Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book. I found What Have you Done, which is Shari Lapena's latest thriller, to be a satisfying read. The story revolves around a local teen named Diana Brewer who is found dead in a field. The author gives us a fresh twist from her usual style by making one of the characters perspectives as Diana herself. Yes, that's right, Diana, as a ghost. But it doesn't come off corny or cheesy. It adds to the mystery. The police think they have a good suspect in one of Diana's teachers, but could it be the creepy man that visited her at her job? Or is it Diana's boyfriend, who even their friends think might have done it?? The author does a good job keeping the final reveal a mystery until near the end. Nicely done.

Unfortunately, this was not my favourite Shari Lapena book, but the mystery was still good. I just had a hard time connecting to any of the characters and could not get invested in the story. I did not have any problem continuing to read the book until it was finished.
Thanks to NetGalley and Pamela Dorman Books for the opportunity to read this book!

First off a big thank you to NetGalley and Pamela Dorman Books for the ARC!
This thriller/mystery had me guessing until the end. There were a whole lot of POVs which got a bit crazy but did keep me on my toes storyline wise.
Wasn’t a huge fan of the paranormal aspect but that’s my preference, I feel like it didn’t mesh well.
Overall 3/5⭐️

I’ve seen mixed reviews for this one but I definitely enjoyed it . Was it somewhat predictable ? Sure . But I like the small town setting and the multiple POVs. I do wish there was more from the ghost’s perspective

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy of this novel for review purposes.
I am a Shari Lapena fan and eagerly signed up to read this novel. I was not disappointed!
The plot is as twisty as any of Lapena's other books but, as expected, it is so well written and so intriguing that I felt that I was taking the ride with the characters, not just watching from the sidelines.
This novel was full of plausible characters fully developed and I found myself relating with more than one of them.
I can't wait for the next novel from Shari Lapena

small town murder had has me guessing at every turn. On the edge of my seat trying to figure out the who how and when of this twisty domestic thriller… binge worthy page turner! Loved it!

What Have You Done is a mystery/Thriller written by Shari Lapena. This story takes place in a small town in Vermont where the body of a naked teenage girl is found on a rural farm.
This starts an investigation in the sleepy small town to determine who is responsible for the killing a beloved local teen. This is a multiple POV book as several potential suspects and other side characters (including the ghost of the murdered girl) piece together what happened that night and who is responsible.
As small town secrets come to light the town tries to come to terms with who is responsible for the murder. The twists and turns of this book were incredible. There were a lot of characters and several weren’t very likeable but ultimately this was a great book! This is a 4.5 star book for me!

I am a huge Sheri fan, I have been reading her books for years and always get so excited when she puts out a new book. She is an auto buy author for me no questions ask. I really enjoyed her latest who done it suburban small town thriller. I love how she is able to weasel in all these characters related to the story so well that just keeps you guessing who did it the whole time. I was questioning it the whole book, and enjoyed each pov and having to figure it out. I also enjoyed the aspect of having our victim as a ghost and her pov we got. I thought it added a really good element to the story. I listened the audio and I thought the narrator did a great job she read most of the parts and I was never confused on whose POV was. But I will say there was one thing that kinda threw me off with the audio in it has to be this person way and why I’m hiding this for spoilers is they gave one person a different narrator for it and I just kinda felt like it made it obvious that it was going to be them who did it. I think because their POV was in letter dairy form but still it made it quite obvious but other than that another very enjoyable Sheri Lepena Book!

I am no stranger to novels by Shari Lapena and this one did not disappoint. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't get enough of this novel.
A must read novel for sure.

One of my favorite thing about Shari Lapena’s stories is how she takes seemingly idyllic settings and shines the light on all the dark, twisted things that lay underneath.
𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙧𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙡, 𝙑𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙩. Until it does! When Diana Brewer’s dead body is found in a field by a local farmer, the town of Fairhill is in shock. A high school student beloved my many but apparently not by all.
I enjoyed multiple points of view and getting to know various people connected to Diana this way. Different fonts and narration styles made it so easy to follow. This was such a page turner for me - I ended up finishing this book in less than 24 hours! I love Shari Lapena’s writing but most of all I love that her stories are more than about twists and turns but also about darker sides of human psychology.
Whether you’re already a fan or looking for a new thriller to sink your teeth into, I definitely recommend this one! A huge thank you to Penguin Random House Canada & Doubleday Canada for my ARC in exchange for an honest review!

