I absolutely loved this book! It's a compilation of short horror stories, with black girls coming out on top and being the final girl. I loved how some stories included black culture- our grandmas saying prayers to cover us, mentions of girls having TWAs, all the while being the horror stories we so commonly see with white characters coming out on top. "Harvesters" was a great story to start this book off with (L.L. McKinney can do no wrong!) There's so much variety in this book, many different stories that one can easily love. I personally connected to "Inheritance" and the Dominican background of the characters. Loved this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for providing me with this ARC!

Wow!!!! I loved this. I have been excited to read this since I saw an interview with a few of the authors in this book. Black people deserve to be represented properly in the horror genre. Some of these stories took my breath away! I loved how it was a collection because it kept me on my toes, and I was never bored. Some of the stories you want to tell by a campfire, some are a twist on real life, some you want to stand up and join the cause and some its just nice seeing us in different occupations. Amazing job to all the authors that contributed to this book! I can't wait to re read this during Halloween!!!

All the stories provide a unique lens of horror, girlhood and blackness. Tananarive Due’s foreward in itself was enthralling. This collection has a story for everyone and even in the short pages they manage to show each black girl’s power and realization that if they don’t fight for the themselves, no one will. There were no weak links, the only complaint is that I wanted more. I went into this book with little knowledge about the individual stories and basked in the unknown. The narration was topnotch and encapsulated the stories beautifully.

Thank you to the published and NetGalley for the ALC.

This is single-handedly my favorite audio book EVER! Everything about it is perfect!!!

All I have to say about this anthology is…✨BLACK🖤FINAL🖤GIRLS✨

I had a whole host of emotions while reading these short stories, which all culminated to the ultimate emotion of pride! Pride that young black horror girlies can see themselves as main characters, heroes, survivors etc. BECAUSE REPRESENTATION MATTERS🤎🔥👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏽💪🏾🖤💃🏽

[Some of my personal favorite short stories were Harvesters by: L.L. McKinney, Ghost Light by: Erin E. Adams, and Tmi by: Zakiya Dalila Harris]

⭐️THE BLACK GIRL SURVIVES IN THIS ONE, comes out APRIL 2ND⭐️

5.0⭐️ (wish I could have given 100000⭐️)

Special thanks to @flatiron_books for the physical #gifted ARC and Macmillan Audio of the ALC💜

While the thriller to horror pipeline is real, I’m ashamed to admit that I can be a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to the latter😅

I had fun with this one though!

This was a Horror anthology that housed a variety of unique, deliciously creepy stories that covered a range of topics where THE BLACK GIRL SURVIVES 👧🏾💁🏽‍♀️

I’m glad I had the book title as a lighthouse because baby I was stressed 😩

This releases next month and I HIGHLY suggest it for horror newbies like me and/or anyone wanting to scratch their horror itch. There’s a story in here for everyone.

I binged this on audio! The collection of horror stories had range from comedy horror to psychological and eerie. Our black heroines all survived, and it was exciting and satisfying. Especially in the stories where they were the ones to be feared!!

Soooo much YES for this one. I'd love to see some of the stories adapted for screen. The forward really resonated with me because they discussed the lack of representation of black women in horror and specifically cited Rachel True MY favorite CRAFT girlie.

I would love to see more spotlights on black women in horror where we aren't a side character for comedic relief, an early death, or simply forgotten.

This was such an amazing collection of horror stories about girls! As the title states, the black girl DOES survive in the end, regardless of the circumstances. These stories were amazing and fun (for horror fans). Whether in the woods, in a gorgeous hotel for MLM smoothie drinkers, or in outer space, the stories were amazing! Some will stay with me for quite a long time, I foresee. I love short stories because you can get an entire story in one sitting, instead of across days. If you are a horror fan, you will definitely enjoy these stories.

THIS WAS EVERYTHING. I am so thankful to Flatiron Books, Macmillan Audio, Desiree S. Evans, and the many amazing contributors and writers that helped to make this book possible. Some of my favorites include Brittany Morris, Monica Brashears, Erin E. Adams and so many more. There are stories for EVERYONE who loves horror in this book. We've got slasher horror, 'stranded in a corn field' horror, 'post-apocalyptics, lost in space' horror, and so much more. I was constantly entertained and was sad when it was over.

The Black Girl Suvives in This One comes out on April 2, 2024, and yall need to pre-order this one like yesterday!
