This book was definitely bittersweet in my opinion.
I absolutely loved this retelling, but I am gutted at the prospect of the series ending and having to say goodbye to my favorite MCs.
I absolutely am happy about the ending, it couldn't have gone better!

"The Queen and the King,' delivers a gripping continuation of the Hades and Persephone saga, plunging readers into a world of gods, destiny, and impending chaos. Hades, the God of the Dead, finds himself once again separated from Persephone, his fated queen, as they struggle against the forces that threaten their very existence. With the Underworld under attack and the Titans unleashed, their bond is put to the ultimate test.

Meanwhile, Persephone grapples with the revelation of a mysterious man who claims they are married in her dreams. As she navigates the treacherous landscape of Olympus, she must confront the truth of her past and the dark forces that seek to tear her world apart.

Rose and Rune expertly weaves a tale of love, sacrifice, and the unyielding pull of destiny in this book. The stakes are higher than ever as Hades and Persephone face enemies both ancient and new, racing against time to save their realms and each other.

I like the escalating tension and high-stakes drama in 'The Queen and the King,' as Hades and Persephone confront formidable foes and the awakening of the Destroyer of Worlds. The depth of their love and the lengths they go to protect each other creates a compelling narrative that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this epic mythological saga.

In The Queen and The King, Persephone loses her memories and is brought back to her mother, who Persephone had been trying to keep a distance from in the first book. Her mother doesn't accept her for who she truly is. As Persephone is going through this, Hades is facing his own struggles-- When he realizes that Persephone has lost her memories, he tries to rekindle their relationship. There are a lot of emotions throughout this book and it gives readers a different perspective of Persephone.

This ending was PHENOMENAL!!! This book is the salvation to book one. A lot of the underdeveloped plot points in #1 are explored & resolved throughout books #2 & #3.

I loved seeing P gain control & strength. Her perseverance through her Moms bull crap was amazing.
Helping collect Titans was super fun.
Berry was my favorite, I'd love a photo of him in all 3 hats. I laughed so friggin hard picturing it.

I would love a Helios & Melle book.i haven't googled that yet, but these 2 are phenomenal.
Im glad that Minthe only played a small part in this whole series, I have always hated her.

3.5/5 ⭐️ 5/5 🌶️

So first and foremost, I have really enjoyed this series and was highly anticipating the final book.
This series is a phenomenal re-telling of the Hades & Persephone story. This final book did a great job with the continuation of the story and the wrapping up of loose ends.
I loved seeing a bit more of some of the side characters and the tie-ins to the spin-off book, The Nightmare and The Daydream was really cool and added an extra level of fun to the reading experience.
For me, personally, I just wish we had a little bit more 'Hades x Persephone only time' but I did truly enjoy how the authors wrote their story and how the MMC and MFC finally got their well-deserved HEA.
Definitely a nice mix of plot and spice without feeling overwhelmed by either.
Great ending to a great story!

*I did lower my rating slightly due to the fact that one of the authors has continuous negative content on social media. For her as an author, who is trying to promote her books, I find it extremely unprofessional of her to share her many negative opinions of not only other authors but readers within the respective book related communities. It made me lose all respect for her as an author and I will most likely not continue to read things written by her.

** I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley **

The Queen and The King was a great finale of the Love and Fate series. I am obsessed with all Hades x Persephone- Rose and Rune did not disappoint! The smutty / love scenes were fantastic and I feel like Hades and Persephone were portrayed super well through the whole series! Persephone, little flower goddess but actually a bad a** Queen of the Underworld, and Hades the super feared and no BS King but such a marshmallow for his queen. Loved the dynamic of these two through the whole series. I also enjoyed the plot of how Hades and Persephone find their way back to each other and ultimately defeat Kronos and Demeter. I would 10/10 recommend this series & book to any one who loves a good Greek myth / Hades x Persephone retelling or fantasy romance! Also sooo obsessed with Helios, Mellie and Cerberus!! Such great B role support characters!

