One Bed offers classic tropes - forced proximity, grumpy-sunshine, enemies to lovers - while sprinkling in humor and plenty of spice. The story drew me in quickly, and I enjoyed the introductory scenes for the main characters. Golly (FMC’s Godmother) was by far my favorite! Eccentric, wild, witty and mischievous, she definitely added some much needed humor to the story. Our main love interests, Bea and Gib, offered relatable back stories of parental failures. Unfortunately, the overall story fell flat and seemed to lose steam about a third of the way through. The last half of the book was too long, and the characters became hard to like. Gib was a constant contradiction - this is only a fling, but I’ll grab and hold your hand in front of everyone - I’ll hound you about what’s wrong and what’s bothering you, but that’s not the same as me asking you to open up to me. I eventually began skipping sections/pages of text in order to stay focused and finish the book. If you’re looking for an easy read with spice, this story isn’t a bad option! If you like your characters to have more depth, I’d keep browsing.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for the opportunity to read One Bed.
A lively rom-com, a writer reconnects with a Chris Hemsworth type man who she knew as a child and sparks fly. It's actually quite an adorable book , with her outrageous Godmother Golly, and the beautiful setting and the "only one bed" trope. I didn't really love the male main character Gib, who came off as a bit arrogant at times, and Bea was sweet but kept looking back at a past relationship that went wrong.
There is nothing wrong with the writing, and overall this book has loads to offer romance readers, it just fell a little bit flat for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This was a fun little book. Very relaxing and easy to read through. The characters delivered more than just lighthearted fun. They had depth to them which I enjoyed.
This only took one evening to speed through! Full of obvious tropes and stereotypes but that just meant I didn't have to think too hard (which is what you need sometimes!)
Moments of brilliance, the scene where Gib rejects Bea the morning after hooking up was devastating and painfully realistic.
Love that the usual tropes led to growth and learning to communicate in the end, rather than the protagonists just dwelling in toxic miscommunication forevermore or ignoring it was ever an issue.

Thank you net galley anf publisher for the opportunity.
I enjoyed the story very much. Our FMC was likable and believable. Our MMC .... I struggled to connect with . He seemed very childish to me. I was hoping he would grow out of it over all I did like the book.
If you couldn’t gather from the title, this is a spicy one-bed trope romance! Bea and GiB are forced to share a bed in romantic Greece during Bea’s godmother’s celebration week. While a lot of the themes are predictable it is still a cute story! There are some heavy storylines with both of the main characters which tug at the heartstrings. I did have to dock points for the predictability but otherwise. Overall this was a great read!
From the title and cover of this book I was expecting a really lighthearted, spicy, fun read. And while it WAS all of those things, the characters also had an incredible depth that I wasn't expecting. I've never read a book where people were so self-aware of their issues and demons, and I loved that we got to see both Gib and Bea working to better themselves. Bea was such a great FMC; I loved that she realizes her worth and isn't willing to settle when it comes to what she wants. Gib initially annoyed me with his internal monologuing about the many "brilliant" people he'd previously dated and his contempt towards Bea. But I really enjoyed Bea and Gib as a couple and loved how they balanced each other out. I wasn't expecting to swoon over characters who fall in love after being together for literally two weeks, but here I am. SWOONING. If you're a sucker for sweet, sappy, heartfelt declarations of love this book will have your heart melted into a puddle. I didn't particularly care for or about the side characters in this book, other than Golly (Bea's 70-year-old Godmother), who is WILD and says the most out of pocket things that had me quite literally laughing aloud. Thanks Netgalley for the e-ARC!
This was really a really tough read to get into. I didn’t enjoy the writing style. I did not finish the book and did not leave a review on Goodreads.
This book had some charming moments, especially with the godmother, who added a refreshing spark to the story. She’s hands down the standout character, bringing humor and warmth to an otherwise pretty average read. However, Bea’s personality didn’t quite land – she often came across as immature and a bit too prickly, making it tough to root for her. The romance was a miss for me, too; Bea and Gibson’s dynamic didn’t have the spark you'd hope for, and his "Chris Hemsworth clone" vibes felt a tad forced and overdone. The writing itself is competent, but the story ultimately feels flat, lacking the depth or originality needed to truly stand out. It’s an easy read, but one that’s forgettable once the final page is turned.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!!
What a good book! I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I loved the main characters! They had great chemistry and worked so well together. I loved how the book just flowed. My first by this author but will not be my last!!!
As female main character began to grow and develop she became more compelling as she began to reveal more of herself to the MMC. I love great character development
The side characters in this book are so funny and well-developed! I have a good image of who these people are and am able to easily picture them.
Sometimes you just need a funny, light hearted romance and this serves that purpose wholeheartedly

I was hooked by the descriptions of the sunsets but stayed for the love felt by all of the characters. I felt Bea's character development was realistic, feeling the growth she was going through. At time I felt frustrated with Gib and his inability to communicate, but by the end he had redeemed himself.
Thanks to NetGalley and Joss Wood for giving me an ARC copy of this book!

