Although this book looked amazing and I was so super excited to read this book I was so disappointed in this book. It lacked cohesiveness between the Mythology and story... I wanted so much more from this author

There is something about C.N. Crawford that just pulls me into the story and just is so easy to read and understand. This book was just so fun to read! I really enjoy the academic setting about fey being spies!

Avalon Tower was a fun and escapist fantasy read with some intriguing elements, but it didn't fully cast its spell on me. The premise of a spy academy for fey creatures (IN A TOWER????) felt super original, and I loved the setting!

The characters have potential, but I wanted more depth and development to really connect with them. For one, I did not believe in the romance or the fact they fell in love years before. The plot had its moments of excitement, but it also had some predictable twists that didn't quite surprise me. I love the inspiration from King Arthur, but felt it would lean into that a little too muich and became gimmicky.

The writing style is easy to follow, and the pacing keeps the story moving and while the academy setting and the magical powers are interesting, I was hoping for more tension and intrigue to keep me fully engaged. I enjoyed the ending and will probably continue the series.

I had really high hopes and while I enjoyed most of it there were parts that I just wasn’t a huge fan of.

"Avalon Tower" is a gripping fantasy adventure that blends action, romance, and magic seamlessly. Fans of spy thrillers with a fantastical twist will be captivated by this tale of courage, betrayal, and the power of love in the face of darkness. Highly recommended for readers seeking an enchanting escape into a world of secrets and intrigue.

WOW! That ending had me gasping for breath! I adored book 1 of this new fantasy series featuring fae (and partial fae), a training montage at a spy academy, and a sizzling enemies-to-lovers romance.

With that being said, this does have some flaws that need to be addressed. First, the beginning was quite confusing. A lot of it needs to be cut out in order for less experienced readers to not put this book aside within the first chapter or two. It really needs to get to the point more immediately. Also, the backstory behind Nia and Rafael was unnecessary, as far as I can tell at this point. (Perhaps it becomes important later?) I would have liked for the spice to have come slightly sooner with more tension and build-up, as well as a follow-up to the night in question. II would have also liked to see more about the spy academy and final challenges. This could have been more fully developed. Finally, there seems to be some plot holes, but perhaps they will be addressed later in the series?

Overall, however, I absolutely enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend that everyone read it! It is also out on audiobook, which is quite pleasing to listen to. I cannot wait for book 2 to come out!

Epic fantasy adventure, sure to be a new classic - good vs bad vs very bad - underdogs and evil villians - love lost and maybe found and maybe lost again, or not - and all spun with magic, dragons, mages, and a nod to Arthurian legend. Great fun to the last page! A bit of a cliff, so the waiting begins ...

Avalon Towers is book one of the fey spy academy series. I really loved this book but the beginning does start off a bit confusing. I honestly had to re-read it multiple times to make sure I wasn’t missing anything but as I continued through the book the beginning parts started to be pieced together.

This slow burn romance has Arthurian lore, fae, Demi-fae, magic, brooding male (who is really a sweetheart), “enemies” to lovers and one bed trope (hello swoon). I could not put this book down and it had me wanting more. THAT ENDING!! I audibly gasped!! I need to know what happens next!

Thank you so much to C.N Crawford, Alex Rivers, Netgalley & Victory Editing for the gifted copy!

4⭐️ 1.5🌶️

- King Arthur Retelling
- Enemies to Lovers
- Secret Spy Academy

I really enjoyed the world building of this book. I really enjoyed this modern take on Camelot. Things started off a little slow as all the groundwork was being laid but then quickly picked up. I’m a sucker for books with intrigue and adventure and this book delivered on both!

What do you get when you take the story of Camelot (king Arthur and Merlin) , mix some Mission impossible feels to it and garnish it with FAE ? You get this freaking amazing thing called..
✨ Avalon Tower ✨ !!!

Oh my my, where do I start ?
This was one of those books which once you pick up and start reading, you realise it's 4 AM in the night and u finished half the book in one go since you can't seem to keep it down , and you contemplate that is sleeping even important or not at this point!
Well that happened to me, and that's how I ended up finishing this book in 2 days 😅.

Reading ✨Avalon Tower✨ was pure bliss .

What I loved the most in this book? (Or rather what I didn't love - which is nothing, Cz I freaking loved every page of this beauty!!!!!)
- The plot is amazing, I am already a fan of Camelot, and I never realised how wonderfully adding spies and faes to it will work!
- Loveeee the powers of MMC and FMC (Dont wana spoil anything, so read the book 1st then we'll discuss how and why they were so freaking amazing!)
- The characters were super lovable, including FMC , MMC and FMC's friends!)
- And... Don't even get me started on the ending! Like what just happened?!???!!!!

Absolute 5 STAR READ

All in all , an amazing read!!! I don't think I can wait ONE YEAR for the next book!!!
I highly recommend that u guys read it and then please lemme know so that we can TALK ABOUT IT!!! AAAAHHHHH!

Thank you to NetGalley, Victory Editing, C.N. Crawford and Alex Rivers for an ARC and the opportunity to review!

I went into this book not knowing what to expect, and it was such a fun read! The story has some connections to Arthurian legend, which is pretty cool.

The relationship between Nia and Raphael is most definitely a slow burn. They have a history riddled with miscommunication, plus relationships between agents are forbidden at Avalon Tower. So naturally, they’re going to go on a mission that requires a fake relationship and making sure it’s VERY believable.

I initially expected this book to have some darker elements, and it did, but then it was wonderfully juxtaposed by lightheartedness from the colorful side characters - and I do love the found family vibes happening. Of course, a spy school wouldn’t be complete without rivals, thus we are introduced to the Pendragons. There are some nefarious things that seem to be happening at the academy, and we don’t get all the answers in this book, but we absolutely get teased for book two.

