Rona never disappoints. All the crazy twists and turns kept me reading into the night. I loved it and happily recommend it..
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC
Twists galore in this book. And just when I thought I had guessed the outcome................................I was wrong ! Another gripping read from Rona. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC that I happily recommend
Bride and Groom is a slow burn thriller that may take some time to fully immerse yourself in. It's not until about 70% into the book that the action truly begins to unfold. However, once the plot twists hit, they hit like a truck, leaving you reeling from the sheer intensity of the revelations.
The author takes her time building tension and suspense, gradually pulling you deeper into the twisted world of the characters. While the slow pacing may test your patience initially, it ultimately serves to enhance the impact of the story's climactic moments.
One of the standout aspects of the book is the portrayal of the husband, Ethan, who is truly messed up in every sense of the word. His sinister nature lurks beneath the surface, creating an atmosphere of unease and dread that permeates every interaction.
Despite the slow start, I found myself unable to put the book down towards the end. The stakes are raised to dizzying heights, and the tension reaches a fever pitch as the characters' fates hang in the balance. Each revelation is more shocking than the last, keeping you glued to the pages until the very end.
In conclusion, while Bride and Groom may take some time to build momentum, its gripping plot twists and deeply flawed characters make it a compelling read. If you're willing to invest the time, you'll be rewarded with a thrilling and unforgettable tale of deception, betrayal, and survival.
Bride and Groom by Rona Halsall is another bingeable read from an author who never fails to hit the mark.
Nicci and Ethan are about to get married when a tragic accident will change the course of their lives forever. Sharing a secret as big as theirs is not the ideal way to start a life together, but that is not the only thing that is curtailing newlywed bliss. The bride and groom both have their own secrets on top of the whopper they share, and their marriage will be tested right out of the gate. You will think you have it all sussed but trust me, you will not. 4.5 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
I feel This book did not keep my attention. There was too much speculation on what was really happening. Took forever to get to the “who done it part “ and it just wasn’t something that was all that interesting to me.
Secrets, lies and a slice of wedding cake! 🍰
Nicci and Ethan are a newly married couple with their whole lives in front of them. They should be happy, looking forward to the future.... but well, there is the little issue of the WHOPPER of a secret that they share! Plus, let's not forget they have their own closely guarded secrets as well.
This well thought out and well written book gets off to a slow start as readers are introduced to the characters and their shared secret. It's a BIG one! Can Nicci handle the guilt? Can Ethan cover it up? Will their marriage survive? I had so much fun waiting to see what would be revealed! I loved being a fly on the wall watching and waiting as things began to hit the fan! I found this whodunit to be gripping and hard to put down!
This book was full of secrets, lies, twists and turns! I must admit, I had a soft spot for Nicci and her father. Rona Halsall, as usual, kept me on my toes and turning the pages. The second half of the book is full of twists, turns, and reveals. Like her other books, this book was hard to put down, addictive, captivating, and thrilling.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
Now this is an addictive psychological thriller that will keep you turning with all the twists!
Nicci & Ethan are quite the twisted couple, both carrying secrets. I had this feeling while reading that something sinister was brewing in this story. However, I didn’t guess just all the turns Rona Halsall would take me on!
Thank you, Rona Halsall, Bookouture, & netgalley for my early copy! All opinions are my own.
That's it, I'm staying engaged for the rest of my life, marriage is definitely off the cards!
Blimey, what a belter Bride and Groom turned out to be. I've read several of Halsall's books via Bookouture and I have to say this was my absolute favourite to date.
The characters are believable, and they'll have you second guessing yourself throughout the book with their lies and betrayals.
Full of drama, with more twists and turns than Eastenders, Bride and Groom is a fast paced psychological thriller that's addictive, well plotted and puts Halsall up there as one of my go to thriller authors.
Brilliant book, happy to recommend both the book and the author.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Walking down the aisle in the packed church, sunlight glints off my ivory silk gown. This should be the happiest day of my life. But as I carefully lift my veil and greet my husband-to-be, my heart is pounding with fear. Does someone out there, know what we’ve done?
Ethan gently squeezes my hand as he slides the golden ring onto my finger. But I know we aren’t worthy of happiness.
As I look down at my wedding ring, in a blistering flash, I suddenly remember another piece of that pitch-black, rainy night… but I try to focus on Ethan’s gorgeous blue eyes. I know exactly what he’s thinking. We can never tell.
All our family, friends and loved ones smile as they watch Ethan and I promise to be together until death us do part. But only we know what that really means…
Because we have already killed someone.
My dear, sweet new husband isn’t quite all he seems…
But then again, neither am I.
This is my first book by this author. I really liked the premise of this book. It was supper weird and twisty ( in a good way). I kept the lights on most of the night after reading this book because I was scared. I can't wait to read more books by Rona Halsall.
I did enjoy this book but found it a little bit repetitive and I got frustrated with the characters as I couldn’t really relate to them. I did however really like the ending and I felt it all tied together well
Another Absolutely Fantastic Title From Rona Halsall!!!
Bride and Groom was has an excellent Thriller storyline to get you hooked line and sinker.
It gets 5 stars from me!!
Another brilliant read by Rona Halsall, I’ve read many of Rona’s books and they never disappoint and bride and groom is no exception.
