I have to say that I was drawn in by the blurb for Errands and Espionage when I first read it and the story ended up being as fun and entertaining as I had hoped it would be!
Gabby Greene is a recently divorced, stay-at-home mom of two, who isn't the most organized, nor does she feel the best about herself these days. When there is a knock at the door and she is approached by a secret government agency due to the fact that she resembles a recently murdered spy, at first she thinks someone is trying to pull a fast one on her. She finally realizes they are serious and they want her help because she looks so much like this woman and they think she can help them get to the bottom of the mystery. And, what would a story like this be without another gorgeous spy that catches her eye?!
You do have to suspend reality to read this, as some of it just wouldn't be possible otherwise, but that's part of the fun. I did find a lot of it relatable though in terms of how Gabby had to juggle her home life with her kids and the job she was trying to do. None of that is easy, ever. Overall, this was an enjoyable and fun, summer read!

Fans of Finlay Donovan, I’d like you to meet Gabby Greene. Sam Tschida has entered the chat with her hilarious, tongue-in-cheek spy novel, ERRANDS & ESPIONAGE.
Gabby Greene is a recently divorced mom of two struggling to hold it all together. After 14 years of stay-at-home-momming while living in yoga pants, she’s at a crossroads. Her ex is hounding her with legal action to get a job so he doesn’t have to pay spousal and child support. Her skill set is way out of date. It’s looking like Tupperware sales is in her future until she is - wait for it - recruited by the CIA to be a real life spy.
Everything after that is a jumble of ridiculously bizarre happenings as Gabby works to take down the Russian mob. There may even be a little romance thrown in. It’s necessary to suspend your disbelief, but oh-so-rewarding when you just go with the flow and embrace the unlikely shenanigans that follow. The supporting characters are much of the fun here. Embracing their quirkiness is a big part of the charm of this book.
The ending hints at a sequel and I hope Ms. Tschida delivers on that promise. I’m ready for more adventures with Agent Gabby Greene.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the opportunity to read an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Combine a newly divorced housewife desperate for cash, who looks like a recently deceased operative, with an undercover job, energetic kids, and a grandma with a Viagra-using boyfriend, and you get a hilariously entertaining book. The best way to describe it? AMAZING. My patrons will absolutely devour this book!
Gabby Green is a mom, chief bottle washer, taxi driver, etc. You get the picture. She is one busy single mother. Things are a little hectic at her house these days since her divorce. She has her hands full. When a secret government agency comes knocking on her door asking her to go undercover. This has to be a joke, right? She is wondering who is pranking her. Well it is not a joke. Her government needs her.
As she goes to work undercover, she finds herself again. She gets a much needed confidence boost while also saving the world and being a #1 mom. She has felt underappreciated and invisible for a while. She no longer feels invisible and realizes she may have a real knack for this.
I kept having visions of True Lies. This was a good read for a hot summer day around the pool. It has a little drama/mystery and humor, as well as a great cast of characters.
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thanks to Forever for a gifted ARC and to NetGalley for the electronic version, too. I didn’t know what to expect from this new-to-me author, and I had a fun time reading the book with some delicious sushi at one of my favorite local breweries. All opinions are my own.
Gabby Greene is recently divorced, with her husband forcing her to go back to work so he doesn’t have to pay her as much spousal support. Gabby hasn’t worked in fourteen years and doesn’t know what she can do besides maybe sell Tupperware. But then, out of the blue, a job appears for Gabby - she has the same face as a spy for the government agency EOD (Elite Operatives Department) who needs to be replaced, as she was killed while undercover… in the same role that Gabby is being expected to fulfill. Some quick training, and then Gabby’s out there - with a whole lot on the line.
Errands and Espionage definitely has some unbelievable parts, but it was a fun romp with some really excellent side characters. I also loved seeing Gabby’s confidence grow and her relationships with her two children improve as the book progressed. I would argue it’s more mystery/comedy than a romantic comedy, as the romance part didn’t really work nor was it completely necessary for the plot. While the premise seems similar to the Finlay Donovan series, it’s different due to the mom working solo with an organization backing her (for the most part), but I think readers who enjoy that series will also enjoy this one.
Happy pub day!
Gabby, newly divorced and living a monotonous stay at home mom life the last 14 years finds herself in quite the pickle when the CIA wants to recruit her for a job.
