggage, their relationship blossoms in a way that feels both authentic and satisfying. With humor, heart, and a perfect mix of sweet and steamy moments, The Love Shack is an enjoyable read for anyone who loves a feel-good romance with a bit of depth.

5 star

The story has secrets, laughs, and heartbreak.

This is Berkley and Lawson's story. Berkley is moving forward with her life. She loves her animals and is making sure she is concentrating on that. Lawson feels a pull to Berkley right from the monet that see each other but is going to fight it. But with all the people in town pushing them together will he be able to fight the pull? They both have a past and keep that past close. The wounds are still open. Will they be able to overcome the past and move forward together? Or will everyone just be disappointed?

I highly recommend this book.

Another cute read in this series. Berkeley and Lawson knew each other years ago. They are from the same small town. They both are trying to escape memories from that town, so running into each other was not a happy surprise. Berkeley and Lawson were looking for fresh starts…what they are not expecting was to have a fresh start with each other. This is another sweet read in this fun series. Cemetery is a quirky town with people who love living there. The town mascot is a mannequin named Kathleen. People love putting Kathleen all over town in silly situations. Of course in Lori Foster fashion we have not only an amazing love story but we meet the amazing side characters. These characters have larger than life personalities and we love them just as much as the main characters. I really am enjoying this series and this book was no exception. The slow burn was worth the wait and the banter was laugh out loud funny. I’m excited to see what Lori brings us next.

This was a very fun summer book. Settled in a small touristy town lies friendships and love that will last forever. Four new people have moved into town starting business and trying to understand some of the quirky small town ways. Berkley is determined to run the dog rescue and stay away from most of the townspeople. That was her plan until she ran into a person from her past she would rather forget. Lawson saw her and knew that this town was the best place for him to settle. Having Berkley there just made it even better. They get to know each other through her funny dog and cat. You will fall in love with these characters and laugh along the way. I was given a copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I’ve read by Lori! And it was a cute book! Berkeley and Lawson end up running into each other and start dating. I loved the story and the characters! Although I found it to be a little slow, I would still recommend this book, especially if you want to read about sweet love story! Thank you NetGalley, Lori and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC!

Loved The Love Shack!
What are the odds of two people moving to the same town unknowingly, to escape their past tho for different reasons, yet still very much connected.
Berkley finds all the love and solace in her fur babies, along with town matriarch Betty Cemetery, at her Animal Shelter known as The Love Shack.
Lawson can't seem to stay away from Berkeley. Their past really collides when strangers show up, and there's truly a big heart in Betty Cemetery.
A well written small town romance with humor, quirkiness, drama, heat, and a very happy ending for more than just these two.
I was given an ARC by the author, opinions and thoughts are all my own.

Love, love, love this book! I am such a big fan of Lori Foster's other books in the Indiana Summers Series and I knew I would be a huge fan of this one as well!

I love Foster’s books. This one had multiple storylines and an intense amount of detail. I really like the town and animal aspects but there was so much information.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Berkley and Lawson. They have known each other for all their lives. When Lawson was twenty he left home and traveled. Berkley has recently got a new job running an animal shelter. One day in town she comes across Lawson, who runs a print shop. They start dating. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

Loved Berkley and Lawson's story.
Two kids from same town, growing up in rough family dynamics. Berkley helped care for sickly mother and Lawson escaping the hard life of his families poor decisions.
When Berkely moves to Cemetary, she is looking for a new start.
The town matriarch Betty has taken Berkley under her wings.
Berkley runs The Love Shack per shelter. Berkley has a kind heart and a love for all those rescues that need a forever home.
Lawson has been in Cemetary and runs a tshirt shop and has found this place is just the home he has always wanted. When he reconnects with Berkley, all the memories of how much she meant to him.
Berkley and Lawson share the past stories and find what they have in common, and find the attraction.
Cemetary is a place where we all want to escape to, a place where all are accepted, a place to find love and family.

Although this one lacked a little substance for me, I really enjoyed the setting and the rescue animal aspects. It was a sweet romance, with some fun characters helping our couple along the way.

I think this book was such a cute read, but it just wasn’t for me. I loved getting to know more about each character and the back stories that they had to get to Cemetery, Indiana. However, it was a bit too slow pacing wise for my taste. there was about 20 to 30% of the book that I was a little bit too much for fluff and I was finding myself setting the book down more often than not.

I would definitely still recommend this book to others if they’re looking for a lighthearted romance read.

Set in the quaint town of Cemetery, Indiana, the story follows the intertwined lives of Berkley Carr and Lawson Salder.

Berkley, the owner of The Love Shack Animal Haven, is determined to move past a scandal from her youth, while Lawson, her neighbor, seeks solace from a troubled childhood.

Despite their efforts to avoid each other, their paths keep crossing, thanks to the meddling yet well-meaning townsfolk. As they navigate their emotional baggage and past hurts, the power of community and support becomes evident.

Foster’s engaging and heartfelt writing brings depth to the characters and their journey of healing, love, and forgiveness. This charming and heartwarming read is perfect for fans of romance and small-town charm.

I found this story to be very fun. The main character runs an animal shelter, so there are so many cute situations with animals going on. She also lost her mom at a young age & one of the older ladies in the town becomes a mother figure to her and their relationship was beautiful.
I loved that part of this town’s traditions is that they have a mannequin that they move all over town into random positions, clothing, etc. That plays an interesting and funny role in the story.
I actually enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. A very lighthearted read. Would be a great beach book or one to read on a flight.
