Miley is training for the Olympics. It’s her top priority in life until she finds herself deep in the woods fighting to survive.

This book grabbed my attention right away! I couldn’t put this book down, especially near the end! I just had to know how Miley’s story ended. The things in this book, including SA, physical beatings and torture, animal abuse, starvation, and kidnapping were tough to read but made me really root for Miley and her life.

Thank you to NetGalley and the punisher for the ebook to review!

This book was amazing. Seriously! Gray After Dark is the first book I’ve read by Noelle W. Ihli and after reading it I fully intend to jump into the rest of her back catalogue. I only hope they can live up to Gray After Dark. This is a thrilling story of survival that is intense, brutal, and often times quite disturbing. All Miley wants to do is get back in peak condition for the olympics. Her intention is spend the summer working at a resort deep in the Frank Church Wilderness and spending her off time training. Her co-workers warn her about the danger of bears in the out in the woods…if only that was all she has to worry about. And if only she had told people where she was going. While swimming after one of her training sessions a couple of backwoods men come across her…and abduct her, thus beginning her brutal and twisted struggle for survival. There is no question that some people might just find this one hard to stomach, but I thought it was spectacular. Fantastic characters, an excellent story, and relentless pacing made this one of my favorite reads of the year so far. Thanks so much to Dynamite Books and NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read an Arc of Gray After Dark.

Noelle is such a bankable author. Everything I've read so far of hers has been gripping. This page turner is no different! Based on Miley who is working over the summer as well as training for the next Olympics after a car accident leaves her with injuries that need to heal, she carries on training around the Frank Church forest. Unaware that there are people living off grid who abide by their own rules and are looking for a final member of their family in preparation for the upcoming apocalypse.

This was an edge of your seat ride that I devoured. Can't wait to read the rest of her catalogue. Thanks to the publisher and the author for an advanced copy. This book is sure to fly!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 ok stars.

I was really looking forward to reading this one as I loved Ask for Andrea.

However I found the book to be slow going, the first third was too much setting the scene and wasn’t that interesting. It did improve once she goes missing but I found too much of what happened in the camp implausible. I can’t say more as I don’t want to give spoilers.

The end was also so unrealistic.

Oh my god, Noelle really outdid herself with this one. I even had a certain tune in the back of my mind while reading this. Ifkyk. 🐇.
I really could not put the book down, I needed to know what was going to happen next. Heck, even if so,e of the characters would make it alive to the next chapter! The book is incredibly well written, short chapters and very organized. You learn about the characters and their backgrounds at the correct timing in the book. It really makes you think you are in the main character’s shoes and wha5 you would do if you were in that situation. I was feeling all my emotions while reading this book. I was mad, sad, horrified, disgusted and more all in a book!
Amazing job Noelle! Can’t wait for the next one.!

This book was intense. It got off to a fairly quick start and kept me reading. Many scenes were difficult to read when I wasn't sure which direction things would go, but not overly graphic. Miley's resilience and strength was remarkable and I loved her character, and happily hated several of the others. Once I reached the action-packed final third of the book, I couldn't put it down until the end. The author's note at the end made me appreciate the story even more. This was my first read by this author and I will certainly check out some more of her work!

4.25/5⭐

Word of advice: You will need to control your OWN breathing as you read this book.

This was the first book I have read written by Noelle W. Ihli and half way through it I ordered two more of hers it was that good already. I enjoyed the short chapters and the way the author changed POV to the different characters throughout the book. This was such a fast pace book, one you could not put down for very long because you had to know what happened next.

The story follows an Olympic athlete known for competing in the biathlon. It explores the trauma she endured both before and after being abducted by mountain men. The book does go into some graphic detail but that only made the story and her survival more real.

The author did an absolutely amazing job connecting all the characters, their histories & the current events together. This allowed for such a smooth transition from chapter to chapter. The character development was next level, you truly felt like you could feel and know what each character was going through.

This is a book I would read over and over again, and definitely will be recommending to others.

I absolutely rate this book 5 stars !!

Thank you to NetGalley & Dynamite Books for my advanced copy of “Gray After Day” by Noelle W. Ihli.

4.5 rounding up to 5 Stars! Thank you, NetGalley and Dynamite Books for eARC of Gray After Dark by Noelle W. Ihli.

I am so excited I got the chance to read this book! After reading Run on Red earlier this year I had to read her other books. I am definitely a new fan and will be catching up on her other novels!

This book was a fast paced thriller that I devoured in 3-4 days. I hate that I started it during a weekend when I had plans and try to sneak in a 5 mins quick read here and there. I got to the halfway mark and was seriously like "wtf am I reading?!" The characters were great and actually felt realistic - that's what makes me love Noelle's books. Def had a love and hate relationship with the supporting characters (Mary) but made you understand her and the way she acted the way that she had to. LOVE Wes and his support for Miley and Brent.

