I’ve seen this described as Bridgerton with magic and I absolutely agree! I loved it, a fun spin of a classic recency romance.

There was a bit of a slow start for me with lots of characters being introduced but once I got into it I was hooked. The chemistry between the two main characters, Tiffany and Santiago was great and they really grew together!

I absolutely recommend, this is a perfect cozy read.

Like always another fun story. I been following this series and each book is better than the next. This one totally captures me and I enjoyed a lot. The character are fun and relatable. A cute rom com for fall time

I love when a book combines regency with magic. Though the period does offer some archaic traditions mostly placed upon the women of these books. This book is delightfully fun with magical tones and a pirate.

Our FMC goes through self discoveries and has so much growth, it’s sweet how she blossoms. Her banter and interactions with the MMC are great, they bounce off each other with wit and attraction.

I’ll be reading more by this author for sure!

This book was so cute, I had the best time reading it. I love everything regarding the Regency and everything witchy, so this was something I was of course set to enjoy. I already read a book by this author last year, and I also liked it a lot, but I think I enjoyed this one even more.

Tiffany and Santiago, the two main characters in the novel, are enjoyable and I absolutely felt the chemistry between them. This book is mainly a romance novel with specks of magic and witchcraft, so I didn't expect a lot of world building and I was right. The witchy aspect of it all is really simple, but also really compelling. I loved seeing this group of women really thriving in their power, and also I loved that Tiffany got her own found family. It was just rewarding to see.

What I didn't particularly enjoy was that the ending was a bit forced in my opinion. It's not very coherent with what Tifanny spends all of the book saying, it's juite a 360 to be honest, and while I enjoyed the relationship between Tifanny and Santiago, and I get that the period of time entailed some sort of social conventions, I still didn't particularly like it a lot. It was a bit rushed.

Other than that, if you, like me, like everything historical, especially the Regency era, and everything witchy, I think this could be the story for you!

This truly had so much potential but I just didn’t vibe with it. Sadly, it’s all about the vibes for me.

Tiffany is a witch. Santiago is in shipping but he’s secretly a Duke. There’s a water monster of sorts that they need to thwart. Like all of that sounds fun. Aunt Esme and her merry band of witches are great. But the story just drug on for me.

I think this could have functioned as a novella because the action parts seemed few and far between. The rest could have been left out.

I enjoyed this! I liked the characters a a lot as well as the world. I think that Tiffany was a lovely main character, as was Santiago. I liked the world within and the magic system that was easily established and well explained. The witches within were interesting and I liked seeing strong women in a society where women were often repressed.

The romance within was well done, I enjoyed that the characters maintained their personalities and values while together. Obviously there was some tension, but I actually think that it was well done. The usual third act breakup can be gruelling, but I found the conflict in this to have been well done and make sense.


I will say that I've never read Sense and Sensibility so I'm not sure if it has anything to do with that or if the title is just similar. I also think the historic setting really worked here and made the story shine. I think it was fairly well written, though the pacing wasn't my favourite. Overall I think that this is a well executed historical romance with a great supernatural storyline.

I really enjoyed how the historical fiction and paranormal elements were combined with a regency era setting for a witch romance.

The romance was straightforward, and while I enjoyed the characters, I didn't feel really close to any of them. But I really liked the notion that Tiffany's skills will strengthen thanks to Esmes' guidance and support.

As the narrative progresses, the tension between Tiffany and Santiago gets increasingly intriguing, particularly when he is made to attempt becoming a gentleman. However, it was occasionally bothersome when they miscommunicated.

At times, it felt like there were a lot of separate stories going on, and it was difficult to reconcile them all, but everything comes together in the end.

This was an easy and pleasant read, although it did leave some questions unanswered with regards to how magic works in this world. I recommend this book for lovers of cozy, witchy romance and regency romance. This might be a nice choice for reader looking for come witchy, cozy book for the fall.

I thoroughly enjoyed Kate Johnson's other witchy books so was really excited when this regency-era offering from the same magical universe was announced.

Just as with the previous two books, the magic is loads of fun and a bit silly. There are some characters who have popped up a few times and who I now want to know even more about. Then, of course, there is some romance.

The relationship between Tiffany and Santiago was so entertaining. It's obvious from the start that they'll end up together but all the twists and turns they deal with before that point are interesting and keep you guessing.

If you're hoping for a lot of spice, you'll be disappointed. There's a tiny bit but the witchy ways and adventure are the main focus of this story.

I really hope there are more books coming from this world, especially as I need to know what caused a certain witch's obsession with Napoleon...

Hex and Hexability took me a minute to get into, it felt surface level at times. It felt like I was reading Bridgerton but with a time travel twist. I have enjoyed this series so far, but the main character Tiffany felt like every woman I’ve read in regency book. We get it you don’t want to fall into societal roles and expectations but this can’t be your WHOLE persona.

