What a fun different twist that I haven't read before of a cozy mystery. This one is very millennial in its focus and ideal client and caters to those who want to have an "Insta Worthy" experience. Full of a vibrant and quirky cast of characters, I was speeding through to find out "who dun it"!

Such a great cozy mystery!! I loved the characters and the plot was well paced. This seems like a very well founded start to a new cozy mystery series and I can't wait to see what else this author does and the next installment of this series!

Read like a Canadian Lorelei Gilmore solving mysteries. I LOVED it! I hope there are more in this series. I found it really well set up, I loved learning about the characters and how they related to one another. It had great dialogue, a few twists and turns, and just a really compelling world I would love to revisit.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was an interesting story with many funny one-liners. It was easy to read with realistic characters that were each unique and well-developed. The plot itself was engaging with many twists and red herrings that kept me guessing as to who the killer was. If you want a cute weekend murder mystery to read, this is it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am really getting into my mystery era! I ate this up! Schitt’s Creek meets Only Murders in the Building, sign me the f*** up!!

First of all before I get too far into the book review and all the reasons you should read this book or listen to it. I have to tell you it is set in a insta-worthy bed-and-breakfast, and if somebody wants to make that place real, I’m there for it I want to go to this bed-and-breakfast with all the glitz and glam! It’s set in Hudson Valley - New York but think Palm Springs!
The characters are so true to life, the dynamics and the character development is on spot! I loved the connections between the large cast of people as well as the witty banter. The dialogue felt very real and so did these characters. The twists are good, and keep you guessing. There are a lot of red herrings so you gotta keep reading and find out who’s the killer!
Cozy mysteries are so fun to read and be a part of, I like the amateur sleuthing and the charm of the setting, the sweet clean murder (can a murder be sweet and clean?) and the innocence. This book has all that and a dog you’ll love - this is the first in the series and I’m here for more that’s for sure!!

I loved this cozy mystery so much. The characters were amazing and charming inn hosts, and every time I thought I knew who did it something else threw me for a loop. Jess was so funny even though she was going through such a challenging time. I loved every second of this!! This was my first time reading this author, and I’m really looking forward to more from her!

DNF at 42%. This one just didn't work for me. I found myself picking up anything other than this book and it took a few weeks to even reach 40%.

This story is cute and very funny. It was a pleasant and gentle read, great for curing a literary hangover. It's very well written.

This was a cozy murder mystery that was the perfect vibes for me to listen to in the car. This is my first audiobook, and I really enjoyed the narrator! I found the millennial jokes to be silly and lighthearted, but could see how some readers may not enjoy that aspect of the main character’s dialogue.
The cast was a full ensemble, and while most of the characters were pretty strong, I do think some of them had less discernible personalities. I had no clue who was going to be the culprit until the very end, and the twist was certainly not expected either, but I do feel it all made sense by the big reveal. Not the most satisfying murderer reveal, but still a cozy and lighthearted listen.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Are you looking for the perfect beach read? Peril in Pink is the perfect summertime cozy mystery for you! The story follows Jess Byrne and her best friend Kat as they open a Bed and Breakfast in their quaint and peaceful hometown. At their grand opening, Jess recruited a big performer to give a show and he is one of their high school classmates, who happens to be Jess' high school sweetheart and a famous rockstar who won a reality singing show. However, the weekend takes a dark turn as people are murdered and everyone becomes a suspect. Despite the objections of the handsome detective, Jess takes it upon herself to solve the murder. The book is fun, quirky, and has a lot of heart. No characters are off-limits as suspects, which makes the story engaging. However, the focus on the high school boyfriend and nemesis becomes distracting, and some plot points don't add much to the story. Overall, the book is enjoyable, easy to read, humorous, and a little over the top. The narration is excellent, with Odom bringing her A-game to each of the characters.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media.
Traci Odom was a wonderful narrator. The story left something to be desired for me. None of the characters really resonated with me. I will recommend if someone asks for a cozy, fun mystery.

