Noelle does it again! I love every book that she has written. She has such a way with words that makes you feel like you are in the story with the characters. This story follows Miley, an Olympic athlete, and what she goes through after being kidnapped. This book is based on the true story of Kari Swenson. If you haven't heard of her story, I would look it up or even just read this book and then read her story. I loved this novel and was on edge the whole time!

This is the second. book I have read by Noelle Ihli. This book was something else. I still can’t catch my breath. Please be warned…trigger warnings of abuse both physical and sexual that were tough to read. The main plot seemed to come out of nowhere for me and the story just kept building and building. When the reader gets to the climax, you should be prepared to not be able to put the book down.
Both of Ihlii’s books have been outside my reading comfort zone. The other book I read was Ask for Andrea. However, I will absolutely continue to read this author’s book!

Thank you to Netgalley and Dynamite Books for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Noelle W. Ihli did one heck of a job with this story. The tension started on the first page and held me in a death grip until the last page.
If you are a fan of psychological thrillers with a survival aspect set deep in the woods this is definitely something you don't want to miss (you will also probably think twice before venturing off into the woods for awhile).
I found myself really rooting for the main female character in this book and had a hard time putting it down as I frantically flipped the pages needing to know what happened next.
Run rabbit, run rabbit, run run run.......

This book!! Wow!! I could not put it down. I read every page of this book with anxiety and loved every minute!! This was so good, I read it in one day.

This book was absolutely insane! I thought it started a little slow for the first 15%, but when it picked up, I was hooked. I just learned that this book was based off of a True Crime case and that made it even better to me. The endurance of the main character was inspiring and the friendship between the main character and her potential love interest was heart-wrenching. I loved every blood curdling moment of this story and this author has quickly become a favorite of mine! I can not wait to see what she has in store for more books to come!

@noelleihliauthor did it again!! This book truly had me glued to my kindle wondering what was going to happen to Miley next. Her cunning nature and tenacity had me rooting for her the entire time!! Not to mention that Ihili’s writing style has you feeling every second of claustrophobia and anxiety that Miley felt. I also learned a ton about the Olympic biathlon which was pretty cool!
As an added bonus, the author’s note at the end gave me goosebumps! The inspiration for this story was truly incredible.
Gray After Dark releases 3/22, so make sure to get your copy!! Thank you @netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review 💕

I love everything that Noelle W. Ihli comes out with. This book was perfection. It had the right amount of nail biting, edge of your seat gripping twist & turns. If you love an edgy middle of the woods/middle of nowhere cabin setting then this will absolutely snag your interest! LOVED IT! This book will pull you full speed ahead straight through it cover to cover!
A quick spoiler free blurb of this book : We follow Miley who is out for a run one morning before her day starts, (she’s at a summer job at a mountain lodge) and she is abducted and taken off grid to a middle of nowhere cabin. She needs to outsmart them before it’s too late for her. I sat down with this book and could not set it down. I will always recommend Noelle’s books to my friends and family because they too love her writing. This needs to be on the TBR’s.

While recovering from an accident that smashed her Olympic dream, Miley takes a summer job at a mountain lodge. While it is a remote area it has lots of trails for her to train on. During one of her training sessions she is abducted by a father and son duo who have been living off the grid for years. As they take Miley prisoner she has to learn how to survive and outwit her captures to hopefully make an escape from this living nightmare.
This was a fantastic read and I implore all who read this to make sure not to skip the author’s note at the end. It gives details on how the story is based on true events. Noelle W. Ihli is becoming a favorite of mine, her books are so captivating from the very start and I love the fact that she will put an extra chapter out there that goes on to tell about other characters in the book. Such a lovely bonus! I can’t wait to go back and read every book this author has published.

This author is becoming one of my favorites! This is the fourth book I've read by her and I just love how I can lose track of time while reading her books. This one had me go through a few different emotions while reading it. That's something I think is special when an author can make the reader feel something while they're reading the story. It just makes it so much better in my opinion. I loved Miley! I thought she was so strong, smart, and knew when to follow her instincts. This book was such a good read and the fact that it was inspired by true events just shocked me. Noelle keep up the great work and keep writing the stories that you do because they are amazing! They are ones that can send chills down your back and ones that you will find yourself staying up late, even though you have an early morning the next day, to finish.

