I loved Donaldson's first book, Edenbrooke, but Blackmoore was even more delightful. I loved the more Gothic atmosphere, and I was compelled by Kate's desires to leave the confines of the expectations for her life, coupled with her growing attachment to the leading man. Any fan of Regency romance is going to be pulled in to Blackmoore.

This was a very clean, sweet romance in the vein of Jane Austen/Georgette Heyer sort of regency novel. I liked the characters and thought that the romance between the two was natural and not forced. I will be reading more by this author.

1820s England, I love the era, but why are all the books written in that time stuffy?
I realise it has a lot to do with the society and the language, but it is so annoying.
This book was so good, but it felt restricted?
