Rarely does a sequel live up to the first book, but Coyote Lost and Found does! Immensely! Gemeinhart is thoughtful, teems with verisimilitude through his 13-year-old protagonist, and covers big, hard emotions that many middle schoolers have to deal with, especially in regards to moving on after the death of a parent. Bravo, Gemeinhart!

Oh how I love Coyote And her adventures. Coyote sunrise is a book. I often recommend to students or fellow book lovers. I was so happy to find out that the author had written another book about her For all to enjoy. These audiobooks are done exceptionally well, and the narrator is a joy to listen to. You can't help, but I have a smile on your face, laugh, out loud, And shed a tear to as you follow coyote and her cast of characters through this book. I loved this one just as much as the last and I hope there are more coyote books to come. If you need a little Sunshine in your life, Go find this Book and give it a read or listen. You definitely won't regret the time spent. Thank you, McMillan audio and NetGalley For the pleasure of listening to the arc of this audiobook. ❤️

I might have a different experience if I had read the first book, but I didn't realize this was a sequel. NetGalley made this audiobook available to me, and I found Coyote to be charming, interesting, and clever. I loved her voice, and I loved the narrator's voice on the audiobook. Coyote has a unique life and relationship with her father, and she is grieving her mother. This probably made her make some choices she might not have, but I could relate to and understand what she was going through, and it even helped me with my current grief journey. Coyote is a true free spirit, and I enjoyed her adventures. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me listen to this

Great found family story. Enjoyed the trip that we go on on the bus. Thanks NetGalley for the audio eArc.

I really enjoyed continuing this series and to see how Rodeo and Coyote's lives has changed since the last book. This was also the first book I have read really that COVID is such a part of which was weird to think this is now a part of everyone's shared history. Overall, It was a well written story that makes you laugh, cry and maybe even cringe (i.e. that Ashes scene I could have gone without.

Clearly, this is a sequel to The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise. You could read and understand this book without knowledge of the other but the background sure helps. Given the set up - traveling cross country on a bus on a time sensitive quest when her father doesn't know all the details - this could easily be a rehash of the first book. But Gemeinhart introduces new elements and characters. Setting the book at the beginning of the pandemic is one of those twists. The world is changing just as Coyote is trying to figure out her place in the world, how to fit in with her peers, and coming to terms with her grief. As with the first book, the journey is funny and heart-breaking in equal measure, showing the reader how the world can be cruel and kind. A solid choice for any middle grade reader.

I absolutely loved The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise, so when I saw that Coyote Lost and Found was coming out, I had to get my hands on an early copy. I was not disappointed.
Coyote Lost and Found had all the big feelings, wonderful moments, and excellent execution of storyline that I hoped it would have. I liked that the story picked up where Coyote Sunrise left off, but that readers didn’t have to read the first book to understand what was going on.
I’ve decided that Dan Gemeinhart is one of my favourite junior authors. He’s right up there with amazing writers like Kate DiCamillo, Lauren Wolk, and Dusti Bowling.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What an absolutely STUNNING book. I loved the first one and was worried this one wouldn’t hold the same weight, but it did and held so much more too. It held the weight of secrets and the weight of long term grief and doing the right or wrong thing in the name of your loved ones. But it also focused on love and friendship and connection and it really was just so beautiful. I’m so grateful to have read something so special.

Coyote gets some of the gang back together for a road trip to say goodbye to her mom. Her father has met a new woman and she has to come to terms with that as well. This sequel was not as hard hitting for me as the original book was. Much of the adventure seemed a bit unreasonable. For example, this happens during covid, and they are stopping at thrift stores (some are open) and going about things as if there was not pandemic (though they mention wearing masks). It was convenient excuse to be able to go on a road trip since Coyote was out of school. Other than that, Coyote is a fun character to follow and I still enjoyed listening to the audiobook.

I adored the first book and was so excited to get more Coyote. She is one of my favorite middle-grade characters.
Nearly a year after Coyote and her dad left life on the road to settle down, Coyote is frantic to return to the road to find a book belonging to her mother. Along the way, the pair find new friends and obstacles. All while learning to move on from the grief that grips them both.
This was so lovely and full of hope. I love Coyote, her boldness and loyalty. She always ends up in the most ridiculous situations, but they work so well with this series. If you love sweet and hopeful middle-grade stories with loads of friendships and coming-of-age moments, I highly recommend it.
Two things to note Lost and Found does take place during the beginning of the pandemic, and some scenes are pandemic-heavy. It does not bother me, but I know some readers are not interested in those storylines.
The audio was fantastic. Khristine Hvam does a fantastic job voicing all the characters.
Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Publishing, and Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Yes! All the feels for syncing up with Coyote and Rodeo again. We go what I would describe as a grief adventure. Coyote finds something that brings the feelings of her mother's death back to surface. We travel around the country during Covid times meeting new characters along the way. I would definitely recommend this book to teens and adults alike!

I was very skeptical of this book going into it, but Dan Gemeinhart did it again. The character his has created with Coyote yanks at my heart strings like no other. I loved the theme of being yourself and being proud of that.