Gray After Dark is the story of Miley, an Olympic biathlete working at a mountain retreat in the Frank Church Wilderness for the summer. On a trail run by herself she is abducted by two men, father and son survivalists, who drag her back to their cabin where they hope to make her the son’s wife. The local police conclude that Miley was a victim of a bear attack, but her teammate, Brent, and her coworker, Wes, are not so quick to give up.
Told from Miley and Brent’s perspectives as she endures horrific violence and he pushes himself to his physical limits to find her, the story is fast-paced and action-packed. What Miley is forced to endure is truly difficult reading - this is not a fun story or a light beach read. Even more disturbing - the story is fictionalized version of true events, based on the experiences of Olympian Kari Swenson in Montana in the summer of 1984.
This is the second book I’ve read by Noelle West Ihli and I would read her again. I was hooked by the story but would recommend it with caution.

Ihli is the absolute queen of suspense. Having read all her previous books I was thrilled to get this one and it did not disappoint. The story centers around Miley, who is a talented athlete and olympic hopeful. Miley takes a job at a remote mountain lodge with hopes of running the trails and training during her off time. On one of her runs in the secluded mountains Miley meets up with a demented man and his son who abduct her. Harrowing story of survival and courage in the face of horrifying circumstances. Fast paced thriller, one of this authors best books.

This book is absolutely brilliant! Heart pumping and nail biting moments made me finish this book in one sitting. The plot is really great as abduction stories can be rather tricky to pull off just right. The book flowed well keeping the story going. Miley's attempts at escaping and waiting for the right moment came across good and not far fetched or unbelievable. So, if I loved this book so much, you might ask why I only gave it 4 stars?
The ending...I wanted more!! Not to give spoilers, it felt flat. I was waiting for this heroic safe, and ...bang. But credit to our MC for what she did..you will know what I'm talking about when you've read it. All the same, still loved it and highly recommend this book!
Thank you Netgalley and Dynamite Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

This was my very first book from this author and it will certainly not be my last!
I don't know what it is about traumatized Olympic-hopefuls that pulls me in but I was hooked from the start. This is a pulse-pounding story about grit, perseverance, and finding hope even in the darkest of places.

Gray after Dark by Noelle Ihli
Miley is taking a break from life after a horrific accident sidelines her dreams of Olympic gold. She takes a job at a summer camp in the Frank Church wilderness, as part of her destress routine she runs to keep a handle on life. Although being warned about bears in the area she is determined to run and keep some semblance of normalcy with her Olympic training. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she is abducted on her run and held captive in a remote cabin in the woods. As friends fear she has succumbed to the possibility of a bear attack, the search for her concludes and a good friend sets out to find Miley.
This story is an intense, jaw dropping, nail biting trip into the unimaginable.
Thank you NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours!

Noelle W.Ilhi writes these incredible survival thrillers that get your heart pounding and your anxiety ramped up with each chapter, and no guarantees of making it out alive.
Based loosely on a true story made this story hit home even more.
I raced through the pages and read way past my bedtime to finish the story. I had to know what happened. Very character driven, Noelle has penned these incredibly strong and believable main characters. I could feel every emotion , every ounce of pain inflicted.
The background setting had a claustrophobic feel to it. The Frank Church Wilderness was a character in of itself with dense forests that go on for thousands of miles that one could easily get lost in and die. Also, how the temperatures dropped suddenly at night .
It was creepy and dark, and I was completely emersed in every word.
If you are a thriller fan, this is definitely the book for you. Put this one on your list for March 22nd. You will not be disappointed.
Also, make sure to read the author's note and acknowledgment.
Thank you, Noelle W.Ilhi,Netgally, and Dynamite Book, for the early copy.

If you want a thriller that will get your heart rate up, pick any book by @noelleihliauthor!
Gray After Dark pulled me if from the very first page and I didn't want to put it down! I always feel like I am stuck in peril with her characters!

💌 thank you netgalley for the arc !!

An absoutely wild and addictive story of true survival. Miley is an athelete through and through and when she is put to the ultimate test of strength, she is bound to come out the other side. This story took ahold of me and held on tight until the very last page! A dark and twisted tale of one women's struggle against the evil men who took her and her ability to overcome and not only save herself but those around her as well.

Noelle Ihli knows how to write a nail biter that will not only have you in a book hangover but will make you go buy some pepper spray and not leave the safety of your home for a week or two.
She has done it again and this book was the most intense of hers I've read yet!
This is an anxiety inducing, sit on the edge of your seat, nail biter. I literally couldn't do anything while I was reading this book I needed to get to the end to know everything was going to be okay. That's how you know it's a good book but oh my goodness, it was a ride.
If you love a thrilling read that will have you screaming and yelling but also scared, this is the one you need to read!
