I myself would like to see food webs and suchlike as a chapter in a bigger biology volume, but as this is for a very young audience it's probably fine to have a single book devoted to the concept. However, here we have six – for there are titles in this series looking at food webs in the desert, the Arctic, grasslands, and so on. And the response is, 'why?'. You do learn through repetition, but how annoying it must be to have this half-dozen set thrust at you by an unaware school librarian and get the same detail time and time again.

This specific volume has the woodland feed from the sunlight, and then provide nourishment for smaller mammals, who cater for the larger ones, and so on up to the apex predators. The difference between a food chain and a food web is finely portrayed, and there is little actually wrong here, but why can it not provide proof of what it's saying by focusing on more than one ecosystem? It already feels a smidge repetitive, and written a touch weakly – I felt a couple of instances where stronger language could have punched the message a bit better. So while it might seem handy to have guides to this kind of thing for every major biome, I know that when budget factors in then a book that does all will be much preferred.

This is a fantastic, easy-to-read book about interrelationships in nature. The photographs are fantastic -- I really felt like I was catching these forest animals in private moments. This would be great for classrooms and families.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

Forest Food Webs was a great read aloud! It has some really great facts! I also like how some words are bolded to help add emphasis. The illustrations are beautiful while not being overly stimulating. What a great informational story!
