This was extremely well written but with a young adult feel since many of the characters were younger. There were many character which was sometimes difficult for me to remember and their perspectives would be within the same chapter. I appreciate multiple points of view especially in a thriller or crime drama because it gives the reader new perspectives and may lead to new possible predator identification. I was often compelled to read “just a little longer” to learn more. I would highly recommend.

This book is an intense thriller with a lot of twists. It also has multiple POV's, which is expected if you've read any of Shari's other books. Everyone of the 'suspects' was excessively suspicious, so it was hard to pinpoint the killer. I was actually very surprised with the outcome. Talk about keeping a girl on her toes. The ending was actually really good. Honestly, she couldn't have ended it better.

"What Have You Done?" by Shari Lapena is a gripping thriller with many twists, and multiple POV's (which was something I quite enjoyed) I was kept quessing until the end, and enjoyed the book. I did take a few days to read it, as it was not a binge worthy story for me, but it was still good. Thank you for the arc!

This book held my attention the whole way through, but I found it hard to connect with any one character with the multiple POVs because there were so many. I did enjoy the plotting until I reached the end. I felt like a potential unidentified plot hole existed in the chain of events. I don't want to go into details because of potential spoilers. Also, there are a lot of adverbs and filter words that are unnecessary and distance the reader.

This has an unusual take, it’s a straight forward domestic murder but with a dash of the supernatural. There’s chapters from the POV of the victims ghost. That was quite unusual & it didn’t work one hundred percent for me, it’s was a little disjointed. The rest of the story though is good. There’s the right amount of suspects & secrets to keeps readers engaged. I did guess the killer. If you want a quick read this will be a good one.

What Have You Done? - Shari Lapena

Shari always grabs my attention from the very first page and delivers action packed thrillers! When a farmer finds a body in his field early in the morning, the whole town wants to know who did it. While I guessed the suspect early on, I still enjoyed the book. I was so excited to be picked to read this one as an ARC - thank you NetGalley!

A fast paced, page turner What Have You Done is a murder mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end.
When a young, local girl turns up dead in a field the entire town begins to look at each other to find out who could have done this.

Another well done story by Shari Lapena. While I figured out the killer very very early on, I still really enjoyed the twists and turns and reveals. The multiple character POVs are usually something I hate, but either they’re growing on me as I age, or these were done quite well.

Interesting and suspenseful, this is my third read from this author, and one I enjoyed equally.

Diana Brewer, a beautiful seventeen year old, is dead. Murdered by an unknown assailant in a small close-knit community in Vermont. In a bit of an unusually supernatural twist, we meet Diana herself, in her first person POV voice (no longer embodied), telling us her story, - or at least as much of it as she remembers.

We also meet a huge range of characters - friends, school-mates, work-mates, casual acquaintances, parents and neighbors of Diana - many of them mysteriously hiding secrets, and most of them telling their stories directly in a somewhat intimate third-person voice - as the author spins a tale of lust, love, youth and beauty, and how each may be misunderstood, thwarted, and squandered, and mostly, broken in a moment of thoughtless passion.

A recommended read for lovers of thrillers, this is a windy, intricate and engrossing tale, with a tricky ending this reader guessed, and still found satisfying and well-crafted.

A great big thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All thoughts presented are my own.

What Have You Done? By Shari Lapena is one propulsive read! I was hooked right from the start and much like the police in the novel had a few of the same suspects. I found the multiple pov aspect did seem to kind of repeat itself at times through different characters, although I did love them different pov with such a large character book, it kept me on my toes and suspecting people I might not have otherwise. The ending sure packed a twist that hadn’t even crossed my radar. I highly recommend this bingeable, fast paced, small town, multiple pov thriller!

"What Have You Done?" by Shari Lapena is a captivating murder mystery set in a small town, delving into hidden secrets, grief, and the mysteries that lie beneath the surface of both individuals and locations. The story revolves around the murder of sixteen-year-old Diana Brewer in the town of Fairhill, Vermont, sparking fear and suspicion among its residents. As Diana's ghost observes, we follow her mother, friends, teachers, and potential suspects to unravel the truth.

I devoured this book in one sitting and found it incredibly engaging. It was my first time reading a novel by this author, and it certainly won't be the last!

Special thanks to Shari Lapena, Penguin Random House Canada, and NetGalley for providing this ARC. All opinions expressed are my own. “What Have You Done” is on sale today, July 30th, 2024.