Spice rating: 3.5/4
Overall rating: 9/10

The Queen & The King by Jeanette Rose and Alexis Rune

This is technically the fourth book in the series, The Nightmare & The Daydream is book 3.5 and coincides with the events in this book. The author has included footnotes for tandem reading. I highly recommend you read them together. You will lose some of the perfectly entwined story telling if you read them separately.
This is the end of the story arc for Persephone and Hades, but the world will continue with other couples match-ups.

There is so much that happened in this book I'm no sure where to start. A quote stands out "Darkness is not inherently evil, just a light is not inherently good". This succinctly sums up the book. Demeter as the Godesss of Harvest should be full of light, but her desperation to control her daughter and "protect" her has unleashed unimaginable evil into the world. Persephone is the balance between darkness and light and she is continually underestimated, but even taken and stripped of her connections she is resilient and strong. Hades had to fight his demons as his world is ripped apart. And watching him spiral is hard to read.
There is a whole bunch of death and destruction in this book, with love and passion shining throw the darkness.
Enjoy.

If your a fan of touch of darkness then you need to read this! This is the third book though of the series so make sure to check out the first two. This has tons of spice if that's what you're into also. The love between the characters is immersing and I love it. I had to read the first two before this and I'm glad I got this arc or I might not have found this series! If your into the hades and persephone stories then this is for you!

I received an ARC from Netgalley

After reading book 1 and 2 in the series I couldn't wait for the 3rd book to arrive in this fantastic retelling of Hades and Persephone. Jeanette Rose and Alexis Rune keep the reader hooked with short chapters and plenty of action and as usual with this series I was not able to put the book down

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for giving me access to this ARC.

I was originally drawn in to the story because I enjoy a retelling. I also like the story of Hades and Persephone. The beginning started off a little slow, but made sense based on the cliffhanger from book 2. There was a lot of repetition in the spicy scenes. I would’ve liked to see some new things to mix it up! Overall, it wraps up the series nicely!

I don't really know what to say about this one. On one hand, it tied up Hades & Persephone's story arc, but on the other, it was TOO easily tired up. The s*x scenes were basically the same throughout the books, which got boring, and I've never had that happen with an erotica book before. They also kept repeating the same things over and over, and I eventually had to skip over some before it got too tedious and made me not want to finish it at all. I wish they had all been written like book one. I LOVED it, but I will not be continuing with this world now after completing this book.
I did get this from Netgalley, but these opinions are my own.

The beginning of the book was slow, but made sense with the cliffhanger from book 2, it was just kind of annoying that the pacing was slightly off. Saying that there were some interesting elements that i really enjoyed in this book compared to the others, like the dream walking and some better new characters being introduced, its just a shame that it took till book 3 for things to really get interesting.
Demeter FINALLY gets properly involved in ruining the recently healed relationship between Hades and Persephone which was probably the most interesting thing that happened in this book. Honestly, i didn't feel anything for Hades or Persephone and was pretty indifferent to the things that they were going through, just because of how annoying i found them to be in the second book. This meant that seeing her mother Demeter being the bad guy was actually kind of fun (even though i know it wasn't meant to be)
There was also a lot of emphasis put on Hades and Persephone healing their relationship, character development and emotional growth, which again would have probably been really good and heartening to see if i actually cared about them but i didn't so could have cared less about what they were going though,

Again, i think i'm still bitter over book 2 and how unnecessary it was which spoiled my opinion of this book. It could have probably been a duology and would have been more enjoyable/engaging, and i know that i would have cared more about the characters and what they were going through.
It was still a good book, and if i ignore how much i dislike the main characters it was actually rather enjoyable, just a shame how dragged out it was, and how every small thing seemed to cause issues/be a problem for them.