Although I found the writing a bit hard to follow at times this was such a fun read! Gabby and the cast of characters were a ton of fun. I loved her character growth from beginning to end. I think this book would resonate with any mom, single or not. The whole time I kept thinking this would make a great movie! If you liked Finlay Donovan is Killing it I would highly suggest this for you!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Errands & Espionage is an amateur spy story following a recently divorced and under-appreciated SAHM who is asked to go undercover for a secret government agency due to her resemblance to a deceased agent.
When I read the premise, it reminded me of the “Finlay Donovan” series so I knew I had to read it. I had fun reading this and enjoyed all of the undercover shenanigans. Gabby definitely finds herself in some funny situations.
I really liked Gabby’s character and as a mother, found her to be relatable. I loved seeing her confidence grow during the mission.
The side characters were great as well, especially her trainer/love interest Markus, her best friend Justin and her grandmother.
This is very light on the romance so I feel like that definitely could’ve been left out and just focused on the undercover spy aspect but I did like the idea of Markus and Gabby together.
The ending was left open for a possible sequel so I’d definitely be interested in another book about Gabby’s adventures as a spy!
I'll confess - I was a little slow to get into this book, but once I did, I found it to be funny and charming! Not to completely date myself, but it gave "Scarecrow and Mrs. King" vibes. Errands & Espionage is a relatable story about finding yourself again in the midst of motherhood, even when you find yourself in an unexpected situation. I will definitely recommend this book to my friends!
This author, Sam Tschida was a new author to me, but the plot had me intrigued enough to want to try it. It was labeled a romcom and boy did it deliver.
Gabby Greene a newly divorced housewife struggling to find her way with this new life. She was feeling unnoticed, a little overweight and still trying to find a way to pay the bills. A knock comes at the door, and she discovers that a CIA agent was murdered, and she is the spitting image despite the nose for this agent. Running out of options in her personal life and an offer she can't refuse, Gabby accepts this new adventure for some quick cash and self-worth in hopes it will all turn out alright.
This book took me by surprise. I laughed out loud quite a few times, and I wasn't expecting it to be such fun. It had some twists and secrets that kept me guessing to the end. There was a touch of romance, but it really wasn't the focus just a nice addition that kept the story moving. The writing was kept light and really loved the characters in the book The characters were relatable where I could see myself in Gabby making the same mistakes as she did. The author did a nice job on this one and hope there's more in the future. I highly recommend.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for this gem!
Errands & Espionage
We meet Gabby Greene, a recently divorced, mediocre housewife. She is barely hanging on when the CIA shows up on her doorstop asking her to go undercover…she’s looking for Ashton Kutcher to jump out because she is SURE she is being Punk’d! But nope…she looks just like an agent to was recently “taken out” & the CIA needs her help!!! 😵 Now is when the shenanigans begin…
This book was a fun, wild ride!! I was hooked from the beginning with how silly Gabby was! I just loved Justin, her gay bestie next door, & her delightful kids. Add Granny & Burt to the mix and it was such a funny, eccentric group! Gabby proceeds to get herself into all sorts of messes while trying to gather info from the RUSSIAN MOB 😵💫🫨🤐
I found some of the situations pretty unbelievable & the ending was pretty far-fetched but what do I know about goin undercover 🫣🤭 & it’s that what books are for! Overall, the was a fun, quick read! Enjoy, my friends 🫶🏼
Errands & Espionage by Sam Tschida is the best spy romcom!
I had the best time reading this story!
It had me rolling with these fantastic characters and laugh out loud moments.
Quirky, fun and interesting.
Thank You NetGalley and Forever for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Reading this was like revisiting my childhood and all those episodes of Scarecrow and Mrs. King I watched. Tschida explores motherhood, value, and a woman’s place in society all wrapped up in a fun spy novel that will keep you giggling throughout. The romance definitely takes a back seat, much like season 1 of SaMK, so here’s hoping it gets renewed for another several seasons.

As the summer season rolled around, enveloping me in a carefree and playful mood, my longing for 'fun' books grew. By a stroke of luck, Errands and Espionage by Sam Tschida found its way into my hands a few weeks ago. The final pages turned on a late Sunday evening left me somewhat somber, as I bid farewell to a book that had brought me immense entertainment and moments of genuine hilarity.
