The audiobook ISBN was not found on Goodreads, so I'm posting my review of the audiobook on the print version.

This was a DNF for me. I just couldn’t get into it. Between the story and the narrator. May have gotten better, not sure.

Peril in Pink by Sydney Leigh and narrated by Traci Odom is a fun and lively contemporary cozy mystery that's high-octane and highly engaging. As an ardent Cozy reader, Leigh kept me guessing throughout but the primary attraction was getting to know the star of the show, the resolute, hilarious Jess, the owner of the B&B
Traci Odom is an absolute scream as Jess and narrates this contemporary cozy beautifully! It was so much fun to listen to this audiobook and Odom's timing and delivery throughout was on point
This contemporary mystery is a real treat. No holds barred , fun and feisty and fantastic character building, I am keen to see more!
Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape, the author Sydney Leigh and narrator Traci Odom for this awesome ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

This was a great cozy mystery book! I will definitely read this author again. The audio was great! I thought the characters were well developed and the mystery kept me guessing!

Easy to listen to and a fun cozy mystery. The characters were cute and I loved the setting so much that I wish I could go there myself!

Thanks to #NetaGalley and #Dreamscapemedia for the book #PerilInPink by #SydneyLeigh. A book about old love, murder and a B&B. The story all twisted up in a few days of cat and mouse trying to find a killer or killers.

This was my first cozy mystery read/listen ever, and I really enjoyed it.
I thought the narration was fantastic. The inflection really brought the characters to life. I loved the sarcasm and quirkiness that the narrator used for the main character.
Jess pours her heart and soul into opening a bed and breakfast. On opening weekend, there is not one but two murders. To top it off, her family, ex-boyfriend, and high school nemesis are all there making the situation more difficult. To save the hotel, Jess decides she needs to solve these murders and fast.
I don't have much to compare this to because I have never read another cozy mystery before. I loved the amateur detective aspect to the whole story. It felt very much like one of those murder mystery plays that the audience is supposed to figure out the ending to. I have never been good at those, and similarly, this ending was not one that I figured out. I loved how Jess put all the pieces together and was able to solve the crime before the actual detective. Many of the characters were intentionally unlikable, but I was really routing for Jess.
Overall, I will probably stick to the grittier thrillers and mysteries, but this was quite an enjoyable book, and I was glad that I read it.

I did not finish this book because the writing was so bad. It felt like a GEN X was trying to write dialogue for what they think Millenials and Gen Z's sound like and epically failed. I also absolutely HATED the narrator it made it so much worst. Gave up after the first 4 chapters. Not worth the read.

My go-to genre is not usually cozy mysteries but for some reason, Peril In Pink just called to me. Aside from being a cozy mystery, this was also a locked room mystery which is a subgenre that I typically do enjoy.
Jessica is opening a bed and breakfast and has her famous musician ex-boyfriend Lars booked to perform at the opening. A lot goes on quickly which starts with someone else performing and then the death of Lars’ manager/stepdad. Lars looks like the prime suspect but Jessica doesn’t want to believe that. Jessica is deep into the investigation when another body is found and this body continues to make Lars look like he is guilty.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish but felt it lacked twists. Locked room mysteries typically have an unbelievable twist, but Peril in Pink just gets solved, with no real twist.
If you're a fan of cozy or locked room mysteries then this is one that I would recommend.

This was an enjoyable murder mystery with a cute B&B setting. I enjoyed that it was set in a small town and alot of the characters had a connection somehow. This made for a twisty, fun time! Thank you so much to Crooked Lane and NetGalley for an ARC of the audiobook!!

Jess is all set to open her new B&B but things don't go as expected when a murder occurs on the property on the opening weekend.
This cozy mystery was quite a fun read. I had access to both the audiobook and the ebook so I followed along as I listened which I always enjoy doing. I did find the book a bit tame, which I understand cozy mysteries are meant to be. Since I usually read more twisted, darker thrillers, this one was a nice palate cleanser for me.

I really try to be fair when I write reviews as I know a lot of work, heart, and soul goes into a written work but sometimes the book isn’t right for me. There’s nothing wrong with this book and that’s the best I can say about it; it just wasn’t very memorable. The characters were flat and seemed almost like tweens rather than adults; no one should ever speak in hashtags. There are way too many pop culture references. Maybe the target audience was much younger than me but this just felt like all the boxes needed to be checked for what makes a cozy mystery and it missed the mark. I did love the setting of the Hudson Valley so I may read the next one if the library gets it.

Definitely read this is you’re a fan of amateur sleuths, the My Favorite Murder podcast, or any other true crime podcasts.
I have to premise this by saying that I’m not a fan of My Favorite Murder, so the various references in the book don’t make sense to me and felt a tad much at times. There were also a tad too many pop culture references for my taste.
The blurb for this book was so promising - I love Schitt’s Creek and Only Murderers in the Building is something I’d like to watch soon! Unfortunately I did not feel like this fit Schitt’s Creek vibes in the quirky, fun, irreverent manner, and I could only compare it in a motel-esque setting, small town type of way.
I didn’t really connect with the characters. It felt like the main characters were a little immature, and I found it hard to believe that they were 28 years old. Their “sleuthing” felt more like gathering gossip within their small town.
This one ultimately wasn’t for me, but maybe it’s for you! The narrator did a great job, and each character was distinct but not overdone. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

The comps of Schitt’s Creek & Only Murders had me running to read Sydney Leigh’s debut novel, Peril in Pink! Full of hilarious banter, pop culture references and amateur sleuthing this was a super fun read and I’m excited to see what shenanigans book 2 will bring!