This book started off interesting but suddenly changed direction. As an avid reader of the genre, I quickly clocked the big twist. The inclusion of the ghost POV felt unnecessary, adding little to the story. It actually ruined the storyline for me because she was an unreliable narrator on top.
When we finally get the big reveal, the motive remained unclear, and it seemed as if LaPeña herself was unsure. There was literally no build up to this, no hints. nothing. Just out of left field.

A locked room mystery where the pieces don't fit together at the end is always disappointing. Several threads, particularly the ghost plot line, should have been explored further. When the book abruptly ended, I was left wanting more, seriously questioning whether I was reading an ARC or if that was truly the end of the book.

Canadian author Shari Lapena proves once again why she is the QUEEN of domestic suspense with her latest novel. The story is fast-paced and chilling from the start, centered around the murder of high school girl Diana Brewer in a small town.

Told from multiple POVs, the book explores various suspects who might have had motives to kill her. The suspects and characters impacted by the small-town murder are well-developed and captivating, keeping you guessing and in some cases even second-guessing their motives. This book is an addictive thriller that highlights how little we truly know about the company we keep. If you're looking for a murder thriller, I highly recommend reading this one. BRAVO Lapena!

Shari Lapena has again provided us with a twisty thriller with many possible suspects.

What Have You Done? is set in a small town where everyone knows everyone. Not only is the killer probably amongst them, but their lives are so intermingled, that everyone seems to be affected by Diana's death.

I love the short chapters that make it so easy to binge this novel in a short time. As I approached the end of this novel, I was so sure who the killer was but I am glad to say that Shari Lapena managed to pull out a last minute twist that I did not see coming.

I actually enjoyed the POV of Diana who at first didn't realize she was dead and been murdered. Through her eyes we find out information as she remembered it happening that fateful night. A real page turner for sure, well worth the read.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for providing me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Shari Lapena as hit a home run with this novel. It was hard to put down and drew you right into small town Fairhill. She has great character development, so you really feel like these people are like neighbors. Oh but the twists and turns will keep you turning those pages.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to enjoy this book, and congratulations to the author!

Good, but not great binge-worthy thriller. I found it easy to figure out “who done it” because of the way it was narrated, but it did keep my interest and I blew through it very quickly . I would recommend it based on the readability but the character development and writhing style left me wanting. It was a fun ride tho!
Thank you to the Author, Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for the ARC.

Popular 17-year old Diana is found murdered in a farmer’s field. Things like this don’t happen in small towns where everyone knows everyone!

There are multiple points of view, including a few of Diana’s friends, a teacher and principal, her mother, the suspects, and Diana’s ghost. Diana doesn’t actually remember how she died, so it’s a reveal for her, too. There are three main suspects and it could be any of them. It’s a small town, so everyone is connected in some way. It didn’t feel fast-paced, but it was fast to read, and I quite liked it.

What Did You Do by Shari Lapena

Diane Brewer is dead at 17. Found naked in a farmer’s field. How can this be? Everyone loved and admired Diana. Her boyfriend Cameron, her best friend, Riley, her teachers and her boss. How can this be? You must read the book to find the answer. It had me wondering until almost the last page.

I quite enjoyed this read. It is fast paced and easy to follow. Just the style I enjoy.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Random House Canada for this delightful opportunity.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! What Have You Done? by Shari Lapena is a fast paced novel about Diana, a teenage girl, who was murdered and left in a neighbouring farm field. There are many suspects but the killer always seemed to find a way out. Was it because the authorities were looking in the wrong places? Was the real killer hiding in plain sight? This novel had so many twists, I was intrigued until the very end. I also felt great sympathy for the main characters. The loss of a young teenager is never easy especially when it happens in such a heinous way. Overall, I story I would highly recommend to others.

What I like about this book was its pace. It's fast and good if you just want a quick read to save you from a slump. It's eerie and grabs your attention right from the start. And it's refreshing to see Lapena's stepping into the drama of a small town.

Once in a while, you'll think "Ah! it's so obvious", until Shari makes you second guess everything you think you know. The ending was a bit sudden and the ghost element wasn't my favorite, but I still really enjoyed the book. I'm not a fan of the subplot either and think that was handled pretty poorly. Otherwise, I still wasn't able to put this down, so I'd still recommend it!