Great sequel. Adventure, love, friendship, loss, grief, and moving on are all themes that repeat throughout this book. The sequel occurs during the first few months of the COVID pandemic, reunites Rodeo, Coyote, and Salvator, and adds new characters to the mix. Loved it.

Coyote, Rodeo, Salvadore, and more are all back and more adventure is ahead! This time, they are taking off again in Yager across the country, on a mission to find a very important piece of Coyote’s history, to help determine a critical piece of her future. To top it off, she must keep this secret from nearly everyone who is along for the ride. Old and new friends come together for this journey, which is just as memorable (if not more) as the first time.
I am not a lover of sequels, but I very much enjoyed this one. When I saw a new book by Dan Gemeinhart was out, I knew I just HAD to read it. It was also incredibly relatable to real life in some aspects because the setting of this was early 2020 and we all know what happened during that time. This is described in the book and is a large part of the plot and lends to how their journey ends.
I hope there will be more Coyote books in the future because I cannot get enough of this quirky, wonderful bunch of characters.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I'll start by saying I don't think the first book really needed this sequel. Coyote Sunrise was perfect the way it was. That being said I'm not mad at this book. This story still had all of the charm of the first book but with some new characters and some solid character growth.
I don't want to say a lot about the actual story since this is a sequel but this was a really heart warming story. Getting to learn more about Rodeo and Coyote before the events of the first book was sweet and heart breaking in place. I also really enjoyed meeting new characters even if the characters in the first book will always be in my heart.
As a whole I was unsure of this book to start but I am glad it exists. This book is charming and heart felt and I can't wait to read the next thing Gemeinhart writes weather thats in this universe or something else.

I wish I could put into words how much I loved this book. First of all, I can’t get enough of Coyote and Rodeo and have been recommending the first book to so many people. I LOVED it. But somehow, I loved this one even more. What a beautiful and emotional story about grief and learning to let go. But also a story about love and finding our people, and the power of gratitude. The narrator did a phenomenal job of bringing Coyote, Rodeo, and the rest of the characters to life. Sometimes I forgot they weren’t real. I recommend this whole heartedly to people of all ages as it truly has something for everyone. Thank you so much to NetGalley for this copy. I absolutely adored it.

This was an amazing follow up to Coyote Sunrise. We once again are on a road trip but this one is a bit different and we have some new people along for the ride and Coyote is not sure that is a good thing. I won't give away the reason for this trip but I am so glad to be along for the ride again!
Gemeinhart again brings so much emotion to the pages and this story will again resonate with anyone no matter their age! This is a great series to listen to with your family just have tissues ready.
Khristine Hvam's narration is so perfect whether she is voicing Coyote, Rodeo or any number of other characters its always perfect!
If your kids aren't reading this author they are missing on some wonderful storytelling.
I don't know if we will get more from Coyote and Rodeo or not but I will read whatever this author puts out!
4 1/2 Stars
I received this audiobook from the publisher Macmillan Audio Macmillan Young Listeners and NetGalley for a fair and honest review.

Dan Gemeinhart’s Coyote Lost and Found features the return of an awesome freaking mess/hero named Coyote and her dad Rodeo and her best friend and three new friends and the world’s best cat and a perfectly fine dog. And her mom, (kinda). Together, the ragamuffin band sets off on a crazy, cross-country quest: a quest with some of the achy-knees-and-sore-back type stuff in it. But a quest that definitely has a lot of the delicious-meals-and-new-friends type stuff in it, too.
A quest that involves finding not just a book but THAT book. That simple, perfect book that once upon a time Coyote’s mom held in her hands and inscribed her words in the gutter of the book where the two pages came together. After driving all day every day and browsing/breaking into thrift stores and dealing with racists and buying sandwiches, Coyote discovers that gone is not lost and lost can be found.
Coyote Lost and Found is about meeting the truth halfway and cleaning up mistakes, caterpillar snot and growing wings, finding luck and choosing gratitude. There’s plenty of sadness and heartache and emotional nausea along the way. But the feeling of a miracle awaits just around the corner.
My favorite character is the school bus Yager. The bus is like life: we are on it together. We weren’t always on it together. And we won’t always be on it together. But we are right now. And that’s pretty freaking awesome. We don’t know about the happily-ever-after. And no one is really actually happy ever after, forever. It’s all ashes eventually. But until we do say goodbye, there’s plenty of time to fly. Coyote Lost and Found is lip balm for your soul.

Coyote Lost and Found touched every emotion. The characters of Coyote and Rodeo continue to surprise and delight the reader. Kids will love to connect with Coyote again as she meets new friends and comes to peace with her own trauma. Dan Gemeinhart has such an amazing story telling style which makes the story irresistible.

What a beautiful story of love in all its forms, adventure, grieving, and redemption. Coyote and Rodeo are back, with a couple old friends, and a few new ones. The adventure continues during the pandemic (no school!) as they travel across the country to spread Coyote’s mother’s ashes. We find that grieving might get easier, but it might never be over, and that you are stronger and better when you’re with the people you love and who love you back.
I unfortunately listened to this while driving and almost felt the need to pull over and let the tears flow. What a stunning job DG did with these characters. I’d get on the bus with Coyote and Rodeo anytime.