This book ends on a major cliffhanger! I will definitely be grabbing the next book in the series.

I loved this book! So many good things including fae, magic, spies, and a little spice! The storyline moved quickly and flowed well. I didn’t want to put it down. Can’t wait to read more.

What a freaking ride. While this story starts out a bit slow as we get into the world and the romance is all but a mystery, once it gets going I had such a hard time putting it down.

The world is amazing. I love the Camelot pieces despite not being well versed in tales of King Arthur. The powers are really fascinating and well written, I love the different types and some of my favorite scenes were of them in action. The Fey invading modern France with a veil barrier was also so cool, especially the impact it had on the human world..

I think my favorite bits were the missions, especially when she's just starting out and having to use her cunningness to save her companions and get herself out of harm's way. Christine and Alex wrote her so well, she was incredibly quick witted and smart.

That ending though *faints* the last 10ish percent of this story is a freaking roller coaster and brought this story up another half star for me. I absolutely can't wait for book two to release and see where these two take us.

✨ Avalon Tower by C.N. Crawford and Alex Rivers
✨ Release Date: 3/22/24

Thank you so much to Victory Editing, NetGalley, C.N. Crawford and Alex Rivers for an ARC of this exciting novel, Avalon Tower! I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to read it and give my honest review!

This was just such a fun read! I was expecting a dark, dramatic spy novel, and got a quirky, funny, exciting adventure. I was so pleasantly surprised my the lightness of the narration and I literally laughed out loud at several parts. It was a lovely juxtaposition of darker plot points and a chipper narration.

I really enjoyed this cast of characters. From the kind, resilient and selfless main character, Nia, to the fierce and loyal Serena and the starry- eyed, cheese adverse Tana. Finally, Raphael. The way I swooned over this dark haired, tattooed, determined hunk of a MMC 😍 I literally could not get enough of him!!

This one went by so fast- I didn’t want to put it down! The pace was fast and intriguing. I had such a fun time reading this and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes King Arthur, boarding school vibes, espionage, and fey. I need more!!!

The story is set a few years after the Fae invaded half of France and revealed themselves to the world. A powerful veil separates the Fae world from the human world and maintains a fragile peace. Nia, who is looking for a break from her chaotic life and addicted mother, goes on a vacation to France where she discovers a group of Demi-Fae attempting to escape. She ends up helping them reach the docks, where a boat is waiting to take them to safety. There, she runs into an old flame that broke her heart earlier in life, Raphael.

Nia soon realizes that she has a unique power over the veil, which they need to turn the tides of the war. Raphael takes her to Avalon Tower, where the descendants of the Pendragon line and a group of Demi-Fae have been working together to defend the world. They are fighting against the House of Morgan, who seek to end humanity, and Nia is the key to stopping them.

At first, the book's summary sounded interesting because who doesn't like a good King Arthur book? However, when I began reading it, I was not convinced. The story starts with the POV of Alix, and then the rest of the story is from Nia's perspective, which was a bit confusing. But the more I read it, the more I wanted to know what was going to happen. I loved how the author portrays the Pendragons because it makes sense, especially given the legendary status of King Arthur.

I felt really bad for Nia because people judge her very harshly and throw her back to school at 26 with a bunch of adults who act like teenagers and spoiled brats, even though she keeps showing her potential. The romance is quite a slow burn, but there is a lot of tension. It's not an enemies-to-lovers trope, but Nia thinks it is at one point. The forbidden love aspect of the story was written very well. There are some hot and steamy scenes, but the outfits that the Fae and humans have to wear tone them down.

Overall, the book was an enjoyable read, especially if you like the school setting and spycraft.

4.5⭐️

This was so good! I absolutely love a unique story and I can honestly say I’ve never read anything like this. An urban fantasy wrapped in Arthurian lore featuring a spy school, an asthmatic demi-fey FMC, found family, and a delicious slow burn romance. That plot twist at the end was crazy and I cannot wait for the next book to come out!!!

Nia is an American girl on holiday in France when she happens to get herself in a situation where she is helping fey fugitives escape and finds out that she is a Sentinel, meaning she can shut down the veil between the fey and mortal world - which also means that she is demi-fey. She is then brought to Avalon Tower, a school for spies meant to help take down the fey ruled by a terrible king. She undergoes training to become a knight of the round table while making both friends and enemies as well as trying to fight the feelings she is developing for Raphael Lancelot, one of the leaders. She discovers many secrets about herself, her power, and her lineage as she navigates this new life she is thrown into.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

I’m having a hard time writing this review because I can’t find the words to say how much I absolutely loved this book! When I see a CN Crawford book it’s always a must read for me. However, this was my favorite by far.

This was one of those books you stay up until the wee hours of the morning finishing because you can’t put it down.

Nia is a human (or so she thinks) on vacation. When she happens to stumble upon a group of Demi-fey refugees trying to reach a rendezvous point she decides to help them. Little does she know this decision is about to turn her whole life upside down. She’s forced to go with the Demi-fey and finds out she is actually a powerful Demi-fey herself. So she’s enrolled in a spy academy at Avalon Tower where she has to prove herself and quickly! There’s a war coming but will she be ready in time?

This book was Fey meets King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

5/5 stars and I will be buying a physical copy for my shelf!

Fey spy school? Sign me up!

Nia is on vacation when she unknowingly gets wrapped up in a Fey/demi-Fey war. And she becomes a new recruit in a school for Fey spies. From the very first chapter I’m intrigued by the world that has been created. There are very few books that grip me from the very beginning, but this book I could not stop reading. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! This book is so fast paced. I cannot wait for the sequel.

witty banter: check
sexual tension: check
Camelot vibes: check
