You've Got Chain Mail is a delightful romance that draws readers into the world of RPGs, offering a charming blend of gaming and love. The story revolves around a group of friends deeply immersed in their RPG adventures, and as the game progresses, two of them find themselves unexpectedly falling for each other.
The way the book integrates the RPG elements is both immersive and fun, making you feel like you’re part of the game right alongside the characters. The romance is sweet and develops naturally, adding an extra layer of cuteness to the story that’s hard to resist.
Overall, You've Got Chain Mail is a light and engaging read that combines the excitement of RPGs with the warmth of a budding romance. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys stories that blend fantasy gaming with real-life emotions, and it’s sure to leave a smile on your face.

I really tried many times to get into this book, but by 36% I had to give up and skim to the end just to see how it turned out. There’s a lot that I liked - the setting, the characters being DnD-type players, opening yourself up to new people and experiences, the death of a close friendship that fades out. But I just couldn’t get into it. It was too slow for me. I also found Jack’s push-pull with Morgan irritating. He ousted after her but then would remind her they were friends. I had a lot of sympathy for his character but it was crappy behaviour and meant the book’s pace just got slower. I think if the author cut out a few scenes of their excursions and cut out the inner lusting until a bit later that would’ve worked for me. I’d rather the characters be less aware they’re attracted to each other so early given he was determined to be single.
Thanks to One More Chapter And NetGalley.

This was a cute book! I loved the nerdiness of the characters because they played DnD which is something I have been getting into lately. I also am a fan of books set at a Ren Faire. It’s such a great atmosphere and brings a lot of fun to the pages.
The romance was decent, but I am just not a fan of the weird breakups that happen. Their miscommunication was a lot and it made them feel a bit childish with how they dealt with certain situations. It did feel like they rushed through things too and it just didn’t feel like a sturdy relationship from the get-go.
I did like them as characters though and thought they had a great friend group!
Overall, this was a good read.

As soon as I saw this book I thought it would be made for me!
I did like Morgan and Jack and thought they were both perfectly fine main characters. Their communication wasn’t always great and they could be unlikeable at times, but never to a point where it annoyed me,l. The biggest problem I found in the book was just that I didn’t see much chemistry between them as more than friends.
I really liked the dungeons and dragons chapters and thought they were really fun. All the nerd stuff was by far my favourite part of the whole book.
It almost feels like there is the potential for Cara or some of the other friend group to get their own books as well. If they do, I would definitely consider reading those as well.

Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and Sam Parks for the early access copy of You’ve Got Chain Mail.
You’ve Got Chain Mail is a dual-point-of-view story between Morgan and Jack. With a heavy focus on self-growth, self-love, and learning what is worth fighting for, Jack and Morgan’s friends-to-lover story is one to follow.
You’ve Got Chain Mail has an intriguing way of interlacing DnD throughout the story by dedicating chapters of the characters campaign. It left me as a reader nostalgic for old campaigns and itching to start a new one.

Ok this was a nice read, thanks for the advance copy. I like the setting that they meet while a game and it refers a lot to dungeon and dragons. That was fun, i like how the relationship builds and develops. 100 % would recommend

This was a super fun read and one that I would love to re-read in the future romance books are my entire world and this gave everything.

3.75 stars. Really enjoyed most of this book. Great concept to intersperse the D and D game play with the rest of the narration. Pulling for both Jack and Morgan to get their crap together so they could be together.
Didn't love the third act issues because Margo's about face/growth was super abrupt. She got a bit too snarky. And then flipped again at the end.
Loved the friendships and how supportive they were of each other and each person's own pacing.
Hated Cara. Wtf girl.
Loved the complexity of Phil.
Wanted more of Amy
Forgot about Grey.
Good quick read. Inventive and enjoyable. Thanks to Net Galley and One More Chapter for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a pretty quick read, more because not a lot happened than because I was so into the book. I got through the final post-break up chunk of it basically just to see if the predictions I'd made were correct (they were) and to yell at the characters for not doing what it was super obvious they should be doing in less pages. As a big fan of ren faire I really wanted to enjoy that element of the story, but sadly it didn't live up to expectation. I wish the author had spent less time describing their air bnb and more time on faire stuff.
Also when I first read the title I assumed this was a You've Got Mail retelling. By the time I started reading I knew that wasn't the case, and I never quite got over the disappointment of that.

