Thank you NetGalley, Book Outure, and Rona Halsall for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion.
This was such an exciting book filled with so many twists and turns that I never knew what to expect next! I enjoyed the fast paced and flowing style of Rona Halsall and I’m looking forward to reading more books by her soon.
This was such a good read! It had everything you from a domestic noir, the lies, the deceit, the secrets, the shady behaviour, the tension, the twists and that final big reveal at the end! A few parts felt a bit slow but the plot did mainly keep moving forward at a good pace and even saying that, it never dragged or felt like pointless waffle. A really enjoyable read
Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of Bride and Groom. I felt like a good part of the book was very slow going and the last bit was rushed. I didn't find the characters likeable. There was some twist that I didn't see coming.
Thank you to Netgalley, Bookoutour, and Rona Halsall for thos eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Publication date for Bride and Groom is April 5, 2024
Wow this is a really dark book about what should
Be the start of a beautiful new life for a young couple that’s spirals out of control when they make a silly mistake when driving and drive away from an accident. As Nicki tries to cope with what they did and to completely remember how it happens her new husband is determined to ensure the secret is not discovered. I won’t spoil this one but as always Rona does not disappoint.
This story kicks off with Nikki and Ethan getting married, the take an additional vow which they add because they share a devastating secret. The problem is this secret is snowballing and when they both have secrets from each other too it’s clear this is not newly married bliss,
The book takes us down different routes with red herrings and some very unlikeable characters.
Thank you to NetGalley, bookouture and the author for my arc.
I am literally still in shock from that ending. The amount of twists in this book is fantastic and the best part is - every single twist you definitely won't see coming they suprise you and leave you shook. Throughout the book I was frightened and scared for Nicci. Honestly my heart was pounding. Such a brilliant read which I flew through as I was hooked.
Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to read this early!
This was so gripping, my jaw dropped SO many times throughout this book I didn’t know what was going to happen next. I loved Pete, and wished we had a couple more father-daughter scenes but what we got really got me. While I did guess who the hit and run was, I did not expect THAT twist. In the end, the comeuppance was amazing and so deserved.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I always enjoy a Rona Halsall book and this one was no exception. A really intriguing, edge of your seat thriller that kept me turning the pages. A story about relationships and what we do to keep them. Highly recommended. 4 stars.
I love Rona Halsall books. If you enjoy psychological suspense that will keep you on your toes you will enjoy this one. Just be careful who you let in your life.
I love Rona Halsall's book, as always they manage to surprise me with twists and keep me hooked to the very end,
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of Bride and Groom. I love Rona’s books, this one was a fast read. Nicci was totally manipulated but everyone in her life. especially her dad. Ethan was a creep right from the beginning and it was obvious what was happening with the gaslighting. The ending was a Perfect one. It wasn’t heart pounding, more of an obvious slow burn but a good read.
Wow, not what I expected. A hit and run incident complicated by drink driving sets a chain of events off. Do we ever really know someone? A wedding, friendship group splintered, family issues all combined in this wonderful story.
It kept me engrossed till the last page
An ok read, some unpleasant characters with some decent twists. I really wanted to enjoy this book but i found myself flicking here and there, it just did not capture my attention. Sadly a rather negative review.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
None of the characters in this story were likeable but that doesn’t take away from the story and as usual, once I start reading one of Rona Halsall’s books that the reader will be brought in a few different directions, where every character has some motive before revealing which of the characters is the actual perpetrator.. I would like to thank Netgalley and the Publishers for letting me have an early copy to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own and are completely unbiased. A definite 5 star rating from me.
It pains me to give books 2 stars but, I'm sorry, this one wasn't for me.
Here's what I liked:
*The concept and cover are right up my alley
*Nicci is a likeable character
Here's what I didn't love:
*the author combined Ethan and Nicci's points of view in the same chapters which made it the book feel choppy. It took me longer to get into the story. I wish that they would have had chapters for each character and labelled them to make it clearer.
*The beginning drags on too long but the ending felt rushed
*Ethan lacked depth as a character
This author is awesome. I've read two other books from her and rated them 4 stars. Thanks for the advance review copy.
BRIDE AND GROOM
As Nicci walks down the aisle to meet her beloved Ethan at the altar she should be full of happiness and joy. But instead, her head is filled with the tragic accident she was involved in three days ago. She can’t get away from the fact that she was driving Ethan home from a party while intoxicated and was involved in a hit and run accident that may have killed someone. She and Ethan exchange their vows but begin their married life in the fear that someone may have witnessed the accident. Nicci fears that this may destroy the happiness she had hoped for in her marriage.
A nonstop psychological thriller! When you think you are in the last chapter, there is still more to come. The mind-blowing twists and turns are incredible and will leave you on the edge of your seat until the end.
Nicci marries Ethan and instead of being happy when they exchange vows, she wants to run away, because she is still upset about her involvement in terrible events days before. Soon memories resurface and secrets from both come to light.
I read my first book by this author, The Bigamist, last year and loved it so was excited to read this and see if this would contend. Bride And Groom has proved to me that this author is definitely talented in creating edge of your seat, cleverly constructed thrillers. Although the storyline is a simple premise, there are so many twists, turns and emotional scenes to make it a complex, engaging thriller. The characters are well written, although not all likeable and I found myself glued to the pages to see what they would do next. Overall another great book and I’ll definitely be recommending this book and author. Thanks to NetGalley for this copy in return for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this book, with my honest review below.
I have to confess I thought there might be a risk for Bride and Groom to follow the same overall plot of many thrillers with similar premises, but I know Rona Halsall hasn’t let me down yet with an interesting thriller and I was glad to see she once again shone in her writing!
With a plot that absolutely keeps you surprised, maybe because it at first seems to be indicating one premise and then quickly throws in twists that paint a different picture, I’d recommend Bride and Groom to thriller readers as a quick and enjoyable read!
Ethan and Nicki each had their own secrets and while they seem a bit like the perfect couple, that illusion is quickly shattered. I don’t want to reveal more and give the plot away, but if you have an opportunity to read this you won’t be let down.
Whilst reading and utterly enjoying this book, once more the question floats into my head: how well do you know somebody? Not very well it seems, but to be fair I have to say that some people are masters in disguising what they think and what they are up to.
I loved the evolution I saw Nicci go through and I was yelling: Good for you, girl. She went from people pleaser extra-ordinaire to a strong woman, standing up for herself.
I enjoyed seeing some characters getting what they deserved.
There were parts that brought tears to my eyes, others that warmed my heart and a lot of suspenseful ones. A great mix of emotions that resulted in a wonderful book. 5 stars
Thank you
Rona is one of my favourite authors and I always look forward to her next nov.el. This is another excellent tale of mystery and intrigue. Just who can be trusted?! I raced through it and loved it!