Gabby quickly won me over with her charm. With the unexpected visit of CIA agents at her doorstep, I sensed that a significant shift awaited her, leading us on a thrilling adventure together. Her relatability struck a chord with me, and as the storyline unfolded, I found myself deeply invested in her journey towards success.
I have a soft spot for books that delve into family drama, and this one certainly delivered on that front. At one juncture, I even found myself stifling laughter under my bedcovers in the late hours of the night, unable to tear myself away from the book and succumb to sleep (bless my LED neck reading light)! If you're in search of a captivating romcom that promises hours of entertainment, consider giving this one a chance.
This is a comedic spy novel featuring Gabby Greene, a newly divorced stay-at-home mom, who is recruited by a special division of the CIA. Her biggest qualification: she looks like an undercover spy recently killed during an assignment. After a crash course in Spying 101, Gabby embarks on a dangerous mission involving money laundering, the Russian mob, and the realization that the spy she is replacing had secrets of her own.
Errands & Espionage was a fun laugh-out-loud story with a great supporting cast (I liked her grandmother and best friend best). I hope this book turns into a series!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Forever for the advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review!
Gabby is recently divorced, looking for a job after not having worked in 14 years, listening to self help audiobooks, and generally just trying to hold it together when she is offered a job to become a spy for the CIA. So, maybe it’s not because of any discernible skills that she has but because she is nearly a dopelgamngmer for their agent who was just killed during an assignment and they need her to go in and complete the mission. While Gabby is not a natural at the spy game, she learns quickly on the job (even though there are some major bumps on the way like the Russian mob trying to kill her) and realizes that maybe she has been underestimating herself all these years.
This was a cute Finlay Donavan type novel. It was entertaining, funny, had bits of adventure but was kind of predictable in the end. This fish out of water story was just a bit too out there for me but I did think that the author created some great characters and was fun to read. I could definitely see this novel being a series - and because of the characters, humor and charm of the book, even though I didn’t love this one, I would still absolutely read the next.

Thank you to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC to review
The premise for Errands and Espionage really drew me to the book, a mystery thriller romance? Yes please! I really liked the plot line, a mom who is going through a divorce and trying to figure out who she is again gets recruited by the EOD because she is identical to an agent that died on an undercover mission. Gabby then has days to train for this mission all while balancing her family and trying to take care of as well as stand up for herself.
The romance part of the plot is a lot less prominent. Markus her trainer takes an interest in her despite Gabby almost breaking his nose while sparring. The relationship doesn’t develop much in the book in my opinion and I would have liked to see more there. The book was a lot of Gabby being super hard on herself and that was not always enjoyable for me to read, she does grow in the end it just felt like it took her a really long time to get there. I didn’t mind the book but I wanted to like it more than I did actually enjoy reading it.
What do you get when you take a newly divorced housewife desperate to make some money, who just happens to closely resemble a very recently dead operative, and offer her an undercover job as the before mentioned dead operative? You get a very interesting book. What happens if you add in kids that require a lot of energy and a grandma and her Viagra taking boyfriend? What you get is a totally enjoyable and downright hilarious book that you don't want to end!
The one word I would use to describe this book is FUN, FUN, FUN! (I know that's three words, but they're all the same word, so just go with the flow.)
Thanks to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the ebook. All thoughts are my own.
This was a fun book. I’m not sure I totally believe the CIA would just pull someone off the street to be an agent. I liked Gabby but she was almost too ditzy for me. It’s an easy to read story with some funny parts.
I really enjoyed this book. Gabby Greene is an overwhelmed divorced mom of two. Her husband decided that he didn’t want to be married anymore, and her divorce has been final for four months. Her husband has filed legal paperwork to force her to get a job so he doesn’t have to pay spousal support. Gabby hasn’t worked in fourteen years, and her last job was working as a travel agent, not a lot of demand for that skill these days. While everything seems to be falling down around her, in walk agents from a special division of the CIA, and they need her help. Why ask a housewife to go undercover? She just happens to look exactly like a spy who was undercover and was recently killed. This is a fun fish out of water spy thriller. I will definitely look for the next book in this series. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
If you like this kind of book, it is okay. Personally I could not suspend belief long enough to be entertained by the idea that a suburban housewife and stay-at-home mother would ever be tapped to be an "agent". The writing was good, the plot was just thin. I did love her best friend and his story line. Grandma got short-shifted and could have had a more prominent arc.
