I cannot even begin to describe the love and connection I feel to these characters - when I started listening to this 2nd book in the series, I found myself thinking "Of *course* Coyote would do that" before realizing that Coyote and Rodeo are, in fact, fictional. Dan Gemeinhart has a powerful way with words and despite (gratefully) not experiencing the hardships of Coyote and Rodeo, I feel that they are so relatable and real.

This story is very sad at times as it follows their grief journey in a more open way than the first book, but it was so special to meet their merry band of characters on the road again and read all the little one-liners and deep conversations between those just trying their best to live their lives after the hole broke through the universe and changed a happy family forever.

I finished this off with tears streaming down my face and my daughter (about Coyote's age) felt much the same and really what more can you ask for? The narration is perfect and I just loved everything about this.

I haven't read the first book in this series, The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise, but it was voted the winner of the Rebecca Caudill awards in 2022 so I knew the sequel would be good. What a story! So many hearfelt moments and Dan Gemeinhart skillfully weaves humor into sorrow, and meaning into every interaction. There were so many terrific moments in this book, and I hope it gets read and loved just as much as the first book was. The narrator really embodied Coyote's spirit and made this book that much more of a romp. I loved it!

Coyote Lost and Found is the second book by Dan Gemeinhart featuring the same characters. It is the perfect middle school novel full of heart, whit, and adventure. Coyote Sunrise is a girl that has lost everyone except her father (Rodeo) and they live an unconventional life on the road in their bus (Yeager). The narrator's voice has become the voice of Coyote for me. She really embodies the essence of the characters and the narrative. This novel continues and enduring story that will keep adults and middle schoolers alike engaged until the very last word. I hope that Dan Germeinhart will continue this series!
Thank you Net Galley, Dan Gameinhart, Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to preview this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

I tried to use this forum to post my review to Goodreads automatically but it would not allow me to as it said the ISBN was problematic. So I have manually posted it here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/6314368624

Dan Gemeinhart has done it again. The world of Coyote, Rodeo, and their trusty bus Yager takes readers on yet another emotional cross-country adventure.

To be back with Coyote and Rodeo again equal parts a warm hug and a shattered heart.

I love this father/daughter duo SO much. They are back and this time they are taking a very special road trip to… well… they aren’t sure yet. Coyote may have lost a precious book on their last trip and she is determined to find it so they will know her mother’s wishes for her final resting spot.

I didn’t realize this was going to be set in the height of COVID lockdowns so it brought an even more realistic and stressful layer to the story. But overall my throat was tight with tears for a lot of it. The characters are just so tender and dealing with big grief is a lot.
I love so much that this book exists. I love that middle grade often times takes on big topics and makes them digestible and relatable for all ages. This one is a top favorite for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced listening copy of this book.

A sequel that was every bit as good as the first. The road trip was a great storyline. It is funny, heart warming, engaging and had some small twists. The characters are a delight. Definitely adding to my collection.

*This is my second read of this book (first the ebook and now the audiobook), and I love it even more after listening to the audiobook. Here's my review:

You love Coyote, you say? You're scared that the sequel won't live up to your outrageously high expectations? Stop worrying. It will!

Don't even think about reading this book without reading the first one. Coyote's whole journey is vital - I think - to really connecting with this novel.

This one begins when Coyote makes a surprising discovery: her mother's ashes. Her discovery becomes the impetus for yet another awesome group journey, and like we all expect from these characters, the journey isn't just physical. These characters grow emotionally, and readers can't help but do the same.

Gemeinhart has created such a great character with a strong voice in Coyote, and he does her justice again here. This is a fulfilling sequel, and I hope it's not the only one.

*Special thanks to NetGalley and Henry Holt and Co. (BYR) for this arc, which I received in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.

Coyote and Rodeo's perspective on life is just so refreshing! Could they be any cooler? I enjoyed this sequel more than the first novel. I loved following this duo through their journey. Even as an adult, this book kept my attention and I found the narrator enjoyable. Although this is a sequel, I do think you could read this as a standalone. The author did a nice job of reminding us of key details from the first novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to read this ARC.

A heartfelt middle grade road trip novel that picks up where the last book left off and sees Coyote, her dad, her friend and her dad's new girlfriend retracing their previous journey in search of her mother's missing poetry book. A beautiful story of friendship, love, grief and learning to let go. Coyote is such a memorable protagonist and I really hope there will be more books! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio and digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
