Starting our cleanup so we can then begin 'edible landscaping' means this book could not have been offered for review at a better time. This is a fantastic reference book and has a plethora of information and photos to help along. I'll want to continue reading this book as more research often as we make progress on our own edible garden adventure.

I have read quite a few gardening books over the years and can see Chown’s knowledge and passion in this book. It’s not only informative but she offers her own thoughts and advice to guide you.

All aspects of grown your own are covered from deciding on a style (neat rows, more natural, mixed into borders), learning your soil type, preparing it, mulching, sowing different crops, keeping them healthy, warding off pests, how to compost and how to make your own fertiliser etc.

If you are starting a garden for the first time or trying to grow a new kind of fruit or vegetable this is a great reference book with clear instructions and photos.

My first impression of the cover is that it felt a little plain, but it’s to fit in with a series - so nice if you have the series! Regardless, inside the format and pictures are modern and beautiful to make a great gift.

This is an encyclopedia of gardening, from creating your own area to putting pots on a porch or windowsill - this is your book!
You will be shown how to make your own compost, from the kitchen area or in three different containers according to stages and ripeness.
There are directions on how to grow herbs and vegetables in pots, how to start your seeds or seedlings, and how to take care of them as they mature.
You will learn how to fend off insect and animal pests, and which insects are beneficial to your garden.
You will learn what a micro green is, and how to grow and harvest them.
Learn how to plant and harvest your crops and how to rotate them so you do not get the same insects or every year.

This is a good all encompassing garden guide for the beginner gardener. There are lots of photos and I appreciated the information on things a lot of gardening books leave out like how to make homemade fertilizer free from nettles and comfrey. I suspect it’s a UK book, as it doesn’t discuss garden zones, making it a little trickier for new gardeners who aren’t sure what plants are well suited for their regions. Still a useful, thorough guide.

I read a temporary digital copy of this book for review.

I have always appreciated and enjoyed all the Bloom productions because they are so great for beginners and they are basic with such a beautiful natural vibe. Edible Garden is a dynamic introduction to growing edible plants. Throughout the photos, you don't see much plastic use in gardening which is wonderful and their pest remedy page is so user-friendly with such a fantastic steward to our environment suggestions.

Bloom the magazine has great photos and this book doesn't disappoint in the photo category neither does the text by Vicky Chown. Again such a wonderful vibe and such helpful information for the beginner gardener.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher Bloom by Quarto Publishing for the opportunity to read and review Edible Garden by Vicky Chown.

Edible Garden is a wonderful introduction to growing your own organic food. This covers everything from types of soil, types of seeds, how to access your space, types of beds, planning, companion planting, sowing, protection, weeds, structures, composting and lists several types of plants with specifics on care for each plant and how to deal with pests.

I would recommend this book for anyone interested in growing their own food. It has just the right amount of information to get you started and enough to keep as a valuable resource.

Thank you Quarto Publishing Group and Vicky Chown for providing an advanced copy for review consideration via NetGalley.