I have really enjoyed this series from Kate Johnson, but I'm hoping at some point there are more connections between the characters (unless I've completely missed how all the women from these books are connected/related). This book felt more like three books kind of shoved together. It starts with Tiffany learning about being a witch, then shifts to a mystery surrounding sunken vessels/possible water creature, then to a pretty routine historical romance, and then back to the mystery. I enjoyed each aspect, but I thought the historical romance part dragged on for a bit and ruined the up-to-that-point perfect pacing. I also felt like the big reveal for the villain of the piece to be a little bit anti-climactic because it all got resolved pretty easily. And the part involving Tiffany's mother felt rushed and not as fully developed as it could have been. I did like that Tiffany and Santiago weren't the kind of couple to let misunderstandings go on for too long and actually talked things out. The secondary characters, as always, were fantastic and added the perfect comedic element.

"Hex and Hexability" is a charming witchy tale set in the early 1800s. The story follows Lady Tiffany, who discovers she's a witch with formidable talents. Despite her powers, Tiffany is troubled by the societal expectations of her time—namely, that as a woman, she must marry and become her husband's property, destined to bear his heirs.

Enter Santiago, a dashingly handsome and mysterious pirate who quickly becomes the love interest. Their chemistry is undeniable, leading to a romance filled with adventure, intrigue, and even a sea monster! 🐙

I enjoyed this book, though I found myself wishing it was slightly shorter. The witches in the story were delightful, and I would have loved to see even more of them throughout the book.

If you enjoyed the Bridgerton series and like a sprinkle of magic in your reads, "Hex and Hexability" is worth picking up.

I love a pirate/ rogue/ secret Duke. I also love a woman who is chaffing under societal expectations, especially when she discovers she’s a witch.
Throw in some wink wink to the ‘80’s and I’m going to enjoy myself.
I really loved the beginning of this book. It did get a little off track in the middle but the end was solid.

This is the latest installment in a series, but takes place a couple of hundred years earlier... so basically Regency meets witchcraft but with a similar amount of chaos as the previous books. For me it was a bit of a slow start, with a continuously shifting point of view that could have been split into several smaller chapters for more clarity, but the character of Tiffany (did the author call her that solely so she could get that early one-liner in?) drew me in - rather like she's drawn into a world of magical doors, water monsters, discovering her true abilities, and unwilling attraction to a pirate who is also more than he initially seems. Full of strong, diverse characters and plenty of humour and romance, this is a lot of fun.

4/5 stars: This is Johnson's Paranormal Historical Steamy Romance which is set in 1815 England and follows a young lady who's just learned that her talent for making the world around her come to life means she's actually a witch and a handsome shipping merchant from Chile who's secretly a duke find themselves thrown together, married and falling in love. The magic system Johnson's crafted is unstructured but is part of the same “universe” as her previous contemporary paranormal novels and it's whimsy, quirkiness are just plain fun. Plus there's a smidgen of a mystery plot that resolves nicely. With plenty of wit and humor, Johnson's writing and character work are stellar; the characters are well-rounded and complex while remaining incredibly likable. Tiffany's a joy and Santiago's a tough guy with a marshmallow center and I loved seeing them come into their own and get their HEA. Additionally, I appreciate how effortlessly Johnson includes characters who are not only diverse but span the 2SLGBTQIA+ spectrum. Oh and the OPS scenes are nice and steamy. While there are plenty of heartfelt and humorous moments, Johnson does touch on some sensitive subjects, so take care and check the CWs. exactly what it says on the tin, a magical romantasy perfect for fans of bridgerton. It has all the wonderful regency romance vibes, with a sprinkle of magic throughout to keep the plot moving and for lady Worthington to develop as a character, Its so easy to read through, and it has to cosiest feeling throughout with that romance element to leave you warm and fluffy inside.
It has all the classic elements of romance and while the actual duke and lady plot might be the typical storyline, its definietely got a few extra plot points thrown in for a twist and to make a more unique read, such as the Duke being a Pirate!? The side characters, were, as so often in romance, absolutely wonderful. I will be reading more from this author in the future for sure!

This was fun! A lighthearted Regency romance romp with witches, magic, and sea monsters.

Lady Tiffany Worthington can bring paintings to life. This certainly is not the proper behavior for a lady so she tries to hide this side of her for fear of being cast from the Ton. Once she meets her great Aunt Esme, things begin to make sense and Lady Tiffany realizes she's a witch. Rather than fearing her talents, she's learning how to embrace them.

After rescuing a handsome pirate with Esme, and a group of witches, Lady Tiffany gets thrown into a different world within London - filled with sea creatures, magic portals, and time travel- that she's never known before. Lady Tiffany craves her independence but she's also falling for the pirate, Santiago, who is more than first impressions let on.

This book took a bit for me to get into (there are a lot of characters being introduced in the beginning) but once I did, I was fully immersed. The plot was a little chaotic and it sometimes felt that I was being pulled in a new direction without warning but it was a fun read.

I enjoyed the banter between Lady Tiffany and Santiago. Neither of them quite fits into society but they accept each other regardless. Unfortunately, the two of them experience some miscommunication because they never speak to each other when they're unsure about something.

The secondary characters were all wonderful additions to the story. It's a little heftier than a light read, but I would encourage you to push through the beginning to get to the adventure.

Also, can we talk about the cover?! It's absolutely beautiful and one of my favorites of the year.

I loved this story. It had magic, romance, and humor. Two very likable MC's and a great cast of supporting characters. Both Tiffany and Santiago show character growth, overcoming their upbringing, and figuring out their own self-confidence. The book did have a few times of my least favorite plot device, miscommunication, however, it does not get drawn out overly long.
