Cemetery is always such a fun town to visit. The characters always make me laugh and I love how they all interact with Kathleen. Betty is the grandma of all and while she runs the town with an iron fist it seems she knows how to have fun. Lawson and Berkeley may have their issues but they are perfect for each other.

In “The Love Shack” (Indiana Summers Series #3) by Lori Foster we get to know Berkley, the owner of the new animal shelter in Cemetery and Lawson, the owner of the custom tee shirt store. They have a past that both are running from but avoiding each other is impossible. As they become closer their past catches up to them and they just might need to bring in reinforcements.

There are plenty of antics – between a thieving cat, an overprotective dog and Kathleen (who Lawson is not a fan of). Plus, throw in some well-loved friends (new and old) and you have a fun read with a little bit of everything.

I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion.

The Love Shack is the story of 2 soon to be couples in a beach town. They meet (or re-meet in one case) and fall in love. There's some comedic relief in the form of the town mannequin's escapades.

I would say this is a pretty formulaic closed door romance. I freely admit that this is a 'me thing,' but it felt like there was some gratuitous trauma. the formula for each of the 4 main romantic leads is 1) be afraid to reveal your trauma because you'll be judged for it, 2) reveal your trauma to your love interest, 3) be miraculously healed, 4) fall in love. The repetition of this pattern multiple times left me feeling like there was little other character or relationship development.

Thank you to Lori Foster and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Love Shack, which is the third book in the Indiana Summers Series, was an easy, fun beach read. I enjoyed all the characters and the quirkiness of the town. This closed door, small town romance involves two people who are new to town who happen to share the same difficult past. An enjoyable read.

"The Love Shack" by Lori Foster is a charming and heartwarming story about two people, Berkley Carr and Lawson Salder, who are trying to overcome their past and find love. Berkley, who runs The Love Shack Animal Haven, is haunted by a scandal from her youth, while Lawson has moved to Cemetery, Indiana, to escape the poverty of his childhood. Despite their past, they find it hard to ignore the attraction they feel for each other.

The book is a delightful blend of romance, humor, and animal welfare. Lori Foster has created a vivid and charming setting in Cemetery, Indiana, and the characters are well-developed and relatable. The love story between Berkley and Lawson is sweet and romantic, and it is heartening to see them overcome their past hurts and embrace the love they deserve.

The book is a quick and easy read, perfect for a lazy afternoon or a weekend getaway. It is a great reminder that sometimes, the past can hold us back, but with a little courage and determination, we can move forward and find love. Overall, "The Love Shack" is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a feel-good romance with a touch of humor and animal welfare."

Very enjoyable book! You can always count on Lori Foster to deliver a funny, sweet, romantic plot with a little bit of drama. All the things I love most - substance with my romance.

This book is about Berkley who runs the new animal shelter in the town of Cemetery. In general, Berkley is pretty solitary and closed off. She was burned in the past by a scandal that still haunts her a bit even though in all reality she was the victim. When she finds out someone from her past lives in Cemetery also, she is immediately wary. Lawson, however, knows Berkley was a victim and feels bad he didn't do more back in the day. He was two years older than her and had his own problems growing up with deadbeat parents and trying to escape their small town. Now though, Lawson sees Berkley for who she is - a strong, beautiful and independent woman. He is immediately drawn to her despite her hesitation. Enter a protective dog who tries to save everyone, a cat that steals things, a mannequin that mysteriously keeps showing up and a busy body octogenarian and you have a story that is just full of hilarity and surprises. When Berkley's past tries to come back to cause problems, everyone steps in to make sure she knows she is not alone and loved.

Great read. Would definitely recommend. I love the humor and connection you feel with the characters. Plus the romance.

The Love Shack by Lori Foster would make a perfect beach read. It’s a story that you connect with immediately. This is a story of starting over and understanding that friends are the family we choose. It’s about a community looking out for it’s people and taking care of one another. Berkley is starting over and hoping the scandal she is leaving in her past does not find her. She is making her way in Cemetery running The Love Shack an animal shelter when she runs into someone from her past, Lawson. At first she is worried about what someone from her past could mean but soon their love story is a beautiful thing to read! I also love the relationship between Berkley and Betty. I found myself cheering for all of the new romances and friendships. This was a great book and I am looking forward to reading more by Lori Foster.

The story is about Berkley and Lawson in Cemetery, Indiana. They've both been through tough times and become friends over their shared past in another town. They move to Indiana to start fresh. I liked how the story is set in a small town where everyone knows each other. There's even a funny joke about a town mannequin.

But I had a hard time with how the main characters deal with their problems. They've been hiding their pain for years and haven't talked to anyone about it. Berkley especially lets her past control her life. So is she really okay? Some parts of the story seem unbelievable. Also, there's a lot of unnecessary stuff that drags on for pages.

It would have been better if the story switched between different times. That could have helped explain their past better.