"Peril in Pink" by Sydney Leigh promised a blend of "Schitt's Creek" and "Only Murders in the Building," but unfortunately falls short of its enticing premise. Set in a bed and breakfast, the story follows characters who, despite being in their thirties, exhibit high school-like behavior, contributing little to the establishment's opening weekend.
The dialogue feels forced and uncomfortably millennial, with constant references to true crime podcasts and an abundance of pop culture and brand mentions. The protagonist's belief in her sleuthing abilities due to her podcast consumption leads to a plot filled with nonsensical conversations, unfunny jokes, and excessive hashtags.
While the descriptions and scene setting are commendable, they are overshadowed by the overwhelming clutter of pop culture references and brand placements. Despite initially promising vibes, the narrative quickly descends into a cringey and tedious experience, leaving readers longing for more substance and depth in both plot and characterization.
In essence, "Peril in Pink" struggles to deliver on its intriguing premise, ultimately drowning in its own attempts at trendy relevance and failing to engage readers beyond surface-level entertainment.

Thank you publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. I've just finished it and quite enjoyed it. It was similar vibes to the Thursday Murder Club and Only Murders In The Building. A fun cozy mystery, would definitely recommend this to friends!

I was in the mood to read something light and not-too-serious, and selected the cozy mystery Peril in Pink. It was just what I was hoping for. I finished this breezy and entertaining book in just a few days.
The author is undoubtedly a fan the old tv series “Murder, She Wrote” and has peppered her novel with nods to that show. Jessica Fletcher is the amateur detective in that tv show. The main character in this book is named Jess and the setting is in a small beach town called Fletcher Lake.
The plot was really good and interesting
. Almost everyone is a suspect in the murder investigation, and the author has cleverly dropped clues for us readers without being too obvious. I couldn’t figure out whodunit but after I finished the book, I went back to reread parts and it all was logical.
I also loved the cute husky, Duke. I’m a sucker for a book with a smart dog who helps find clues.
Some of the dialogue was cringey, especially the sentences where people talked in hashtags. It made me think of that annoying Old Navy Christmas commercial from 2022 with Jennifer Coolidge. I would have liked more natural dialogue where it didn’t sound like the scripted way people talk in tv commercials.
I hope Sydney Leigh writes a next book in this series because I quickly became invested in these characters.
Thank you Netgalley for giving me a free advance download of this audiobook for review consideration.

Peril in pink is a muder mystery for romcom girlies and a romcom for murder mystery girlies, Highly recommend, Unless pop culrure reference drive you crazy then you might avoid at all cost because shes full of them!

I found this book a bit cheesy with a twist ending.
Jess is just trying to make the best grand opening when all of a sudden there was a murder.
Jess took it along herself to look into these murders to help clear her exes name and to save her B&B from taking a nose dive due to the murder. The more Jess looked into it the more strange thing seem to have gotten. Then her key person ends up dead.
Jess ends up figuring out who did it.

Had this one on audio and ebook. It was easy to listen to and a fun cozy mystery. It was kinda a mess though with all the characters. Overal, not to bad, but not my fav.

Peril in Pink is a fun, relaxed mystery set during the grand opening of a Hudson designer B&B. The rooms are booked and the wine is flowing, until the opening act singer is a no show, Jess’s high school bully appears and seems prepared to undermine her every step, and a body shows up by the pond.
Fast paced, Jess balances running the B&B, learning what she’s missed in her hometown while she was away, and trying to keep her first love from being locked away for murder.
While signs do point to the real killer, my mind was focused on a larger conspiracy. I did find Jess’s loyalty to Lars baffling, and wished for a bit more flirting between her and James. This was a great first start to a series, establishing characters and setting the scene.
Oh, and I loved the brother-sister bond between Jess and Nate! They are so close and I am here for it! I’m excited to see what’s in store next!
I listened to the audiobook, and at first I wasn't sure if I'd be a fan, but soon I was lost in the story. It was well read, and I really enjoyed the voice chosen for Lars especially. It matched him so well!
Thank you to the publishers through NetGalley for this audiobook arc!