I cannot wait to read this author's past and future novels. Highly recommend for my thriller friends!

I loved this book! It's an unputdownable fast paced thriller. I recommend this one if you like mystery/thriller novels with the following tropes:
•badass FMC
•popcorn thriller
•kidnapping/confinement
•athlete (olympic level biathlete)
•inspired by true events
•homesteading/doomsday preppers

I finished it in a day cause I couldn't stop thinking about it. It became even more incredible after reading in the acknowledgements that this story was inspired by true events! I enjoyed Run On Red by this author but I loved this one even more! I look forward to continuing to read through Noelle's backlist.

COULD. NOT. PUT. THIS. BOOK. DOWN!

Gray After Dark by Noelle W. Ihli had me in a choke-hold the entire time I was reading it. A creepy page-turner of Miley, a biathlon athlete, who has been abducted by rugged "mountain men" in the Frank Church Wilderness of Idaho. Most people believe she's been killed by a bear, yet Brent - her best friend and teammate - refuses to give up the search.

I loved the 2 POVs - one from Miley, and one from Brent. The chapters are short yet long enough to get you sucked into each POV. This terrifying story of mountain hillbillies and their supposed 'control' over her is one that might give some nightmares. How they "tame" her is brutal and heartbreaking. Her resilience and strength can be seen throughout the book, and survival and life are the main themes overall.

Was surprised by the author's note at the end that this was inspired by a true story from 1984 about Kari Swanson in Montana.

Thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for this ARC in return for my honest opinion.

This gripping novel, inspired by a true story from 1984, explores the depths of human depravity. Following Miley, a biathlon athlete whose dreams are shattered by a tragic accident, the story unfolds as she navigates a harrowing abduction in a remote wilderness. Through twists and turns, readers are drawn into a tale of survival and resilience, as Miley forms a bond with fellow captive Mary. Delving into themes of trauma and friendship, the novel's graphic portrayal of abuse resonates deeply with readers. A compelling read that captivates from start to finish.

This was my first book of Noelle’s and I absolutely loved it! Inspired by a true story, but a story all its own. I was on the edge of my seat quite a bit and couldn’t put it down! Would definitely recommend!!!

There are very few instances where I’d call a book mindblowingly horrifying, but this fits the bill. I was so disturbed and stressed out while reading this and now that I’ve finished I can’t stop thinking about it. This book was so well written which is partially why it was so disturbing, I felt like I was right there in that cabin with Miley! What a freaking nightmare. Highly recommended for readers who love to read about the absolute darkest parts of humanity. This @noelleihliauthor hit is out now for your reading horror!

This is my first time reading this author and she did not disappoint. Lightly based on a true story from 1984, it is a terrifying trip into the horrors that people are capable of. This is gut wrenching and has twists and turns and you root for the girls throughout the entire book.
Miley is a biathlon athlete hoping to go to the Olympics. But, a devastating accident sidelines her dreams. Taking a job in a lodge, geared towards rich people in a remote location, she continues to train for possibly another chance. Her best friend, Brent is her lifelong friend and partner that she leaves behind. During a run, she is taken by two men, father and son, who live deep in the forest of Frank Church Wilderness off the grid. This begins the absolute terror she is about to experience and also meeting a woman who will become her ally and lifelong best friend “Mary”, who was also abducted years earlier. This novel has lots of graphic physical and psychological abuse. I related so much to these two women as I once was a victim of similar physical abuse. This book is really good and one that I will recommend to other readers. I read it in one day and couldn’t wait to get back to it if I had to put it down. Looking forward to her successful publication of this novel.
Thank you #netgalley and #dynamitebooks for allowing me to read an ARC copy of Ihli’s book

To say I was excited for Noelle's newest book is an understatement! I love the way you can binge her books in one sitting and how it literally feels like you're in a horror movie. The premise for this one was super interesting and sounded like a nightmare. I didn't love the dual perspectives in this one at first but by the end I thought it worked. The most interesting part to me was the author's note that said this was inspired Kari Swenson who I had never heard of! Definitely a gripping read. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

Hooked from the absolutely beginning! This is my second Noelle W. Ihli book and it did not disappoint! I love how Noelle has her books set in Idaho. Being from Idaho, I LOVE the homage to my home state the diverse settings that come to life in Noelle's books. This thriller starts off strong and does not left off of the gas leaving you wanting more. Can't wait to read more!

Oof! What a fantastic and terrifying novel! Miley was injured in an accident and had been training for the Olympics. She goes to the Frank Church Wilderness to recover and train, however she is abducted and held captive. It is a wild ride, and you will be happy you read it!