4.0 Stars
This was such an enjoyable thriller. I found myself frequently switching allegiances and suspecting everyone at different times. It's been quite a while since I was this engrossed in a thriller.
I would highly recommend this one to fellow readers looking for a good new twisty mystery.
Disclaimer I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

I would give it a 3.5 if half stars were a thing.
Not my favourite Shari Lapena book, but still a mystery book.
Have you ever wondered what happens in a small town?
Doors are left unlocked, and life is peaceful,
Kids skip school, parents trust their children to come & go.
The kids tell ghost stories, some even get hit on by their teachers.
But one night is a small town in Fairhill, Vermont, something goes terribly wrong.
The story starts with a Vermont teen found dead in local farmers hayfield.
With multiple POV’s you get to experience everyone’s view on what happened.
What is the boyfriend? - they were last scene together?
What is the teacher? -who has been coming into the girls change room?
What about the guy that shop at the local hardware store? - everyone thinks he is just a little too friendly.
As the pieces come together the story does has a lot of police views and YA story telling.
I wonder what it would have been like without the ghost pov - not sure it was needed.

I love a great Shari Lapena novel and this one did not disappoint. It was incredibly heart wrenching and while I knew the answer wasn’t as cut and dry as you’re let to believe, I didn’t see the ending coming.
I felt so deeply for Riley and Diana’s mother specifically, god I wish I could give them both big hugs.
Lapena is one of my auto read authors because I can always count on a well crafted thriller filled with twists and turns

Once again, Shari Lapena has written another stellar novel. Nothing fancy; straighforward whodunit in a nice, little package. While the culprit was pretty easy to figure out, I still quite enjoyed this story, and it held my attention from start to finish.

Small Town Murder Mystery
What Have You Done? by Shari Lapena is a gripping domestic thriller set in a small Vermont town. The story revolves around the murder of Diana Brewer, a popular 17-year-old girl whose strangled body is discovered in a farmer's field. This tragic event shakes the tight-knit community of Fairhill, transforming it into a place of fear and paranoia as everyone becomes a suspect.
What Have You Done? by Shari Lapena is a highly engaging read that will appeal to fans of domestic thrillers and mystery novels. Its strong character development, tense atmosphere, and exploration of community dynamics make it a standout in the genre.

While I did enjoy this, I felt like it was hard to connect with any of the POV characters. This might be because the likelyhood of at least one being unreliable, as is so popular currently, meant I could fully trust any of the characters.
It was still an enjoyable read, but it would have had more impact if I’d been more invested in the characters.

Shari Lapena is undoubtedly the Canadian queen of the mystery-thriller and I have yet to encounter a book of hers that I didn't enjoy.
If you're looking for a mystery/thriller to kick off the spooky season, with short chapters and a page-turning intrigue, look no further than What Have You Done? This was a quick, addictive read, with multiple point of views and many red herring characters with suspicious potential motives.
However, if you're an avid thriller reader, as I seem to have become, you may find that the ending is quite predictable. Approximately 25% of the way into this book, I had strong doubts about who the perpetrator was and their intentions, which for both I turned out to be right. However, don't let that deter you from reading another great story by Lapena.

I absolutely love anything written by Lapena and this book was no different. I was hooked from page one. Some many little twists and turns that kept me turning the pages late into the night. I definitely didn’t see the ending coming! Love a book that can trick me like that.

This is easily one of my new favourite Lapena novels. It’s a great twisty novel that has me turning pages as quickly as I could. I never saw the ending coming, but it was perfect and tied it altogether wonderfully. Definitely recommend.

3.5 ⭐️
Classic Lapena writing that gets you hooked but has a lot of fluff and repetition. I found this book added in a lot of extra aspects that weren’t necessary or didn’t really relate to the story.
And without spoilers, because of the writing style, the culprit became a little obvious very quickly.
BUT STILL I devoured this book. It was still engaging and interesting, more plot than character development, and I enjoyed the reading experience. I will always read Shari Lapena!