Nicci and Ethan are about to be married, however they have a hit and run crime looming over them, if the truth comes out then both of them could face a prison sentence. Even though she had her doubts Nicci goes ahead and marries Ethan and soon he is made a director of the company owned by Niccis father.
Soon after they are married Nicci realises there is more to Ethan than the man she thought she had married, he has a cold and dark side. Nicci realises Ethan has been hiding secrets from her and that he has his own hidden agenda.
When the guilt from the hit and run becomes too much for her Nicci decides it’s time to confess and from this point things go from bad to worse for her and more of Ethan’s dark side is revealed, it seems he will go to extreme measures to keep the truth hidden and stop his secrets from being revealed.
What I really loved about bride and groom is that it was a real page turner right from the start. A proper who dun it. With so many deceptions, lies, twists and secrets I had no idea what way this book was going to go next.
Without giving anything away I will say I loved the ending I thought it was a perfect fitting and every character in this book seemed to get exactly what they deserved.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.
When Nicci and Ethan make their vows to one another on their wedding day, only they know the real meaning and weight behind them. Underneath her smile, Nicci’s heart is pounding with fear because she and Ethan have just vowed to never reveal that they were responsible for the hit and run that took a man’s life. But Nicci can’t shake her guilt. Or the worry that someone else might know their secret. And she’s beginning to wonder if her new husband is who she thinks he is…
Well, Rona Halsall did it again. She jumps straight into the intense action and a feeling of foreboding hovered over every page of this story. I will confess that I thought I had this all figured out and it seemed like it was a predictable read. I should have known better. Ms. Halsall pulled me in hook, line and sinker, and just as I totally relaxed in the knowledge that I knew where this was heading…Bam! I’m smacked in the face by a delicious curveball that changed everything I thought I knew and reminded me why she’s the queen of misdirection. Rona, I am sorry I ever doubted you. From that moment on it was a tense rollercoaster ride where I held on for dear life as she took me from one shocking revelation to another.
There are some deep topics explored in the story such as toxic relationships, coercive control, and, of course, moral dilemmas. And this story provided one of the biggest moral dilemmas Ms. Halsall has written yet: should Nicci confess that she and Ethan were responsible for the hit and run that night to ease her torment, or should she keep her vow of silence? Halsall expertly wrote Nicci’s internal torture over her dilemma and I felt everything alongside her at every turn. A people pleaser who struggles with anxiety, Nicci was easy to relate to and I was cheering her on as she found her inner strength as the story went on. But this is a dual narrative and Ethan’s voice was very different. Just as brilliantly written, I loathed this manipulative man. He was a great, but stark, contrast to Nicci and as his secrets were slowly revealed he got more and more chilling.
So if you want a compelling, unpredictable and ominous thriller, this is the book for you.
Oh wow, absolutely triple wow. This was a truly magnificent read, loved it from start to finish.
Rona has such a way with words that she just draws you in right from the beginning, keeps you enthralled throughout and leaves you with bated breath right to the very end. Which is exactly what she did with this amazing book.
I was completely captivated by the story and the characters, all of which was so very well written. Although it was a constant battle as to whether certain characters could be trusted or not, trying to figure out what their ultimate goal was or end game was, what secrets they were hiding.
So if you are looking for a book that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat in eager anticipation as to what will happen next and be completely captivated throughout, then you really need to read this book.
Thank you Netgalley, Rona Halsall, and Bookouture for the thrilling ebook!! Rona never disappoints!! If you love a good binge worthy thriller, Rona is your girl and this book was definitely one of my favorites!! All the crazy twists and turns had me turning the pages late at night! A must read!
There are twists and turns galore in this book where we meet Nicci and her husband Ethan. While not the fastest paced book, there are twists, turns, lies, deceit, betrayal, manipulation, and suspense. I patiently waited while the plot built up and I got to know the characters. There were some very unlikeable characters in this one. Moral dilemma after moral dilemma, it appears the wrong choice was made every time. I did enjoy watching Nicci's growth as a person throughout he book. She started off meek and mild, and by the end of the book, she's a fierce, strong woman.
The second half of the book picked up, and I found myself entranced in the plot and all the drama. I just had to get to the end to know what happened. I found my mouth hanging open at some of the twists that developed in the second half of the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. You're literally my fave publisher at this point!
This book was just okay . Very predictable and easy to tell what the twists would be. I struggled with the pacing throughout most of this story and it just wasn’t what I expected.
A riveting story that is a must read. The story has all the element for a perfect thriller. I absolutely loved
I do like this author, her stories get very dark!
The first few chapters of this book weren't quite what I was expecting, it was all a bit flowery and romantic. But then you find out what had been happening behind the scenes and you wonder why on earth was a wedding taking place at at all!
Some very dodgy characters lead to a great family drama. I am not a big fan of drawn out fight scenes where people find miraculous strength to overcome their attackers and these parts didn't really work for me. I prefer the menacing threats than the actual violent scenes.
I did enjoy this story but it was awfully sad at times! I didn't really work out where the story was going until more than half way through.
Very enjoyable domestic noir.
This book was amazing!! Full of family drama, lies, secrets, and betrayal, this one has it all!
Hold on to your chairs for this ride. It is fast paced and when you think you know where it's going, get ready to have the unexpected thrown at you. There were so many well plotted twists and turns I felt like I was on a roller-coaster ride.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced digital copy of this book