Thanks Netgalley, for an audio arc of Peril in Pink. It was a fun, cute, cozy read!
Friends (and self-proclaimed muderinos) try to solve a murder that's occurred at their brand new, insta-worthy B&B, during opening weekend no less. The guests and staff at the B&B are all suspects - but who has the motive and the means to carry out the crime?
I thought this book was fun. The B&B made for an adorable setting (it really does sound quite instagramable), the bits of hometown drama were amusing, and the story has enough curve balls thrown in to keep you guessing at who among them really is a murderer.
Overall, cute and funny with its fair share of corny moments.
Side note: I'm new to reading this genre, so I'm not sure if the cheesey-factor is the norm or not, but I definitely noticed it and chuckled / eyerolled more than once. They felt like silly scenes / jokes that were specifically there for a "cute" or "cheesey" moment.

Quick Summary: A #cozy mystery
My Review: Peril in Pink by Sydney Leigh is book #1 in the new Hudson Valley B and B Mysteries series.
About the Book: A grand opening event is set to take place at The Pearl B & B. Everything is going well until a body is discovered. A hometown boy who has a spotty reputation with the locals is the primary suspect. When a second body turns up and other secrets are revealed, it’s anybody’s guess who committed the murders.
About the Narration: Traci Odom gets a thumbs up from this listener. I was glued to my seat. (Thanks for making it so entertaining.)
My Final Say: What a fabulous start to a new mystery series. It reminds me of a modern day version of a BBC show that I watch. I loved it - amateur lady detective for the win! I’m all set to read book two.
This story had characters galore. The unique ties to the victim were interesting and provided just the right amount of texture to the story. More was really going on behind the scenes than I originally thought. I didn’t want to miss a minute of it. Also, I loved the rivalry and tension between the main suspect and the lead detective.
Other: Although this mystery came off like a NA to post NA read (due to the numerous mentions of hashtag and pop culture references, as well as due to some of the actions and attitudes displayed by the characters), it still landed well. It’s cute and contemporary, which has its own appeal. Readers who want a fresh energy with their cozy will like this one.

Appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Dreamscape Media), and to NetGalley. Thank you for allowing access to an audio ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review. I am grateful for the opportunity to read this work. I look forward to acquainting myself with additional books in this series.

"Peril in Pink" is a fun & cozy murder-mystery, set at the grand opening of "The Pearl B&D" in Hudson Valley. Jess has turned the B&B into an Instagram Influencers dream & even enlisted the help of her now-famous-musician ex-boyfriend of hers, Lars, to preform at the opening. Everything was going great until Lar's step-father and manager, Bob, is found dead and Lars is the prime suspect. The story really picks up as Jess tries to solve the murder & uncover the secrets of everyone at the B&B. I was suspicious of literally everyone because, there wasn't a single character who DIDN'T have a motive to kill Bob, even people NOT EVEN AT THE B&B. The only person I was confident wasn't behind it, was the literal prime suspect.
I was hooked to the story pretty early on & was engaged the entire time. I loved Jess's obsession with the "My Favorite Murder" podcast & thought it tied into the story really well.
& I would like to stay at this B&B, k thanks.

Fun detective mystery. The story was a humorous murder mystery thst was over before I realized. I got immersed in the story and it flew by. It is a great palate cleanser or book to get you out of a slump. Would recommend.

A great start to a new cozy series…PERIL IN PINK book 1 in the Hudson Valley B&B Mysteries. We meet Jess Byrne owner of The Pearl B&B celebrating her grand opening with an ex boyfriend turned famous reality singer Lars set to perform. Things quickly take a turn for the worse when Lars’s manager/stepdad, Bob turns up dead. Jess then puts on her amateur sleuth pants to investigate to save the B&Bs reputation.
Like all first cozies in a series it is setting you up for future novels… so you are getting a strong sense of place with the charm of a small town and great descriptions of the B&B… Multiple characters are introduced, that I’m sure we will get to meet again… A good mystery that leads you to believe any one and everyone is a suspect… oh and I can’t forget about the blossoming romance I’m sure we will get more of in book 2!
Felt like a classic cozy with a modern take!

I expected to fall in love with it, drawn to the allure of a cozy mystery. However, while the narrative was undeniably nice and lovely, it didn't quite stir the range of emotions I had hoped for.
The story unfolded with charm, weaving a mystery in a quaint setting, but I found myself wanting more emotional depth. The characters, while pleasant, lacked the profound connection that would have made the reading experience truly memorable.
For enthusiasts of the cozy genre, it's an enjoyable read, but personally, I yearned for a narrative that delved deeper into the intricacies of human emotions, making it a more fulfilling literary journey.