I said it with the last book and I'll say it again. Wow.
This was amazing. I loved this series. I loved this take on Hades and Persephone. I loved the pacing. I loved the characters. I love the creativity with all the plot points. I loved the mythology. I especially loved the never dwindling devotion of our fated couple. It's easy to fall into the "miscommunication" trope as a point of conflict with romance, which wasn't non existent in the 2nd book. But with this one the conflict was something that felt totally original, exciting, and romantic. This story is going to live in my brain for a long time.

I forgot all about this series but fuck, I am glad to have read it again just so I can devour the latest. The spice is spicing, and the romance is wonderful. I love all the drama as well. I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of this series.

Thank you so much NetGalley, Alexis Rune, and Jeanette Rose for the ebook in exchange for an honest review!

Hades and Persephone are ripped apart by Demeter when they are finally getting a handle on living together. Demeter takes Persephone to Olympus to be under her control again. Hades desperate for his Queen is willing to risk it all to get her back.

What can I say other than I am blow away. I was destroyed with the end of the last book but this one broke and fixed my heart all at the same time. This was the final I was waiting for. There was romancing not just spice! Relationship building emphasis on this and beautiful character growth. They get to know each other instead of being just list driven and I loved it. I kept telling myself dang Persephone is a bad ass. You see so much of her abilities, and her confidence grows! She was truly underestimated. I was not expecting Adonis but I loved this version of him. I LOVED so much seeing more of Mellie her sass and squabbles with Helios are still my favorite. I’m so excited to read the novella I need MORE of them.

I was bummed there wasn’t more Berry but every part he was included in made me so happy. He truly is the star of the show. I thoroughly enjoyed all the action filled parts of the book. I could not put it down. Kronos as always, is the perfect villain. I was dying to see how it would all end and I was not disappointed. I laughed, I felt overjoyed, I held my breath, I felt cried, I went through all the emotions. This might be one of my favorite retellings and I will always say yes to reading it!

The third in the series and one of the best. A slow-burn start but such a good book and worth it if you persist. Hades and Persephone retellings have a chokehold on me and this series is up there as one of my favourites next to A Touch of Darkness. Highly recommend!

The third and final installment of hades’ and persephone’s story concludes in this book. The beginning is a bit slow but you live for the times Hades and Persephone can be together while dreamwalking. The love between these two was so incredible.

plex Characters. A great plot. The ending this trilogy deserved."

Thank you NetGalley and Rose and Star Publishing for gifting me a copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book of the trilogy. There will be spoilers within this review.

This.

If Jeanette and Alexis had kept to this quality of story throughout the whole trilogy, I have no doubt it would have and retain more readers. I'm not quite sure I can say it was worth the wait of getting through two other books, mind. But I'm so glad this little gem was waiting at the end.

This story has LAYERS. I loved the idea of her being back with Demeter and how the story explores the love and boundaries of Hades and Persephone when she was. It gave the characters more depth and an opportunity to grow. There is also a huge theme of self acceptance on Persephone's side, especially as she reunites with Hades in the underworld.

There are a lot of dark scenes within this one though, SA being one, so please check the trigger warnings. I don't have any, but I got uncomfortable a little at times. So please be mindful of this.

Overall, I wish all of the trilogy was written as this one was.

Thank you to NetGalley, Jeanette Rose, and Alexis Rune for the ARC! This has been such a fun rollercoaster of emotions to get through.

The Queen & The King is the final installment of the Love & Fate series. This was such a satisfying conclusion for the trilogy and one I was so happy to have dived into. The two show how their passion and love help them overcome obstacles and leaves you really rooting for the two all the way to the end. Those are the stories I love to find myself immersed in because you just want them both to find their happy ending. This book also doesn't shy away from the spicy scenes which are always enjoyable. There are some very dark scenes in this book however, and HIGHLY recommend the reader check for trigger warnings. I personally don't have any triggers, however some scenes still left me feeling icky.

Overall, the story and the series as a whole was such an enjoyable read and so glad there are more Hades & Persephone retellings out there because you can never have too many.