**Note to readers who prefer no spice - there are a couple of open door sex scenes in the second half of the book. They are NOT the main plot, but they are included.**
Morgan's flatmate has moved out, her house is for sale, and she's stuck in a dead-end telemarketing job. But when she joins a D&D group - despite never having played before - she finds herself with an unexpected support group, close friends, and a plan for the future.
Meanwhile Jack, a core member of the D&D group has the hots for Morgan. He's also still reeling from a breakup and the prospect of taking over his family's building business. He and Morgan get to know each other - he encouraging her to be less of a homebody and she spurring him to reassess his life - and supported by their friends, romance blossoms.
There is a diverse cast of characters and relationships, from the cis-het Jack and Morgan, to non-binary Grey and bisexual Chloe; Fatima's long distance relationship, and Phil's role as a carer for his grandmother.
This is a lovely book about friendships, relationships, romance (of course), of being a rudderless 20-something, of finding your feet, and of course D&D. There is the overarching epic quest of getting the group to the US for a Ren Faire experience, with the side quests of Morgan's career, her house and her relationship.
The chapters alternate between Morgan and Jack's POV, with a third storyline - their D&D campaign - woven through as well.
I can see this book easily leading to spinoffs about the supporting characters. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
~Many thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review~

Quippy title, fun cover, and some D&D!
This book had a lot of good qualities. It certainly had some unique aspects with the characters playing D&D and going to a Rennaissance Festival.
I liked the friendships of the characters and the nod to nerdy stuff like Ren Fest and Games. It was an overall fun read. I will admit that if you don't know a single thing about D&D the chapters in the "characters" voice might be lost on you.
I didn't over the moon love the two main characters but they certainly felt real with real issues and spats. (I didn't love the 3rd act break up) but the author makes up for it a fun grand gesture! It also made me want to go to my local Ren Fest this year and dress up!
I applaud this one for being different. I would say it's a 3.5 -3.75 but rounding up!

I don't know anything about dungeons and dragons, so I didn't really get all the referals to this game in the story. However this is only small part of the story. Morgan and Jack meet during one of the games and feel attracted to each other. They decide to do some other activities to get to know each other better, but what if they fall in love? This story has a slow built romance. Even though there isn't much depth to the characters, you'll get to know them enough. I feel like there could be a little more depth to them, however I still enjoyed reading the story.
3,5 stars

Wow. Such a cute book! It was such an easy read and I devoured it. The characters were amazing, and were perfect for the plot.

I liked the general idea of the book, the D&D games, collecting XP points and the friend group. However, the romance plot felt rushed, especially in the second part. In the end, it was hard to keep track of what page the characters were on. At least they were self-reflecting a lot so that was a nice touch.

A fun read, the story of Morgan and Jack. I like how the D&D story was also intertwined with the main story. Looking forward to more books from this author.

This was a great slow burn friends to lovers. I really enjoyed it.
This was also a really fun read. I liked the original story line. Would recommend if you're looking for an easy read romance.

This book is a must-read for friends-to-lovers and slow-burn romance fans—don’t worry, the spice 🌶️is coming!
Morgan and Jack have known each other through their usual Monday night D&D games, but being too shy, they never really connected. That is, until Morgan’s best friend Cara leaves town, and Morgan finds herself alone in a house that’s suddenly too big. A challenge with Jack to level up their adventurous sides ensues, and amidst all the trekking, sparks fly.
The story is incredibly sweet, and I absolutely adored the blend of contemporary and fantasy in the role-playing game chapters!
Morgan is a strong character who never loses her sense of humor, even in challenging situations, and I loved that about her. What can I say? I highly recommend it, but be prepared—the slow burn is slooow.

I was kindly gifted this book as an Arc reader from NetGalley. I found myself very interested in the story in the beginning but then it began to drag. I liked that Morgan was a fellow bookworm and that they visited Hay on Wye. I didn’t enjoy the chapters which focused on the D&D world but that is a personal preference. I found the miscommunication between the characters to be quite childish and that issues could have been resolved if they just spoken about their issues. I liked how both of them were pursuing their dreams externally of their relationship but that seems to be the biggest cause of issues. I didn’t like how the friend Cara was mentioned repetitively but there was never any resolution around that situation. Overall the book was okay but just wasn’t for me.

I really liked the sound of this book and was so looking forward to reading it. Unfortunately, I didn't find the reality of it as good as the fantasy in my head.
There wasn't actually that much of the Renaissance fair as it seemed there would be based on the cover and the blurb, it felt like there was a lot of whining and I found most of the characters boring.
One thing I did really enjoy though was the fact that the characters pushed eachother to be better, to follow their dreams and step outside of their comfort zone. Sadly, that wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the book.
I found Jack mopey and boring and Morgan was just very bland and sad.
This was not the book for me, although I would probably give this author another read, with different characters, in the future.

This was a nerd’s dream when it comes to contemporary romance. Even as someone who has never played a campaign, I loved the secondary story from their DND group. It’s a celebration of your inner child!
The Legally Blond stuff was hilarious and right on the nose.
Each of the side characters are solid and unique! I would love a whole series about each of them finding love!
The pacing was a little off due to some time skipping. But overall I enjoyed so much of this slow burn! The little outdoorsy adventures, the nerdiness, the self work, the side characters. This was a really cute read!
Thank you NetGalley and Harper CollinsUK and One More Chapter for the eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