Thank you to netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

We also have Lark and Oliver who have their own troubled past. There are Fantastic animals and Betty Cemetery who manages everyone. All I know is I would love to live in Cemetery and have these people as friends.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:

I received an electronic ARC from Harlequin Trade Publishing through NetGalley.
Foster introduces her characters in a style that immediately pulls readers in. She offers hints of what is to come and shows them in a current setting where they are starting to grow. As we return to Cemetary, we'll meet new characters and see how life is progressing for those we've met before. Berkley has some serious scarring from her past but has found her calling running The Love Shack - a local animal shelter in Cemetary. She is starting to get comfortable with the people in town until she runs into Lawson. He knows about her past and all she went through. The two work on their relationship in the present but have to face and process the past to truly move forward.
In counterpoint to their romance, we get to catch up with Lark and meet Oliver. Their story interweaves with Berkley and Lawson as the four learn to trust, build relationships and establish homes. As I started, Foster is a master at unveiling pieces of her characters and adding dimensions that allow for continued growth.
Overseeing everything in Cemetary is the town matron, Betty. I appreciate how Foster has brought out her softer side in each of the connected novels.
Well worth the time to read. This will make a great beach read and leave you cheering for the courage they show to take risks and connect with each other.

This is a beautiful story about 2 young people trying to escape their past only to find themselves living in the same town. After trying to avoid each other, they begin to build a friendship to love relationship while confessing their hardships of the past. Will Berkley and Lawson’s relationship be tested when her past comes back to haunt her? Or…will Lawson and the townspeople she loves help her put her past to bed and finally move on to a future with Lawson unencumbered by her past?

A very funny and entertaining book that I had fun with!
Lots of cool characters including a mannequin named Kathleen lol.
I finished this sweet novel in one evening. Did I lose sleep over it? Yes, I did but so worth it.
I loved that Kentucky was mentioned. I'll be honest that's why I chose thos book and plus the safe haven for dogs and cats.
I liked Berkeley and Lawson. Teo of the coolest people you'll ever meet!
“Remember the hard times? You’ll have more, believe me. Some worse, some not as bad. All are worth remembering for the lessons we learned, or the trials we overcame. You know how strong you are because you got through it and you’re still a wonderful person.
Wow! Such a powerful and true saying.
I'm giving this fun story 5 stars for an excellent read! I highly recommend.
My thanks to Netgalley for a wonderful and fun read. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Stop this book was so cute. I love that they both had issues they needed to deal with but also didnt realize how similar they actually are. Also the dog mom in me loves that she has an animal haven because I want all the animals to be loved. The cover reminds me of a summer novel and I loved it so much I cant wait to read more by this author.

In this stand alone and latest addition to the series, we have four individuals who have moved to Cemetery, Indiana for a new start and end up becoming two couples that find love when they least expect it.
Berkley Carr left behind a scandal that destroyed her self-esteem and faith in men.
Moving was the best thing she could have done since with the help of Betty Cemetery, the town’s matriarch, she has opened the Love Shack Animal Haven . She loves her job and the animals as she gives them unconditional love.
Lawson Salder left his old home and the poverty he grew up in, traveled the world and has now established a new business in town.
Imagine their shock when these two see each other again, after having left their hometown and poverty. But what started out as wanting to ignore each other, changes to something totally different.
The secondary characters Lark and Oliver also have left their past in hopes of starting fresh. Neither expecting that moving to this new town would bring them not only happiness but also love. And let’s not forget Betty Cemetery, who brings humor to the story.
This was a sweet, at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming story about new beginnings, and second chances in life and love. A story that engages the readers from the first page to the last with characters that are well developed.
Another wonderful story by this talented author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is my first ARC review! As good as the book was, and as personable the characters were. This book is just not for me. I am having a hard time paying attention, and cannot get into the book. But I have heard many great things about this author. I know other people will enjoy it. Sometimes a certain book just isn’t for a certain person. I encourage other people to give it a try, as I believe they would enjoy it.

THE LOVE SHACK by Lori Foster. On sale June 11/24

Not the song, but a safe haven for dogs and cats in a place named Cemetery and a safe place for Berkeley, a woman running from her past. In a town where she feels safe, Berkeley runs into Lawson, a guy she knew from her past.

But this town has a habit of embracing its new residents, like Berkeley AND Lawson and just when things start to feel comfortable, Berkeley’s past rears it’s ugly head…

Thank you @canarystreetpress, @htpbooks, and @netgalley for the eARC of The Love Shack by @lorilfoster in exchange for an honest review!

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 What are the chances that two individuals with history from small town Kentucky end up in Cemetery, Indiana? Absolutely minuscule but here Berkley Carr and Lawson Sadler are. It’s hard to escape from a past you hope to erase with a constant reminder around. For Berkley, opening an animal rescue is her hope for a brighter future. Lawson chose traveling the world before settling down as his escape. The Love Shack is an uplifting, hopeful book full of beautiful dreams for the future. One of the most wonderful parts of the books is the acknowledgement of how four legged friends can be one of the most vital and healing companions we could ever have. Perhaps all of life’s problems can be solved with a furry friend and a walk on the beach…

4/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4 people move to the same town for a new beginning for different reasons. They all become major parts of each other’s lives. There are 2 love stories in this book. Stories about new friendship, past trauma, and the family you make.

I found this story to be very cute. The FMC runs an animal shelter, so there are so many cute situations with animals going on. She also lost her mom at a young age & one of the older ladies in the town becomes a mother figure to her and their relationship was beautiful.

Part of this town’s traditions is that they have a mannequin that they move all over town into random positions, clothing, etc. That plays an interesting and funny role in the story.

I actually enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. A very lighthearted read. Would be a great beach book.