This book made me laugh and my heart break. I love Golly and want to be her when I grow up! Her character brought this book to the next level. I love a good forced proximity, one bed, enemies to lovers story.
Gib and Bea met briefly as kids. When luck (or Golly) brings the back to the same villa forced to share the same bed they are both pissed. Neither have time or energy nor are looking for a relationship, maybe a little fun but nothing serious. Golly has other things in mind.
This book was a great 4-star read for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the ARC!
One Bed offers a charming blend of humor, romance, and memorable characters. While this lighthearted read didn’t meet all my expectations, it was still enjoyable, especially with its rich setting and the beloved “one bed” trope. Initially, I struggled to get into the story due to some slower pacing in the first chapters, but as the plot unfolded, Bea’s character arc pulled me in, and her journey toward self-assertion became one of the highlights. Bea’s godmother, Golly, deserves special mention—she brought a delightful energy and lightness, quickly becoming my favorite character with her vibrant personality and wit.
However, the romantic dynamic didn’t completely resonate with me. Gib, the male lead, felt authentic but often frustrated me with his lack of communication and tendency to play “fixer.” His feelings for Bea didn’t feel as developed as I’d hoped, and I wanted to see a bit more emotional growth from him. While their chemistry was evident, both characters could have benefited from resolving personal issues before diving into a relationship.
Despite these aspects, I appreciated the vivid descriptions that brought the setting to life and the satisfying epilogue that tied things together well. Though this book had its ups and downs, it’s an enjoyable story for anyone in the mood for a fun romance with memorable characters.
Wildly entertaining!
The whole book is over the top crazy big and bold. The characters are incredible - Golly is fabulous, and the two MC are interesting. The setting is gorgeous and the descriptions made me feel like I was right there. The storyline is incredulous - 1 bed on a whole island is unbelievable but it's all part of the over the top experience. It was an enjoyable read, she falls first - one bed trope - CEO romance.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.
I was selected to do a ARC read on this book. I gave this book 3 stars not because I didn’t enjoy it mainly because the mfc complained ALOT about her ex. While it added to the story a little bit it was not a huge factor and didn’t not need to be in every single chapter. I felt like between the MMC and the mfc they both had very big issues outside the bedroom they may have wanted to work out before jumping into a relationship.
Now on to the positive. Golly. I couldn’t love her more. She had flair and sass. Kept the story light and fun. She by far was my favorite character. The epilogue was my favorite chapter in the whole book! The setting was perfect and the description of the people and places were great! I felt like I could see them all!
Thank you @NetGalley for the ARC read
This was absolutely amazing! I was totally enthralled with this story from beginning to end, I could barely put it down, and when I finally read the last page, the house was dark, I was hungry, thirsty, needed to pee and my neck was stiff. But damn, it was worth it!
I really loved the premise of this story but I feel that it didn't quite hit the mark. My main issue was Gibson, I really couldn't connect to him at all, whereas I really loved Bea. Pretty sure this was a 'me' problem, rather than the book itself.
One Bed, by Joss Wood, is a fun and light read with an interesting plot that keeps you interested. The characters are the best, especially Golly. Her name is so fitting. Joss Wood is an author from whom I will be looking to read more novels.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the ARC ebook I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.
The first 25% of the book- I Ate it up! The rest of the book was like pulling teeth. Let me be upfront, I know this book isn’t meant to be taken seriously. Clearly, it’s meant to be an outlandish and funny book. But the writing choices in this book were too much for me.
1. Bea is extremely immature. There’s talk about her going through therapy but mentioning your ex in 90% of the inner dialogue does not scream “I’m over this.”
2. Gib gives off the vibe that if you ask him what his favorite color is he’s going to start sobbing in a corner saying that it’s all just TOO MUCH.
3. At some point Gib mentions Bea’s “sexy toes” 🤮🤮🤮
4. Every challenge, and I mean EVERY is made into a mountain. For example, finding a new agent. Bea spends too much time freaking out on if the new company will publicly out her. I don’t understand how simple communication and a contract won’t fix the issue???
Again, I am fully aware this is not meant to be taken as a serious book, but it was so far out that had it not been an ARC I would have DNF’d it at 50%.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the ARC in return for an honest review.
